Your tutorial video would have to be one of the best! You speak clearly, you show the stitches so they are easy to see, you repeat enough so that if you don't catch it the first time you don't have to keep rewinding the video. You have cottoned on to just the right speed, not so fast the watcher misses things and not so slow that if you have some idea of stitches it becomes tiresome. Thank you so very much!! Now I just need to work out the amount to start with to make them ornament sized! lol You haven't already done that have you? lol

Bless you for giving the 'math' for different stitch counts doing the heel. I am (and have) making extremely large stockings (we tend to give small appliances and tools, so bigger is better, 100+ stitch counts w/ #4 yarn) I struggle with heels because it was pretty much a guessing game with me. Now I can hopefully avoid frogging over and over to get it 'right'. Seriously THANK YOU

The Secret Yarnery, I have made this stocking following your tutorial, but instead of making the chains for the cuff of the stocking I continued to single crochet around the stocking. like making your stripes. Then I chained 16 and sc around again in the BACK LOOP ONLY; this helps the cuff to stay folded down. Then I followed your instructions around for four rows and on. If you feel better about it, when you finish you can go back to the top and sc around the top.
@susannunnamaker69006 жыл бұрын
This is a great idea I may try. When I chained 41 for the cuff, there is no way that it will fit around the top of my stocking for some reason without making the stocking buckle. My tension, maybe?

Thanks for the link to your sock recipe, but, that seam ain't gonna work for me. I usually do hide my seam on the side like you do - or behind if there is a definite front, and sides are meant to be seen. There are two better ways I know of to keep the seam straight, and even darn near imperceptible. And bonus - there is never a gap, and conversely it is not bulky either. I don't know what ither way is called and I'm not even sure if anybody else does 'em. I'm never seen anybody do it, even though I've watched thousands of KZbins. I'd have to figure out how to describe them and get back to you. I appreciate the help though because I need some socks that are big and fat like those stockings to walk around the house in.

Your tutorial would have been great if 1 you had shown where to place the stitch, on top or in rhe hole, it's not very clear and osteoporosis definitely can't see where your putting the hook to pull through! I would class making a stocking as Easy for a fairly new crocheter, as long as the person can do these stitches would be able to make this, but! Because you haven't made it clear as to where the stitch by showing it, this makes this less likely a newer crocheter will get it right!! Because of that I give a thumbs down 👎. I've been crocheting for years, I've not done a lot of fancy stuff, ive only made jumpers, waistcoats, baby clothes, hats, gloves, and some toys, and I even had to keep undoing what I had done because of what I pointed out above in not knowing for sure where the stitch was supposed to have gone! 👎👎👎👎👎 Not to mention, your camera was out of focus at times, hands were out of shot and too fast!
