My family won't eat raisins so I would probably substitute dried cranberries, dried tart cherries and dried pineapple for the raisins, citrus peel and currents. And maybe some chopped dates if it needed more sweetness. And I'd also swap out zucchini for the apple, and maybe also add coconut depending on who's eating it.
@juliebaker6969 Жыл бұрын
When you say "pudding" are we talking specifically a baked or steamed pudding? Pudding in the British sense, as in desert in general? Because as you know, here in America pudding is more like a cooked (as opposed to baked) custard. One of my family's favorite deserts for the holidays is my seventh heaven for chocolate lovers pie, which has 7 kinds of chocolate. 1. Chocolate Graham cracker crust 2. Chocolate custard filling 3. Chocolate whipped cream 4. White chocolate curls 5. Milk chocolate curls 6. Dark chocolate curls 7. Drizzled with hot fudge right before serving. They're also fond of my 4 ingredient no bake lemon cheesecake. But MY favorite is coconut custard pie.

Would Mixed Spice also be Allspice?
@juliebaker6969 Жыл бұрын
@@MissyPiggy72 No allspice is a single spice. It's called allspice because it has a flavor similar to several other spices mixed together. But that mix MAY have allspice IN it.

Here in the UK Christmas puddings are made on stir up Sunday, which is the last one in November and before the start of Advent. Everyone in the house take a turn stirring it, (this has to be done east to west as that is the way the Wise Men travelled,) and make a wish. It is then boiled and then, when cooled, well wrapped. Only unwrapped n Christmas morning ready to be reheated for lunch or, if preferred, tea. Yummmmm!!!

@@sameoldsonganddance well we Brits follow some of the American traditions such as Halloween trick or treat so you could start a UK Christmas pudding one in Chicago. 😊😊😊😊 It is actually great both hot or cold, with cream or ice cream or white sauce or custard. Or however you would like to eat it. Yummmmm!!! If you do my wish is you have a lovely Christmas and enjoy the pudding. 😊😊😊😊

Sounds like a winner. I'll likely soak the fruit separate the night before in a cooking rum like Myers's or a fruity brandy. This recipe also needs a hard sauce. I'm sure Gemma has a recipe for that too.

May I share a recipe with you, Gemma? I made a Christmas pudding pie. It's like a cross between Christmas pudding and mincemeat pie. For the crust: 1 cup margarine 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour Enough cold water to help form the dough For the filling: 1 cup currants and sultanas 1/2 cup brandy 1 cup breadcrumbs 1 to 2 cups flour 1 cup milk 1 stick grated margarine 1 egg 1 cup light brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup Golden Syrup Make pie crust by crumbling the margarine and flour together. Spritz water until a dough forms. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour. Mix your pudding as you did in the video, but add flour. Pour filling into the prepared crust. Brush a beaten egg kn the crust and bake at 400°F until the crust is golden and the pudding is firm but soft.

Also I found out that CREME CHEESE is NOT good for you so I would use another whipped cream I think that you can make some really quick with an egg whites sugar and whip it up and then I would LOVE to get away from the SUGAR and start using STEVIA or they now have one that looks just like sugar but NONE of the calories but still sweet called SWERVE!

Do you NEED to put in MOLASSAS? Or can you just put in sugar instead, this reminds me of that horrible cake that everyone would HATE to get on X-MASS it tasted HORRIBLE and had a LOT of candied fruits but can't remember the name lol but this looks better ha
@biggerbolderbaking Жыл бұрын
Hi Janine. Molasses lends it a hint of caramel flavor. Fruitcake and Christmas pudding usually have glazed or candied fruits in it. If you don't like the taste of the candied fruits, you won't like Christmas cakes with or without molasses. Perhaps, you can try other cakes for the holidays instead.
