Amazing work. You did great at showing the reality of war at grunt level and flow of small tactical engagements while also showing clearly the bigger, divisional or army wide context. It's funny how rarely do you hear about the flanking British corps in the general narratives of M-G. The production and amount of detail is also very impressive, it must have taken a lot of effort. Thank you, hope the channel grows.

Thank you very much! I don't really have a team, however. A friend helped me carry equipment and recorded the parts where I'm in frame. Other than that its all me. @@DigitalBattlefieldTours May I ask where you found the information about Webster in combat near Vierville? I have read his book but he seems to only speak about the first night of D-Day before skipping ahead to Market Garden. How can I find out more about his experience in France?

His recollections of Normandy are a bit disorganized and presumably he was still working on those parts of the manuscript. In my Dell mass market paperback from 2008 the Vierville action is described on pages 63-67.

Webster's book Parachute Infantry, was indeed the original bases for Band of Brothers. Thank you very much! Making well-researched yet accessible videos is exactly what I aim to do with this channel. There is a long list of potential projects for me to pick from now that the Webster trilogy is finally complete. There is one in particular that I'm eager to cover as it involves a very rare vehicle that is seldom discussed, and I'm in the fortunate position to cover both the vehicle itself and a battle it was in. There is still a lot to figure out first, however, so I'll hold back on the specifics until the project is further developed. Making a 'behind the scenes' could be a worthwhile side-project. Research is the most time-consuming part of every video, yet only a small part of it actually makes it into the final product, so it could be interesting to turn that process into its own video. Thanks for the suggestion!

The movie was not based on Webster's book. It was based on the book BOB and the recollections of all the men from Easy Co. Webster was wounded and missed many battles before his return near the of the war.The series features Webster in an episode. Webster was a private.

Unfortunately, he seemed to be not the best soldier and he was lost at sea. I fear he committed suicide. Maybe he was a shamed for not being a good soldier. He complained an awful lot about everything. He left fallen cameras behind, maybe he felt ashamed.

There are so many potential videos just in the Benelux region alone. Late WWII, early WWII, WWI or even further back in time. I would like to cover it all at some point and eventually include France or maybe Italy. The thing is that these projects take a lot of time, especially the research, so I'm expanding the scope from the subject I'm most familiar with, which is late WWII. The next video will be Market Garden related and after that maybe something about Overloon or one of the September battles on the Belgian-Dutch border. Covering the early war is definitely on my list, however. Like you said there are plenty of interesting cases!

Not just by the Division, the Red Ball Line was the official name for the entire run from Normandy. A civil force had taken control of the rear areas, drawn from the UK Civil Service, purging all known Nazi placemen. Market Garden was in two parts, Market, the airborne forces, and Garden, the heavier land forces racing to catch up. There entire operation was hampered by the American doctrine of matériel, never moving until you had everything including the kitchen sink, which increasingly robbed the impetus of Horrock's XXX Corps, the Garden element, who discovered Eindhoven's bridge uncaptured and took it themselves. There simply was no élan in the Americans, and that delay doomed the entire thing. This is seen in this presentation, being more concerned with securing the flanks than doing the job. Contrast this with Agincourt. I wasn't just attached to 3 Para for a short while, but spent a year with the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, getting used to the need for pathfinder units to operate behind enemy lines: it turned out the SAS had their eyes on me, my mother having served in the SOE escorting downed aircrew from the Kempen to Brussels, where they'd lie up to recover before travelling down the Comet line to Gibraltar. That demonstrates the possibility for a unit to operate intensively for years behind enemy lines, as Russia is now discovering. It is very hard for the rear echelon to defend against them, because they're indistinguishable from refugees and other itinerants. Therefore, don't let your cutting edge be blunted by that concern. Later, it was realised a major fault was the idea of an established supply line from Normandy. Other ports were opening along the coast, Dieppe, Calais, Oostende, Zeebrugge (not as large then as now, it doubled in size in the 1970s, but still substantial), which should have ben used in addition to Avranches. The vulnerability of long supply lines had been established in North Africa, particularly by the SAS: you can't rely on them, so your baggage train is important, kept close and travelling with you: this is one of the lessons of Guderian's blitzkrieg. The Americans, unpracticed in war, had not learned the lessons of 1940, and were still stuck in the Col Blimp mindset we forced into retirement in 1941. It took until the Gulf War for them to catch up, and I doubt if they've even grasped the need for speed now: Trump doesn't understand the reversion of Clausewitz idiom. Essentially, persuade the enemy that as the continuation of policy by other means is simply a race to exhaustion of your resources, what's the point of trying when we've far more than you?

If I can give the creator a piece of feedback for this wonderful piece of media they have created: 1) You need to keep rotating and updating your thumbnails - the current ones you use (although accurate) are not drawing in viewership. 2) I would recommend you reupload the entire series in one 3 hour long video (longer view time gives more viewership - and longer 2+ hour plus content does very well on KZbin and is often pushed on recommended videos between 4-6pm) probably the same view time you have most of your current views. 3) you need more engagement in the comment section and likes, to do this for your next video please copy Montemayer video series regarding the battle of midway - there he pauses the battle for the audiences perspective and asks the audience to consider what they would of done given the fog of war and information available to them at the time. This causes a flurry of comments and engagement further increasing your channels success. It's a shame as this video series has multiple instances to frame the audience into Webb's shoes on what they should, could and did do, to frame a narrative of audience engagement. I understand "what ifs" are controversial but they absolutely drive you more engagement and greater viewership and you can still have your factually correct narrative while entertaining a what if. Overall the effort put into this and the onsite locations is by far the best content I have seen on this platform in a long time - if you have a donation link I would love to contribute to help you continue as you are a rarity that needs to be rewarded for your excellence.

Thank you very much for the advice. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to KZbin optimization. The problem is that the algorithm seems to change by the day. My Teaching Tactics videos didn't get much exposure at first either, but then they suddenly blew up. I believe the same will happen to this trilogy so I'd rather keep the videos (and thumbnails) as they are. Merging them into one big video is a possibility. I've actually been thinking about making an abridged version for next year's anniversary that merges all three parts into a single upload. Your support is very welcome. I've made sure to explicitly mention the Polish contribution to Market Garden in the first episode and also included their brigade on the operational map when discussing the planning. From that point on I have omitted them to streamline the script and make room on the map.

I plan to cover the Arnhem sector of Market Garden in future battlefield tours. Those videos will of course include the actions of the Polish Brigade in detail. The focus of this series was on the experience of one man in the 101st Airborne. While I included updates on the bigger operational picture to place Webster's actions in the context of Market Garden, it was not within the scope of this project to exhaustively cover the operation and all the units that took part in it.
