October 2023. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe. Your step by step instructions were so easy to follow even for a first time goat farmer like me. I still have to practice with the scent but the soap is amazing! My kid’s & grandkids have skin issues and this recipe is perfect. Thanks again, Ann

Plz don't make the lye solution in that glass bottle...it isn't alkali resistant and will easily explode causing terrible burns. Use stainless steel (not aluminum!) or #5 plastic only. I use large #5 food containers.

Well that’s interesting! I haven’t ever had a problem with glass but will definitely look into this more:)

@@kaylacreech4318it's not the heat so much as the alkali etching the glass, making it weaker each time used until it fails. Safety first...we don't want our soapermates getting hurt♥️

Loved this video! I used to make and sell soaps but got out of it when I had to move and most of my recipes got destroyed. Wanting to get back into it for myself. Don't have a freezer for the milk right now and my last goat got killed over the winter so got some melt n poor goat milk to try. Yep, you sure can't be distracted. I was mixing my lye outside once. Got distracted. Moved fast to avoid a lye accident, fell, broke a bone, and nearly 10 years later it still hurts most days. Have a beautiful day! Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Plz change recipe to show percentages instead of weights so it can be sized for any mold. Thank you! I would recommend using much less water. You'll get a better soap if you use not more than twice the water to lye (2:1 water to lye)

Hi , I'm new to soap making and watch this video a few times the recipe is asking for 4.91 of lye, but when you're measuring it the scale is showing 4.9 and you says 4.9 as well, I love the looks of the soap can you please get back to me with the correct number thank.
@CampcorderOffGrid
@CampcorderOffGrid 9 ай бұрын
Technically the recipe is 4.91 but the scale that I was using doesn’t read out that accurate, so if you make it with your scale reading 4.9 you shouldn’t have any problems at all!:)

Hello! So I followed this recipe almost to a T since i ran out of coconut oil. Only had 4 oz instead of the 10. So with that said, i added mofe oils here and there to compensate. Will the soap still be okay? Currently they're in the fridge and wkll stay there for 24 hrs

Hopefully the soap will turn out ok, however you will have to wait until the 2 weeks to really know. There is an easy way to make adjustments to a soap recipe by using a lye calculator! It’s a pretty cool tool and easy way to create your own recipes/make adjustments to an existing one! Recommend you check it out if you make soap again:) Best of luck.

I would say if it irritates your skin then it was a flop. When you make any changes to the percent of oils you use then you have to make changes to the amount of lye that you use. However, your changes may have been small enough for it to not have played a major effect on your batch.

Why do you need so many different kinds of oils? Can I use just canola or corn oil instead? Thank you.
@CampcorderOffGrid
@CampcorderOffGrid 10 ай бұрын
There definitely is a variety of different oils which you can use for making cold processed goats milk soap! All comes down to what kind of oils your skin does well with and the quality of soap which you desire! Look for a recipe specifically for the oils which you are wanting to use:) Best of luck!

Can we substitute palm oil for something else??
@CampcorderOffGrid
@CampcorderOffGrid 3 ай бұрын
You certainly can! I would suggest using a soap making calculator which you can typically find online. If you make adjustments to the ratio of oils being used then you will likely have to adjust your lye ratio.
