Trouble IK rigging with multiple points instead of the usual 3? Look no further, this tutorial covers a technique to stack as many IK chain nodes as you need to engage all points in rotation within a curve.

Looks great! As it happens I'm working on a spider robot as well. I've started modeling it more than 10 yrs ago (LOL), but recently decided to finish it. I'm modeling it in Softimage and the rigging was also done in XSI, but I'm not 100% happy with it and beside that, I'd like to texture, animate & render it as well. Needless to say Softimage is dead and I want to do it in Houdini. I do have some experience in H (mainly modeling, hair grooming and object level rigging) but a complete beginner in KineFX. It looks a bit daunting especially now that they introduced APEX as well in H.20 My current spider leg rig in Softimage has more controls allowing me to rotate specific segments independently (FK style) and I have no idea how to achieve that in Houdini right now. I guess I'll have to roll up my sleeves and wrestle with KineFX for the next few weeks. I'm not very optimistic at the moment, ha ha! Any help you can provide would be immensely appreciated.
