Thank you for this tutorial. I've made pencil pouches in the past for schools etc., but I needed a quick pattern to cut the overall sewing time down. I've committed to sewing 200 pouches to hold sewing notions. This just might be the one for my project. It can't get much easier than this. Thumbs up!!!

Wow! That's a commitment. Glad we can make your life a little bit easier. I've always found that it saves loads of time cutting all the fabric first, or at least in large batches. Although it's monotonous it does make a difference to how quickly you can get through the project, c x

I came here to see if I could make them for my classroom students this year. Their plastic pencil boxes don't stay on their desks and there is not a lot of room for them.

Yet again a very straight forward video of yours, which I am a big fan of, for their ease of instruction, gets to the point and shows you everything you need to know, and non of the things you dont, like wasting fivewhole minutes on what you and your family and the cat have been up to this weekend, or how your feeling today…not that I mind, just for the sake of instructing someone else on how to do a project,it gets irritating if you have to fast forward that stuff. You could teach so many people on here how to do it right, you’d make a fortune! Keep up the great tutorials!

Corrine ... thank you so much for sharing your tutorial. I am making tote bags for charitable causes and wanted to include something different. I am going to add a tab and a split ring to your pouch and hang it from the handle of the tote bag so that keys/phone/coins can be safe inside the bag and easily found. As a complete beginner and literally first project on my very first sewing machine I completed this bit without the triangle flap! I made a standard slip in case because I wanted to make a record cover slip instead. It looks great however I had trouble on the very last edge corners. As a novice this is hard to explain but where you sewed together the triangle, I flipped inside and then tucked under and sewed the straight edge. Is there a way to sew this straight across prior to flipping? Great and easy to follow tutorial!
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 7 күн бұрын
Do you mean where I top-stitched around the flap and the top of the pocket at the end? If do I sometimes find it tricky too because of the bulk at the corners and often have to turn the fly wheel by hand. You don't actually need to do this step, you can just press it with a hot iron to keep the edges crisp, c x
@SamLee-j5g
@SamLee-j5g 7 күн бұрын
Yep so instead of doing the triangle envelope shape I just had like an open slip case so no fold over triangle section.
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 6 күн бұрын
@@SamLee-j5g Oh, I get you. So two rectangles, sewn together on the two short ends, refolded so the top and bottom seam line up, sew down the long sides, leaving a gap in the lining section of one side, turn out through the gap, stitch up the turning gap, push the lining into the outer, press along the top seam and top-stitch if you want, c x

I'm struggling to download it too but the site is still undergoing some maintenance which could be the problem. The template is simply a rectangle with one short edge trimmed into a shallow triangle. You should be able to see the shape at 0.50 in the video. Hope this helps, c x

Hi, thank you for this lovely tutorial. I was wondering if there is a way to make this style of lined pouch, but with a boxed shape for a pack of playing cards?
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Erm, I'm sure there must be a way but I can't visualise it in my head right now. You can box bottom the bottom corners by sewing across them at 90 degrees to the seams but I think with this pouch the top flap would look awkward as it won't fit properly. You might have to make a pouch with a gusset and I'm pretty sure I've never done a demo for one of them. I've done a similar pouch demo for Angel/Tarot card packs so this style of pouch does hold a pack of cards fairly well, c x

What glue have you used please. The stick looks a much easier way, the pens do not last long if doing a bigger item. Thank you for sharing with us.very nice cases.
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 2 жыл бұрын
I use a chunky Pritt stick. You only need a little bit to stick the fold and make sure you put the lid back on fully so the glue doesn't start getting tacky in the tube, c x

Great tutorial, thank you! Newbie here. I would add a small sewn in label on the side ( the kind that sticks out like a little flag), just not sure how to position it so that it’s sewn in when flipping the pouch at the end. Can anybody help?
@TheCraftsChannel
@TheCraftsChannel 2 ай бұрын
Possibly your best bet (although a bit more work) is to make a rough from scrap fabric, mark the position on the outside of the finished rough, and then unpick so you can accurately mark the position on your template. Also remember to sew the label between the pieces of outer fabric rather than the lining, c x

The little iron is made by Prym, you may have to look online for one. I've been using Janome machines for decades now and never had a bad one. Might be worth looking for a second hand one, I got a Janome for about £35 for my daughter and she's not had a problem with it in 4 years, c x
