I use a cup of hot coffee instead of the hot water. It adds depth without any strong coffee flavour. Love this dessert. ❤️ from 🇨🇦

I think that this recipe was invented for me. It has the flavors that I crave! I can anticipate that I will make it with different dried fruits for the dates because I love so many different kinds: apricots, figs, raisins, prunes etc…. Thank you!!

Thank you for the metric measurements! Since using the much more accurate metrics every recipe is exactly as it was written. Cups can vary so much, even the utensil itself can be off... to scoop? To spoon into them? I put a single bowl on my kitchen scale, "0" it, then add an ingredient's weight, hit the "0" again, and so on...no cups! I'll never go back, thank you!

i made this! instead of using dried dates i used dried figs (because i had a big bag on hand that i purchased from Costco). it indeed takes 5 minutes to get it in the oven. I used light brown sugar and also for the toffee, instead of heavy cream, i used half/half because that's what i had on hand. My toffee syrup was more watery and lighter than yours. Anyways, it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and not too sweet! The cake even on its own without the toffee syrup is EXCELLENT as well. I also did add the optional almond essence which i feel really complements well the flavor and should not be missed. New subscriber here...LOoking forward to trying all your other recipes. thank you!!

Thanks for this tutorial, it's a good watcher considerate pace not too slow, and is easy to follow. the cake will taste so good. I will make it for my old Dad, and use strong earl grey tea instead of plain water to infuse with the dates. Oh and you take top you tube prize for showing how to utilize and use a spatula properly!
