I’d also recommend to keep the hell knight alive during the fight, the Dark Lord spawns in either the hell knight and dogs or the PE, Tyrant, Baron, and Mancubus combo, the hell knight makes it easier for trying to bait the Dark Lord into flashing green and you get free hammer charges from the dogs

The fight is far from enjoyable, i mean i expected this bossfight to be like the cyberdemon boss fight in doom 2016, fast paced and fun fight with no rules, just go all out on the cyberdemon and the cyberdemon goes all out to you on different phases aswell, but we got this stupid flash green thing, that makes you "follow the rules" to deal damage to the boss, this makes the fight to be very monotonous and unfun to me, instead of going all out you are forced to follow a pattern and it sucks.

Another great guide. I was pretty frustrated with the inconsistency in three gaps between green flashes, with one gap lasting about five minutes with me moving in and out of range. If they patch whatever RNG code they're using to determine max time between flashes it will definitely help with the quality of this fight.

PB/rocket takes down half of his life bar if your switches are frame prefect. You can get even more damage by throwing a grenade right after the hammer. But SSG/ballista is far easier especially with UN nerves

I honestly just find this fight annoying, he has 2 sword swings that if you try shoot him for some reason he regains back nearly full health? The only options you have for healing/ armour are the zombies that walk into the arena, the demons he summons can’t be flame belched or frozen for armour and if they’re not grouped together the hammer won’t kill them all. He should be able to be stunned for every sword attack he does considering he regains health if he hits you. I find you have to save the hammer to try kill the the demons he spawns because they will kill you quickly, then you have to wait for the dogs to be summoned to get a hammer charge back to open up a good damage window. It’s honestly just a long drawn out fight that isn’t very fun at all it’s not that difficult just frustrating and annoying for the most part

best advice for the fight for me is use SSG+Ballista+SSG+Hammer then quick swap from SSG and Ballista for 60-70% of his HP. The remote detonation makes the wolves super easy to deal with, and just dash around the hell knight in the later phases. The wave with the baron, tyrant, mancubus, and pain elemental can fuck you up quick so I recommend just using BFG, since BFG and unmaykr don’t really have a place in this fight, and the unmaykr doesn’t do enough damage to warrant using it on the dark lord himself. Other than that just stay mobile and keep your eyes on the dark lord because the shield bash can catch you off guard. Keep your armor topped off by meathooking to the zombies that constantly spawn and you’ll be fine.

I think you missed a couple of important notes in your video (which was awesome none the less). First, you seem to be using the Rune that will glory kill from a distance. That seemed SUPER useful in your video footage. Will definitely use that as well. It would be interesting to know if any other Runes have this same type of usefulness (like maybe the speedup after a glorykill as well). The other note that I think is missing from this exactly how to bait the "green" eyes verse his other attacks. Specifically, when his sword is visible, you should be backing off. When he is about to flash green, his leg is up, and his sword is so far to the side you cannot really see it. These visual indicators should help in determining if you need to fire, or if you need to double dash backwords (which is something else that is missing... you have to double dash, one is not enough as his hitbox is huge). Also, when his shield goes up, you should be double dashing to the side. One final note is that Byte Me's video showed how Full Auto was insanely fast at killing the Dark Lord. Basically, it could do 2/3 in a single cycle, which would ensure you only do 2 cycles, even if you happen to heal him accidentally. Oh... and one more note... you don't need to chain saw. You should be getting all of your ammo from the hammer.

Fun Fact: You can switch weapons during the Hammer animation. So you can hit the DL with the SSG, use the Hammer and during the animation, switch to the chaingun or something else

For me on the last phase he hardly does the glowing attack and will summon 3 sets of dogs and hell knight back to back with no other attacks inbetween. By the way huge tip do not do the hammer strike into the centre of the dark lord with the other summons about as sometimes he gets health off it

In the part where he starts spawning the hell knights along with the wolves, I always made sure I glory killed 2 zombies to fill my hammer up before I attacked the wolves or HK. It made it possible to just hammer them down instead of shooting, plus that refilled my hammer and replenished my ammo. Plus I always had a hammer ready whenever the big crowd would spawn, and I could take them all out before they had a chance to move.

I used the super shotgun+ ballista combo and managed to get 3 quick shots off after the green flash, then hammering him, then getting off an additional 7-8 shots between both weapons. This knocked off at least half his health bar on nightmare, but I did it without grenades. I'm guessing you could probably do two thirds at a time with grenades.

You can do way more damage to him with a different combo, taking around 2/3 or 3/4 of his health in one go. First falter with SSG, ballista, SSG, then use hammer. Keep using SSG ballista and he's almost dead.

Instead of the chaingun turret mod i like to use the full auto combat shotgun mod, you can also cut down about half of his health with it. by the way, not sure if this helps a lot, but getting behind him while he is stunned allows for a few more hits on him because when he pulls the shield up, youre still behind him

For me ssg and ballista did more damage. I think over half. I was on normal but I remember the chaingun did not do as much damage. Also if you hold the shoot button then you can just click the swap gun button and deal tons of damage. Also BFG does not do a lot of damage.

My method for dealing damage to the Dark Lord is as follows: -Stun with the SSG -Hit with a Ballista shot and another SSG blast -THEN use the Sentinel Hammer (you have just enough time to hit with it after the second SSG shot) -Another SSG shot (Using the hammer skips reloading animations, or just takes so long that it would have reloaded anyways) -Unload Micro Missiles for a few seconds -At the last moment while the last Micro Missiles are exploding, hit with a SSG blast and back off of him with a ballista shot Even without grenades, this does well over half of the Dark Lord's health, and throwing in grenades while you Micro Missile gets in even _more_ damage. I find Micro Missiles better than the Mobile Turret because explosions are satisfying, and I like to keep my Chaingun on the Shield mod at all times, just in case.

Fuck this boss fight, Its essentially a marauder fight that overstayed its welcome and does the same thing over and over. Wait, Dodge, Hope he does the green flash, Hammer, Lock on Rockets. Rinse and repeat. If you get hit by something dumb the dark lord healing himself feels like the worst thing ever as it just prolongs the fight again to the point where there isnt flow but tedium then you lose your concentration then die to bullshit. Its not that its hard but it lacks creativity and actual fun. It just put a sour taste in my mouth before i just went to play a master level.

I found SSG - ballista - hammer and then SSG - PB combo to be more reliable/damaging than your mobile turret. (on console, use PB instead of ballista obviously. Maybe even a whole PB - SSG fits in. Havent tried that.)

I did some test with some of the weapons I think would be expected to be used, using the Super Shotgun as the weapon I used to stun him. Results are from using that one weapon or mod on him. Best weapons to do a lot of damage (No quick swap) Turret-chain gun Lock-on rockets Auto-Shotgun (Surprising) The BFG and Unmaykr are the least effective weapon on the dark lord. BFG taking him close to half a health bar. The Unmaykr getting his health bar close to where his boss icon is, on its right. Do not use: Micro Missiles Heat blast/boosted plasma rounds Sticky Bombs Remote Detonate Energy Shield (Ramming him does not do damage) Use in a pinch: Arbalest(Decent enough damage, but not as much as the best) Destroyer Blade:(Does near the same as the Arbalest. Tip: Don't let it charge for too long) Super Shotgun Precision Bolt

Small tip that I discovered: the dark lord won't regenerate as much health whenever the recently dealt damage has time to set in. The extra red bar on the health bar indicates this. So try and stay very far away from him until that little time period finishes.

So I cleared it the first day (and try) without using the Saving Throw Ruin (mostly because a Cursed Prowler cheesed it off me right as I was going for a soul orb). All I'm gonna say is...ya I got nothing, this fight is really easy. Just constantly dash around, avoid getting hit, and when he summons all those demons, drop the hammer and screw them up.

you can also do ballista to have a guaranteed hit with the flashing green eyes, then hammer, and then ssg/ballista. It drains him really fast as well but this strat in this video might be faster than the one I'm doing.

What I did was SSG, Ballista, Hammer, and then Quick Switch SSG Ballista. I never did frags but I should've.

Ultra nightmare for this was a breeze. Seraphim was way harder than the dark lord because of the blood angels and this can be easily finessed by using the sentinel hammer. I beat this dude without the sentinel hammer and it was a lot harder though, I think someone should mod this dlc to be harder, kind of like master levels.

My hand went numb from trying to dodge him so much, most tedious fight ever, nothing interesting about it, just constant repetition of the same drill through five health bars, which were more like 25 health bars as he kept getting his health back.... I have been enjoying all of Doom 2016 and Eternal, TAG1, TAG2 first three levels, until this badly designed fight, which is painful enough to make even a long term fan put the game down. Trying and failing over and over to get him to flash green is just mind numbing. Sure hope the developers will take another look at this boss fight design.... the arenas could use some more complexity too; the same round flat terrain for all five bars is not terribly creative. Even the possessed marauder in the Holt slayer gate was lots more fun than this fight... imho

i can also recommend the basic shotgun with the full auto mod for glory kills dark lord stuns and similar chaingun damage
