Thank you for this tutorial and all of the rest that you have done. I will be 73 in a few days, live alone in Middle TN with my dachshund mix doggy, Athena. I have a very small family and moved here to be near my son and his small family for the last chapters of my life. I have been quilting 23 years, I took it up during menopause to have a creative outlet as the wife of a long haul owner-op trucker. My sister and sister-in-law are quilters and excellent seamstresses. My mother also was an excellent seamstress and made all of my clothing including a bathing suit made out of a towel and ice skating outfit of white satin blouse and black velvet, red satin lined skating skirt. We lived in Northern Indiana. To this day, I refuse to sew or wear "homemade clothing", lol. But I love watching you and always learn something new from you. It is a pleasure to have you keep me company while I quilt, I have two rooms for my "hobby" and I never feel lonely thanks to you and a couple other "you tubers". Your chattiness and relaxed style of teaching and sharing your family always makes me smile, laugh and enjoy the time with you. Especially these last few months for our beloved country and my personal life, so much death has been too heartbreaking. So again thank you so much for taking time to help keep mine and others spirits up and moving forward. And reminding us we have alot to be grateful for this upcoming Thanksgiving.

Thanks for that Diana! My mom couldn't sew a button on!! However my step grandmother taught me when I was just a wee lass how to use her treadle machine and then I REALLY learned in Home Ec class! I made my moms clothes, and some of my brothers as well, of course, as my own, for many years. But I have found now that because fabric is SOOO expensive and patterns can be too, that store bought is for the most part, less expensive. (Stores like Kohls, Ross, TJ Maxx etc) So nice you now have two rooms! I'm pleased to know that you get a smile watching me!! And yes, even amongst the angst and horribleness and evil in this world, there is much to be grateful for! Creation and all it's wonders is just one!! And of course, I'm sure you get much comfort from your Athena!! Thanks again for sharing and I hope you have a lovely day:)

Excellent tutorial video ! They both turned out so pretty. Now you should find a wicker basket large enough to fit your teapot and make an insulated pillow for it and your tea will stay hotter even longer ! My Grandmother was from Hellendoorn , Netherlands. She was a lover of tea. She always used a beautiful tea cozy just like this but with the wicker basket. Brings back fond memories ! Thank you !

Hi Jean, Absolutely we need a tour of the china you kept, your new kitchen (loved the old one!), the things in your space and what they mean to you. By the way, I am auburn hair as well, and for the first time I am seeing someone with my coloring and the color of clothes that look so nice with it. Your pink today is absolutely wonderful! You inspire me endlessly. I must tell you, that I usually wear my hair in what my kids call my "Do", and they think you look very like me. Love the cozy and fabric covered totes. This has inspired me to make one for myself! I had a friend couple years ago looking to buy one and could not one so ask if I could make her one. Surprisingly It took for ever to find a pattern in my collection of magazines and patterns! But found finely and it was so cute with a side pocket for napkins or little tea spoons. Thanks for your ideas on your tea cozy’s!!

Hi Jean, I came back to your channel today since I hadn't looked at it for a while. I congratulate you and Ian for raising such a fine family and for being so supportive of each other. (And I'm curious as to how you came to be in England.) How wonderful that your sons have practical skills - something that's missing among many young people today. I've known men who hardly know how to use a screwdriver! And women who don't know how to iron! Anyway, blessings on your family. I was also a stay-at-home mother, but have only 2 sons. I started later and they were born when I was in my 30s; 5 years apart. Didn't plan it that way; I thought 2 or 3 years apart would be good, but it didn't happen. I nursed them both for years. Never a bottle or formula and never a crib (people thought I was nuts!) as they slept with us until 2 years of age. Both of them very intelligent and kind people and we are blessed. Our older son is married, a college professor with 4 sons. When I first watched your videos, a couple of years ago, I thought your "sewing room" was a shop! Ha ha! I wish you all continued success and good health. We also downsized last year and this house is all one floor; I love it. We are in our early 70s and I'm glad there is no basement; no stairs anywhere, except for an attic above the garage which I will never set foot in! :)

Thank you Gloria! As far as going to England...mutual friends introduced this English guy to me here in PA, we corresponded back and forth for 3 months, he came here and we were together for a total of a whopping 14 days, we got married on a Friday, got on an airplane on a Saturday and landed on the Sunday. Ian went to work on the Monday! WHEW!! Whatever had I done!?!?! LOL! I had our youngest when I was 43 my husband 52!! We too are now on one floor having moved from a home with 3 floors...and quite like it! We were sure to teach ALL of our kids skills and encouraged them into trades ~ i.e., carpentry, plumbing, cabinet making, electrician, HVAC, drywall, framing, etc., and they now all own their own businesses and are very handy to have around!! LOL! Thanks again and please keep safe!

Thanks! Great video. Would you say the tea cosy that is bound is reversible? I’m making this right now based on your video and I’m going to bind my edges. I’m just thinking maybe I can turn it inside out so either side showing out? Because I’m using a really nice lining that I like and I can’t decide which side to be the pretty side! It’s good that you made the mistake because it shows you two different ways of making it. My second question is if I’m going to bind the top part would it be a good idea ( because of all the layers ) to sew the binding onto one side of the tea cosy before joining the front and the back together ? Then, if necessary hand, sewing the binding to the other side after sewing the 2 pieces together? Thanks!
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory 8 ай бұрын
Yes and yes! If you use binding, then it could be reversible because there wouldn't be a raw seam on the inside. But as you say, because of the thickness, hand stitching would be best. All the best and thanks for watching;)

Thank you Jill!! Perhaps that's a good idea ~ would certainly be cute, but with the large TEAPOT one, it doesn't come into contact with the liquid..with a small one it would!?!? Hmmmmmm.......If you made it a generous size, then it would be great! It really DOES keep things hot! :)
