Oh yummie. I steam the head of cabbage to get the leaves off. I made this last week to cure my daughters cold and making it again this week just for fun. It has all the essential nutrients to cure a cold. Vitamin c tomatoes, antioxidants leafy greens and fiber.

@ Cabbage leaves are an antioxidant and vitamin C. So are tomatoes. Cooked as a soup or stew, the heat warms the body and loosen mucus while the veggies provides nutrients that helps boost the immune system like any cold medicine. I hope that helps.

A finely grated carrot will work for the sugar step. For the amount you had there about a half of a carrot. If you stir that into the sauce right in the beginning it will cook down and no one will know it's there. Definitely going to try this weekend!

I LOVE cabbage rolls! I core, salt & steam full head of cabbage to remove the leaves. I follow Hungarian great grandma 's basic recipe. Had to cut it Waaaay back thougg. As I'm not cooking for a brood of 18 children 😂 Still end up freezing some for a second meal. ❤

Ah! Try her method to remove fewer leaves vs doing a whole head, then you can still salt and steam and use the remaining cabbage for an entirely different dish. Lots of us are having to adjust cooking for a large family. This idea helps in that department.

Cabbage rolls are one of my favorites! You can also freeze the head of cabbage and then thaw it out and the leaves are then pliable to be rolled....but is about a 24hr lead time, so microwaving is certainly faster and works great too. Another great variety is using pickled cabbage leaves, popular in the Balkans called Sarma, but hard to find whole heads of pickled cabbage here in the US....can pickle your own but takes 3-4 months. Or you can use regular cabbage leaves and layer the rolls with sauerkraut and smoked meats to mimic the flavor.
@neutraliserjanine

I just tried this last night and the leaves were tougher to cut into after the rolls were cooked. Thats the only thing i did different. I'll probably go back to steaming the head of cabbage. Is there some trick to freezing it?
@MG-ot2yr
@MG-ot2yr 12 күн бұрын
@@neutraliserjanine If the rolls were tougher to cut after being cooked, it sounds like they weren't cooked long enough, rather than the issue being whether the leaves were microwaved, steamed or frozen prior to rolling them. In the video, she says cook 1hr and does them on the stovetop, I've always baked them for about 90 minutes in the oven and use enameled cast iron pot.

so i’ve been focusing on improving my overall health, and i finally got that doctor’s appointment i’d been putting off. the results came back better than expected-my cholesterol is down, my energy’s up, and i just feel so much more in tune with myself. it’s like everything just clicked once i started putting my energy towards health and well-being. i think it’s thanks to Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, which i read after seeing it mentioned so often in comments. it really helped me shift my mindset and manifest the health i was craving.
