@@christopherharris8004 okay, so what that means is you need to reprogram the up and down limits. When you get a red light that tells us improper limit settings. It happens. So once you do that you will be able to set the remotes/keypad.

Thanks for the video. Can't get past the factory reset portion. Tried program plus up/down as well as program plus 6 plus up down.. Will not reset. LED light is green not red looks like a bit older model but matches this ones layout.... can't find anything anywere... any help appreciated.

Something is up with the safety sensors. Check those. Make sure they are aligned or nothing blocking one of them.

Reset the up and down travel limits. After that cycle the door up and down to complete the initial setup process.

@@garagedoorgenius it is a new belt drive, model 1055. I got it after I commented on the video. You have to hold the program button until the led blinks, then the long one starts blinking purple (so far so good). Then you press the + and - just as you described, but as soon as the blue led lights up you stop pushing them. They never would go out if you keep holding them, you go from blue to green to red without going off. I tried lifting off the buttons while red, while green, no luck. Then I lifted while it was still blue and presto. That is a small difference from what you described in your video, but enough to soak up 1/2 hour while watching videos and pushing buttons.

Funny and informative. Each genie model behaves a little different in term of the lights but the concept is similar and it works after a little experimentation. I was programming a universal remote instead of a genie remote.

Do you have a square button and 2 triangle buttons? If so then here's how to clear the memory. 1. Press and hold the SET/PRGM button on the opener for two seconds. • The ROUND LED will turn BLUE. • The ROUND LED will then flash PURPLE. 2. Press and hold the UP & DOWN buttons at the same time until both LEDs turn off. • Both opener LEDs will flash and turn off indicating that all remotes have been erased. 3. Press any remote button. • The opener should NOT run.

@@zh85 did you press the square button and release? Should have a purple light flashing. Then Genie recommends standing at least 5' away from the machine when you go and press the desired button you want in and out until the door moves.

I have tried this reset multiple times but it hasn’t worked. After using the buttons to reset the remotes you hold the 2 up and down buttons, it turns blue then supposed to turn off. My unit turns blue and then red. It’s always red. Nothing works. Not even the wall button. Am I doing something wrong??

@@DavidCantu-p4g yes, somewhere along the way the initial set up was erased. So what you need to do is set the up and down limits. Once those are established cycle the door up then back down to complete the training mode. Now you are ready to program remotes/ keypad. Red light means incomplete set up...

Check your safety sensors. That's one reason why the door will open and not close. You should have a solid red and green light on them.
