I see another comment where somebody also lost a rosemary over this last winter. Ours had been doing beautifully, but we had a flash freeze. Anyway, we're starting again. We'll try this method. And watching from the southeastern USA!

I think they're very hardy once established, with lots of woody growth. I have a couple of monsters and they have been down to -20 c with no apparent ill effects but probably if it was largely still fresh green growth it would be less resistant. I also put a nice big boulder behind where I planted mine to act as heat mass, don't know if that helped. I think once you can get one established it will be fine.

i lost my rosemary this winter. i'd had it for 10 years, grown from a cutting of the rosemary i grew in my old house. i will have to buy another plant and start again :-( UK
