I'm a born and raised Idahoan... I'm telling you that we really do not want others to know about our little slice of heaven... Ppl come here and disrespect our parks, mountains, rivers, and lakes... Tear things up, leave their garbage behind, and don't understand the love we locals have for our home... Idaho is beautiful... We'd like her to stay that way...

THANK YOU SO MUCH for respecting Idaho and not over sharing! Part of the adventure is to find these places by putting in the work to do so, otherwise you attract the wrong crowds! That’s how the 2nd hot spring closed down - too many people who wanted to enjoy the beauty of it without wanting to clean up after themselves. There would be glass everywhere, trash everywhere, even condoms and tampons 🤢 Enjoy Idaho and thank you for helping to keep her beautiful!

Glad you enjoyed our state, it is beautiful. To those of us that remember when you could go camping without a reservation, raft rivers and only see one or two other groups and never see trash it is frustrating to see extensive growth. The reason the day use area was closed at the hot springs you were at ( not naming, but most Idahoans know) is there was so much trash in the restrooms. Pack it in, pack it out and pay the honor system parking fees!

I drove through the Idaho panhandle last summer on my way from Calgary to Seattle for a Concert, I didn't even intend to go through Idaho but was diverted due to an accident. All I did in Idaho was stop and get gas in Coeur d' Alene and that was it. But I fell in love with the area instantly and made a point of returning this summer. It truly does not disappoint. Great people too.

The worst I saw was at a Lake Shasta boondock spot after a 3 day weekend, I saw a lot of LOCALS leave all their trash. I guess they think the Rangers will collect it all? Nomads should be that much more motivated so we don’t lose access to these incredible places.

Can't really say I like videos of un-locals telling everyone that they HaveToGoToIdaho. All this "There ain't no one here", is because you came during Very off season . The springs you visited and Redfish are generally Packed even in the winter when you have to hike in more than a mile (to the one mentioned below) because the gate is closed at the highway. I Can say that the super hot hotsprings is a favorite winter hike for my Scout troop. We double-ziplock-bag burritos and put them in the hottest part of the spring up the hillside when we get there, and then have piping-hot meals before hiking/snowshoeing out. Edit to add - I went past the one you can see from the highway this weekend. There were no less than 30 cars and probably 100 people at that site.

We were soooo sad that we didn't get to experience this area on this trip. It is so beautiful. We said that we would have to put this on our list to go back one day (sooner rather than later). We did find a hot spring to swim in on the side of the road near Craters of the Moon. :) Northern Idaho is beautiful. Thanks for sharing these beautiful places. ~Kelli
