It can also be done with half a cup of lemon juice instead of wine - also helps with stickiness, along with the honey; a touch more herbs (oregano and such), and it's also delicious! Give that a try if you'd like ;)

Made this tonight for dinner. It was so good, omg. I just replaced the wine with apple cider (not the vinegar) and the hot sauce with some chili paste that i made. Definitely gonna put your book on my Christmas list 😁. Thank you ❤. From France.

I just made this chicken an hour ago with some substitutions because I didn't some of the ingredients in stock: No black pepper :( No Dijon mustard No capers Used ACV instead of wine Used pepper flakes instead of hot sauce Used Trader Joe's No sugar bacon Used wings instead of thighs The chicken was very good but I felt it needed something. I think not having black pepper and Dijon made a difference. Those ingredients would have added more depth. I will try it again in the near future. I loved how simple and quick it was to make. Yesterday I made Donal's green soup which was very good. That will be a mainstay for me going forward. Thank you!. Edit: I made the chicken again tonight. But this time added 1/2 cup of ACV, freshly ground black pepper, and more generous with the crushed red pepper flakes. This made a huge difference. Highly recommend! V

Awesome! And congrats on winning the Irish Cookbook of the Year! I am one of those people who wants to use more plant protein and I am at a loss how to make tofu interesting. I would love to see what you can do with it.

I like to cut my chicken thighs up and cook them in a wok. After they're fully cooked I add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sometimes pad thai sauce, red pepper flakes, garlic, ginger, and whatever other Asian-y flavors I have and it always turns out delicious!

What does anyone recommend to swap the capers for? I don't keep them in my pantry as no one in my family likes them.
@Xxclare082 жыл бұрын
I would maybe try some chopped green or Kalamata olives (not the ones with a filling). They are not as salty as capers, but add abit of texture. or leave out the capers and add mushrooms instead?
