Easy Jeep Cherokee XJ Power Window Fix Using Parts From Steiger

In a previous video I repaired the drivers power window regulator on my 99 Jeep cherokee XJ. In this video I do the same to the passenger window. Its a bit of repeat information but I feel that this video covers things a lot better and there is a bit more detail. The parts I used were from Steiger Performance and it is a very simple solution to the biggest flaw in the Cherokee window regulators. This is especially useful for the 2 door cherokee XJs due to the fact that you cant find a replacement regulator. Hope you are able to take something away from this video and hope you like it. I would have used duck tape on one side of the window wrapped it around the upper door frame and stuck it to the other side of the window to hold it up, then when lowering the window to attach it the duck tape could be used to hold the glass as you lower it down. Great video as always!

Yeah, I was gonna do the duck tape method but I was also trying to prep for paint around the same time and didn't want to have to scrub the adhesive off the door frame. It works really well though.

Perhaps a video camera directly above you work area, focused in close, it would help to actually "see" what you did.

The only way to keep the 2door windows working is to repair them. There are new regulators available for the 4doors, but not the 2doors. Thank You!

I can't find the video of the driver's side window, probably I translate wrong. Can you give me some directions? Normally when the window slows down and you have to pull on it the window motor is going bad. The motors for the 2dr and 4dr models are the same, but the regulators are different.

@@ebealienthy I was referring to the 2door vs4door models. Usually when you have that problem with the clutch it is the clutch safety switch. This is what keeps the vehicle from starting unless the clutch is depressed. I don’t have a video on it but there are many on KZbin and a lot of forums on the subject. There is also a way to just bypass it but beware that this will let the Jeep start in gear and will cause it to lunge forward same as if you started it and just let off the clutch.

Why don’t they just make a complete regulator for the 2 door instead of forcing you to risk breaking the whole thing and being screwed cause you can’t find these parts anymore

Very little of anything on the XJ is still in production, or being repopped, if I was wealthy, I could become a multi-millionaire within a couple of years, repoping every part on the XJ.

Except that you are not going to find it fora 2door. . . . Unless you have found a source for 2 door stuff
