hot sauce looks delicious! you could always put a liner on the inside (breathable, like grow bag material) if you're concerned about the rust.

I made one this past Spring and I love it! We put it in our fire pit area with flowers in it. We were just going to donate our filing cabinet to the thrift store.... Now it has a new life! We painted our black also😊 such a great idea!

Cabinet looks great❤! Love the idea to leave the wood unfinished. Recently upcycled a plastic shelving unit a neighbor put on the street. Grabbed it, put holes in it. No paint needed. Started a new 10 x 9 garden area in the backyard! Couldn't be happier. Starting my fall garden in it. Gardeners have an eye for upcycling 😊😊😊!

It really does look absolutely beautiful, but I do have one concern and that’s the rust inside that filing cabinet. Will that be harmful?

From what I have researched the rust is actually not harmful to plants! Of course do your own research but some even indicated that it could even add beneficial organic matter to the soil. 🤷🏾‍♀️... To each it's own but I didn't want to paint the cabinet on the inside because I know that paint chemical would be more of a problem than the rust. Happy Gardening 🫶🏾

Great idea. I used a file cabinet for tool storage. Turned on its side it great for tall yard tolls,( shovels & and rakes) using the drawer dividers as sections. What do you do with the drawers?

Not at all! From what I understand rust won't hurt our plants! Which is why I left it bare.... I'm concerned that the paint may leech into the soil though... And being a chemical, could over time cause issues. Great question! Thank you for chiming in ❤️❤️❤️
