Bifacial solar panels are perfect for when camping, and you have the panels motorized to angle up and take full advantage of the underside. Like parking at a different angle isn't doable, but raising the panels at a 45 degree can be more efficient.

Love seeing that "Victron" & "EG4" products! Stepping that 12V system up to a 24V as well as upgrading that array is going to make the new owner of the bus super happy! Glad to see it's able to now be a 4-season sustainable living bus. Amazing job you've done with this renovation and thank you for sharing!!

I live in the middle of the desert outside Phoenix, Arizona. Generally speaking, black on black panels degrade at a slower rate than most other solar panels, especially in very hot climates. Generally, solar panels will degrade at a rate of 1% a year and up to 5% a year in extreme heat.

Love the new upgrade and a side note the AMG batteries can drop down to a quarter percent no more we use them here on our off grid Homestead and we have AMG batteries hard and they still take a good charge we've been looking into the lithium ions the technology is getting better I'm also a solar installer and technician but I am retired now I'm doing soldier when I have to I'm definitely looking into the lithium sit-up that you put in this bus it looks a lot better than the battle borns lithium batteries keep up the awesome videos

Bi-facials panels are great if you do a ground mount where the panels are about 3 to 4 feet off the ground, that you have more ambient light reflecting the back of the panels. Unfortunately rooftop mounting bifacial panels won't get you as much gain as you wanted. Love the bus.

US Army Veteran living in New Zealand. I just bought a coach bus (BusLife Cozy Coach) with a 24 volt mains battery system. I will, in time, add a 24-volt 2-3000 watt solar system charged by the alternator, solar and a generator. I thought your video might show the viewers a step-by-step real-time installation, but the time-lapse version uploaded does not allow for a detailed view in real time; it is too fast to see and understand what you did. This was a bit disappointing, as I had hoped to learn from the close-up of your installation. I think your videos are of great value; however, there are two things to consider in my humble opinion; one, if you did the presentation in real-time, you would gain more air time with KZbin (more money for you from KZbin), and second, better educational videos will earn more interest which means more subscribers, more views. Keep up the excellent work. Tino pai

FOR SAFTY: EG4 batteries are great for stationary applications, but they are not rated for mobil use. For reasons such as cables fray and busbars can become lose along with many other issues I would strongly recommend you don't use rack mount batteries for your RV. You can DIY your own or you can look for other options that take into consideration all the effects of road vibration which ultimately lead to shorts and or fires.

Great install very professional. You mentioned one of the options of alternator charging the 24v battery system. How does that work when the alternator is 12v and the battery bank is 24v? Is there a dc to dc charger that takes the 12v and steps up to 24v to charge? Just curious because I really don’t know and would be interested in doing this in a build.

Thank you! And good question, i typically use a 12/24 35amp Sterling to charge a 24volt bank from a 12v alternator.. they can charge lithium safely and are very reliable products. There are a few other route to accomplish the same thing, but Sterlings are my preferred

Great vid, how are you finding the bi-facial panels compared to regular? I am having a hard time believing that the reverse side generation would make sense on a cost/benefit basis...
@WolfDogBuses2 ай бұрын
Its pretty hard to specifically test the difference… i may be testing two 400w panels (one mono and one bifacial) side by side soon. So far it does seem like the bifacial has higher yields.. they are also super budget friendly as of lately.. check out the signature solar link i posted in the description, i went bifacial on this bus because they were actually less money than the monos! Panel prices have come down substantially in the last few years 🎉

When you're removing the old panels you say that the footers were installed using Sikaflex (love LOVE that stuff) and self-tapping screws. Did you screw just into the sheet metal of the roof, or a rib? Curious because we've just installed our solar panels and did it through the sheet metal, but with bolts.
