Please be aware that this does not mean that you should be eating these foods all the time. This is just something you should understand and realize that the healthiest foods are your low glycemic index foods, those are the ones in the whole state with fiber that has not been stripped of its fiber and nutrients. Also, fiber slows digestion down and keeps glucose from spiking.

IMHO, this disclaimer does not go far enough. This concept of refrigeration/ freezing of cooked pasta, potatoes, bread, etc. having little-to-no effect on blood glucose and insulin spikes has been repeatedly debunked and it is an irresponsible disservice to those of us who are pre-diabetic, diabetic, or insulin-resistant to suggest otherwise.
@ThuLe-eh1xe
@ThuLe-eh1xe Жыл бұрын
@@marcuzas1 eat everything in moderation. Every few years, new researches contradict. So, we do not know what is right, what is wrong. Just go with how your body and your mind, emotions feel. One kind of food for one person can be poison for another person. So, eat a variety of food and pay attention to how you feel.

Dear @Dr. M, I would appreciate if you could point any article to support the claim that the starch become more difficult for our body to digest. Is it because larger molecular weight (becomes fiber due to polymerization)? Thank you.....🙏

Thank you! I have a LOT of pasta, rice and noodles on hand. But I eat very, very little of it. I have been running my own privatwe food pantry for a couple years. So I have given thousands of dollars of food away over two years. I would love some mac & cheese or any number of things I have been denying denying myself. I have been following the keto way for a couple years. I am a disabled veteran with leg damage, so getting enough exercise is difficullt but the weight keeps coming off. I mostly sit at my desk writting. In two years I have dropped 60 lbs and going down about a pound a week, As an old disabled man, I like to spend a day creating meals to freeze. Now I know that I can use the above carbs to my meal planning. Cool!

Appreciate you doc! I am on a partial keto diet, and I doubt that I will ever go completely onto it. I still eat beans & rice, and a good pasta made with quinoa. I've lost close to 30 pounds over the last 9 months, and that puts me close to where I'd like my body weight. I've done it mostly by lowering carbs, cutting out most snacks, and doing some light to moderate exercise. BTW, the key with pasta is to get one that has a 5/1 carb/fiber ratio or better. The quinoa blended one I use has a 2/1 ratio.

This isn't necessary, but he's not wrong about resistant starch. Just don't eat a high fat diet, and you shouldn't have a problem with carbs making you fat unless, of course, you are eating too much overall. I've always eaten loads of carbs, but when I lowered my fat intake (oils and animal fats) is when I was able to reduce and maintain my weight and feel great. When I up my intake of fatty food, I tend to put on weight and start to feel sick and sluggish. Say yes to potatoes, rice, corn, fruit, whole grain pasta, etc, and no to donuts, cakes, dairy, and meats, but especially, fatty and processed meats.

i thank you alot for turning my brain in the right direction. Tried some of the things you challenged us to do so, an i lost a good amount of weight over the last 8 weeks. The shorts that i bought 2 years ago didn't fit at all, now they do. It works and also some of the things you told to get a better sleep. You helped me big times. Now my direction is clear.

You may want to check this out but I just read that if you cook your rice with a little vinegar added it gets rid of the starch.

Nice! I wonder if the noodles, potatoes and rice should defrost before it is re-heated? Or rather fry/cook them directly frozen? Bread as well but I can't imagine to put frozen bread into the toaster 😅

Lol, no. But having a small amount of protein with your treat helps to slow the release of sugar into the blood.

would this work with frozen french fries for example? Do they have less starch then fresh fried potatoes? Does the starch needs to be cooked and then frozen? chilled? The longer the better? The colder the better?

Big difference between carbs from pasta , bread and potatoes. Potatoes are complex carbs , slow-releasing carbs that don't spike your insulin the same way Bread and pasta do. Spiking your insulin turns your body from a fat burning machine into a fat storing machine.

Dr. Mandrell you are very much appreciated and admired for all your natural medical teachings you give. Quest..regarding the pasta..i usually make it once a week..most 2 times a week sometimes. So putting it in the fridge for about couple of hrs b4 eating it then heating it up ..would that be enough time b4 eating it? The bread freezing and then toasting it ive done always..its good to know that its always had this liw glycemic affect doing so. Thank you..God Bless
