Dates (chopped) 200g (1 cup)
Hot water 120ml (½ cup)
Baking soda ¾ teaspoon
Butter 75g (⅓ cup)
Brown Sugar 100g (½ cup)
3 Eggs (medium size)
Plain Flour 200g (1 ⅓ cups)
Baking powder 1 teaspoon
Chopped nuts 50g (¼ cup)
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Almond essence ½ teaspoon (optional)
For the Toffee sauce:
Butter 100g (7 tablespoons)
Brown sugar 100g (½ cup)
Heavy cream / Double cream 200ml (¾ cup, 2 teaspoons)
Measuring cup size - 240ml
Baking pan 20x20 cm (8x8 inch)
Bake in a preheated oven at 170c (338f) for 30-35 minutes

Thanks for this tutorial, it's a good watcher considerate pace not too slow, and is easy to follow. the cake will taste so good. I will make it for my old Dad, and use strong earl grey tea instead of plain water to infuse with the dates. Oh and you take top you tube prize for showing how to utilize and use a spatula properly!

If you were going to make this truly on deer, you'd have to replace the butter as well. I am trying to think what would be a good nondairy substitute. Maybe coconut cream? Some of the nondairy creams are not thick enough for a good consistency, but I'm sure it will taste just fine.

What was the sauce? I remember they made the sauce but cover the cake right after putting the holes in the cake. So what was the last sauce they drizzle?

It looked like maybe more toffee sauce? Sometimes they use a caramel sauce to drizzle over it. But the toffee sauce is easy enough to make so you could make extra and drizzle it. That's my guess. I haven't done it.

I don't understand why the person don't just put oven temperature like we all use to ,like 275,...300....325...350 ..375 ..400.425 ..450 Ete ,considering mist of us bake 8n regular ovens lol .wouldn't it make more sence then using teams we don't understand ,that's why I don't follow recipe videos .

I know! It's a bit frustrating, but it's because they're using Celsius and not Fahrenheit. So that's how it converts. The rest of us are just going to have to play with it and figure it out. My oven has a knob or dial so I can hopefully try and figure out a temperature that's closed.
