Thanks for sharing this great recipe! Just tried it few hours ago for the first time. Had to add a little bit of extra flour because I live at the south of Italy near the beach but even if I didn't chill the dough worked great! I don't live in the United States, but yes, all purpose flour is a staple here in North America. It is exactly the same thing as "plain flour" as it is called in the U.K. for example.

frazzled pots75 Hi frazzled pots75, ah thanks :-) The secret is to not use too much baking powder or baking soda in your recipe, and the egg also helps inhibit the spread also, as it starts to bake the egg restricts the growth of the outer edges of the dough. I love the detailed instructions including metric measurements (I'm from Australia). I will definitely be using this recipe soon, thanks heaps! +Emily Rose Hi Emily, Thanks for watching :-) I hope you try them out. It's a classic sugar cookie recipe. I went to French pastry school a very long time ago, it feels like a another lifetime ago. TIPS: Get well versed in the kitchen, make sure that you watch every aspect of something doing something - never let somebody else just do a step, and you don't watch what they are doing ( unless you know how to do it already ) The more techniques you know and practice means you will become less dependent on others, and this is so so important. Love what you do, and you will become amazing at it. Time and love is all you need, and practice practice practice, so that you can open your own pastry shoppe one day on your own, where you'll make a great living. You will never get rich working in a pastry shoppe for somebody else. I learned that very early on. Being your own boss also makes a day in the bakery or pastry shoppe that much more appealing. Learn everything you can. Knowledge is power - and never forget that, when YOU know know a technique, nobody can take that from you, and that for me is the most important thing, in pastry and in life. :-) Good luck in your career :-) Work hard ! and you will be very successful.

Hi Marie, Really glad you found my video recipe :-) and I really wish you well with your new cake business ! Have fun, do the best job you can, and people will appreciate that, and tells others. Word of mouth goes oh so far in the business of cakes. I wish there were more hours in the day, I should have a better sugar cookie flooding tutorial on my channel here, but this is what I have currently. ----> Me... doing a super fast flooding of a sugar cookie: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHqvlaKtoa-tjs0 The most important thing when flooding any type of cookie is creating an outline, this creates your boundy and doesn't allow the next bit of Royal icing to overflow your cookie. So an outline is done, then right away, flood the cookie, don't wait... if you wait even a few minutes, the outline will start to develop a slight crust, and now you'll have a line between the flooding and the outline. So.. outline, and flood. Use any sharp instrument to and using a circular motion get that icing nice and smooth wherever it needs it. Tap the cookie on the table top... this helps even and spread it out. Anyway, I'm sure you didn't need that extra bit of info, but I felt like typing :-) Thanks again for watching Marie !

Hi again Andi, glad you enjoyed them :-) Another thing you can do if you don't wish to roll the cookies out, is to just roll the dough into a few logs, wrap well with plastic wrap and put them into the freezer.... if guests come over, or whenever you want fresh cookies, just bring a cookie log out, let it defrost a little bit, and then cut little coins ( slices ) and put them right onto your baking sheet... and bake..... FRESH cookies :-) I do this all the time during the Christmas season with shortbread cookies.... it's too easy. Have a great Christmas too Andi, and thanks again for watching my video :-) BTW, keep an eye out either later today or tomorrow, I'm uploading a new recipe for my soft gingerbread cookies...... one bite and you will fall in love... they are so good, somebody will think you bought them at a real bakery at a dollar a piece... no kidding. Can this recipe be doubled? If yes, would I keep the baking powder the same? Or double that as well? I made these today and I’m very pleased with the result so far. (I like to give it the next day test to see how they hold up in the containers) Thank you very much for the instructional video!!!

Hi Josie, yes, if you double the recipe, *all* ingredients should be doubled. This keeps the recipe ingredient ratios exactly the same, so you should produce exactly the same results. I hope this helps.

These look awesome. I am definitely going to try these. I saw a recipe similar to Your's except it used 3 1/2 cups flour. I thought they looked dry and they were crispy. Your's look DELICIOUS!!! I suppose if You want them crisp but I love Yummy, buttery sugar cookies. Your's look like that!!! YUM!!! I may try these today for practice purposes. LOL!!! Going to have some pretty cookies this Christmas; Your recipe, ofcourse!

It was still soft after 7 mins though, it baked for 15 at 400 came out perfect. I live in the West Indies not sure if that could be why the temperature of my home.
