AB, I thought I knew about Hoppin John. I had always just mixed Black Eyed Peas with Rice and called it Hoppin John. I’m preparing for New Year’s Day lunch for 20 or so and this will definitely be on the menu, in addition to Black Eyed Peas, Rice, Collard Greens, and Cornbread. Thanks for this one. Made a couple of changes. First used a yellow onion, and Creole Kick instead of Cayenne pepper. Follow the rest of the recipe and directions. My wife and I loved it, and a big thanks to you AB. God bless you and yours, and may God continue to be with you.

I compared the two recipes and the only difference were the spices used. The only spice I used was a cajun spice. Yours sounds so much more flavorful. So, the next time I make Hoppin John, I will use your spices. If mine is good, yours should be a knock out.
