I have something eating the petals on my gallardia…….not the red ones………just the yellow and the yellow/red. Any thoughts on what to do or what it could be?

Not going to give up and sure appreciate your time to make these teaching videos. They're awesome! I'm having a problem with the stems rotting in the water. Do you change your water out periodically? Subscriber from Florida USA.

@Leah Allen, I know you (as I remembered you commented before in my other videos) and thank you so much for the support and words, I really appreciate it. Normally, I don't change quite often but it's better to do in 5-7 days if they are not rotting. It also helps to add fresh Oxygen in water roots need Oxygen. Hope they root soon and all the best :-)

Awesome - just what I needed to know. Do you think root hormone would have helped?
@GardeningUpbeat

@Leah Allen, Thank you very much for the feedback, appreciate it :-) Yeah, I believe it could've helped but since I used only water, didn't use it :-) There is another good thing about Gaillardia to love to - At the end of the season, if we keep them in same container, they regrow from the roots again the next year! During that time, need very less water and this way, my Gaillardia plants are still growing and blooming from the plants which I grew last year. Does exactly like Chrysanthemum (Mums).

Would you overwinter indoors in a cold climate? I have a pretty one that says it is a 2-yr perennial in zone 3 but I’m wondering if it could be put in a shed or basement.

I have grown gaillarida aristata from seeds. I am from Chennai and the climate here is super hot. So to my surprise it grows well but when i try to regrow from its seeds it takes time or does not gets germinated. Can you make a video on how to collect gaillarida aristata seeds and germinate it and grow it.

@Soumya Naik, that's really strange :-( It's getting everything as it needs but still not flowering...I believe, problem is in the seeds as Gaillardia blooms well without much care. Just water and fertilizer once in a month is enough. I can send you my plant's seeds if you like. It's still blooming but less though :-) But I have to say, you have lots of collections, awesome!

Great blooms! Like kijiye.. subscribe kijiye... haha... cute :D I was looking for summer plants which I can keep on roof in full sun. Here temperatures can go upto 40 deg C, and the sunlight on roof can be very harsh in summers. Can Gaillardia survive that much heat? I have to keep flowering plants on roof where they get good amount of sunlight, as we do not get enough sunlight in the garden below. So, summer plants which can survive the heat would be great. Thanks for the video :).

@Anupam S, Thank you so so much...they managed to bloom well :-) and they are still blooming..LOL (Less though because of temperature) Even temperature in my place is not too low..and last year 38 was the highest. Since you are looking for ultra strong plants, definitely you should grow Gaillardia - ultra strong..ha ha :-) Even the plants that I grew in 6 inch plastic pot, did quite well. None died or stopped blooming even if temperature was high. As I used plastic pots, I believe you can imagine how much hot the pot would be when the temperature is above 35. Other few you can grow - Portulaca & Vinca. You might need to water twice - Morning & Evening. Once again for my daughter :-) You won't believe that I didn't teach her to say like that..ha ha..she learned all after watching many kid related videos on KZbin itself. Anyway, good for me, she is doing my job :-)

@@GardeningUpbeat It's great :). You managed to plant them way ahead of time, and now you are enjoying the blooms. Temperatures here used to go 40 or above, but on a few days, but last year, the temperature was 40 or over for many days. Weather has changed here. This time too it seems like it is going to be quite a hot summer looking at the heat already... though weather has been fluctuating a lot. Wow, you used plastic pots in summers :O. Must be really tough plants then. I will try to buy them. Yes, I have Portulaca and Vinca with me. They are really very hardy plants. Yes, in summer, we do need to water frequently, and if they are on roof, may need to water twice. It's not a surprise for me that she did it on her own. Kids watch and learn fast. Same is with my niece. She is really sharp with quite a sharp memory. Even if she is playing, she hears everything haha. Kids learn very fast. Yes, your daughter is promoting really cutely for you haha :D
