Blanket flower plants are perennial and are pretty much maintenance-free. They require a lot of sun and any kind of soil is fine for them. Watch this video to learn how to grow them from seeds.

I can second what@ Easy Peasy Gardening said; I tried growing some this year, and it almost died in a shaded area, but is doing well in full sun. Hardy plant though. Came back 2 or 3 times after almost dying, and is now thriving.

Here in southwestern Canada, I tend to harvest the seeds while cleaning up in the spring, last falls dormant/deadfall left overwinter for any wildlife and insect food/habitat. Spreading the seed from spring into the fall, fluffing up the soil so the seeds acquire a lite coverage of soil (natural), and then pack it down lightly, dampen till first snowfall. And whenever a snowfall skim some uncontaminated snow and toss over the growing area. This tends to allow natural germination and sprouting into next spring. My native Plantings are historically rain water fed also from rain barrels, no city water. Ps Avatar is a August pic of a portion of the front yard space, this shot a portion of the black-eyed Susan (seed) plantings with a recently birthed native hare' 1 of 3 hiding in amongst/below the foliage. The last couple yrs with drought conditions and less foliage, rabbits have chosen birthing locations with better coverage. !
