I called a seller when I didn't receive an item. He guaranteed he'd put the right label on it and we'd both been tracking the item. Eventually I tracked it down - it was sitting in the Lost Parcels dept. at the Post Office. So I called the seller back and let him know. He was going to refund me and I said, 'No! This isn't your fault, it's the Post Office's.' I just couldn't make him pay for something that he didn't do. He thanked me profusely for being an honest and ethical eBayer. :-) The package will probably show up when I'm like 72 yrs. old and don't need it anymore. ROFL

you are an awesome ebay buyer. so many buyers are quick to jump on sellers for things out of their control. im shocked you maanged to get the item back as usps customer service is a joke. that said i once managed to get a $900 package returned from the lost mail center. its in atlanta georgia right? i remember when that happenned to me thinking usps is a blackhole im out the money and after a couple dozen calls and being relentless i actually did iwnd up getting it back.

Yeah I was in the seller shoes when something like that happened to me. I actually tracked it myself and saw that ups delivered to wrong address and let the buyer know right away. Luckily the business that received my package incorrectly sent it back to ups and a couple weeks later I got it back and was able to send the item finally to the correct person.

3 days ago a scammer sent back to me an empty envelope instead of sunglasses. So what I did? i reported him to actionfraud.police.uk here in UK and ebay had to return me my money which first they refunded back to him although I contacted ebay and spoke with them about the issue attaching 3 photographs of the envelope I recieved from the scammer. I sell on ebay but absolutely hate this selling platform.

I don't like it either. That's cool how you contacted the police about it. I had a buyer send me back an empty box before, but the buyer was too lazy to send it back on time, so I didn't have to refund them or anything.

Maybe a class action law suit against eBay will get them to change their policies and procedures to address buyers who do a lot of scamming & returns. Yours and other experiences with scammers is why I never deal with private sellers on eBay. Sure, they are few in number, but all it takes is one to destroy trust in their system.

hey dan good poitn but what do you mean you dont deal with private sellers on ebay? do you mean amazon? pretty much every listing on ebay is a private seller although ebay is sort of getting into selling some of their own stuff. im wondering if you mean amazon vs amazon third party sellers?
@page51368 жыл бұрын
Rules For Rebels the Chinese guy was a EBay 3rd time buyer, my buddy bubbled wrapped and peanuts to protect the item, had shipped FedEx to china with signature. Day later said it was destroyed. The buyer has not proved evidence, such as a picture to prove it destroyed. my friend has sold over 10,000 item and great feedback. Ebay needs a better system to protect everybody.

I can't believe eBay doesn't check people's history of sales and feedback. Isn't that what it's there for? To show people are honest and good sellers? Same should go for buyers. If the buyer has zero or low feedback or just created their account and the seller has great feedback this shouldn't even be an issue. What is wrong with eBay?

I have made the mistake of shipping b4 being paid and was nearly scammed by an established eBay buyer with 100% fb, i did get my $ after catching the buyer LYING! And most recently dealt with several "newly registered" 0 fb buyers who refuse to pay or communicate. This behavior is BAD for us sellers and makes it difficult for the "GOOD eBayers". Don't tolerate it folks, block 'em ASAP for your own sake and the eBay platform. Thanks for the videos, I will continue to watch and learn!

Good to see a scammer get caught. I've never sold on e-bay but I've bought a few hundred items over the years, thankfully I've only been scammed once. Bought a USS Enterprise (the US Aircraft Carrier) last sail challenge coin that was given to all members of the crew for that last sail. I think I paid around $250 for it, which was a really good price as others were being sold for $300-$400. The guy kept telling me it was shipped, even gave me a tracking number that never got tracking (I work for the Post Office now and learned that he just made a tracking label for a package then never actually mailed it). eBay kept telling me to wait and bide my time because it had a tracking number and he mailed it and all this. Eventually it passed the deadline to file a fraud case with eBay and PayPal. Sense then, before buying I make sure the seller has good (more recent the better) feedback and do my research first.

I've had that only happen twice, and over years of buying, two times i didn't receive it. one time, it was given to someone in Virginia, i live in Maine, second time, the package didn't show up, fed ex said delivered. Two days later, a stranger knocks on my door, and I'm like, who the heck... he hands me a package, told me he found it on his steps two days prior, no signature tho.. so fed ex was supposed to get a signature. anyway the kindness of a good person got me my package back.

hey lady, yeah i find post office loses alot more packages than fedex. fedex is typically pretty good but does make mistakes. technically speaking your only required to put a signature on packages over $750 but personaly anything over like $250 i'll put a signature on.

hey carlos, thats too bad. yeah there's some bad apples out there but overall i think the majority of ebay buyers and sellers are good people. alot of people just decide a certain price point up to which thye are willing to sell because as we all know if a buyer wants an something they are typically going to get their way whether that be a partial refund, return, etc.

Carlos Vargas I sold a Tom Brady Patriots jersey the week before the 2017 superbowl. The guy that bought it wore it to a superbowl party then filed a claim against me for a refund. Ebay took the money plus shipping out of my Paypal account and I didnt know until i received and email saying I had until February 9th to respond to the request for refund..but they had already refunded the guy days earlier..which i didn't know yet. I approved the refund even though the guy who bought it claimed I sent him a jersey that didnt match the pictures..100% false, hes a liar..he just wore it for a party then got his money back. Im then wondering why he hasn't sent the jersey back to me. Ebay tells me that because I approved the return the case is closed and now this asshole got his money back and gets to keep the jersey. They denied taking the money out of my account, but they did, days before I got the email on the 9th asking me if I would approve the return. They jumped the gun, gave him his money back while he still had the jersey so now he gets to keep it.

Last week I had a guy wanting to buy a gaming or a Hulu access card but asked me if I could just send him the code instead of mailing the card. I told him we weren't allowed to that for tracking purposes, etc.... Then 2 days ago, I get a message from eBay saying that account had been hacked. I've used ebay for years but just started my store 10 days ago, I hadn't thought of someone hacking an account and getting codes that way. I also decided to take those listings down, mainly because they show face value and it's hard to sell one when someone can see the face value. Been using Terapeak for over a week and it's awesome. I found your video searching the best way to use the SEO feature, as you probably know even has a word counter! I'm going to use your techniques and see what happens. I also subscribed. Hello I am a new seller on eBay, just today my costumer send me an email through eBay that he tracked his packaged and showing already delivered at his porch, and he said why is it so fast the shipment only took two days, because I send it on April 26, 2017 and showing delivered on his front porch on April 28, 2017, and he didn't receive his packaged...its my first time and I dont really know what to do yet...do you have any suggestion? thanks a lot
@rulesforrebels7 жыл бұрын
hey mica, so the buyer is claiming item not received even though usps tracking shows delivered? the one thing kind of weird to me is why the customer is making a big deal about getting it quick. most people want to get packages quick so its something i would be happy about personally not something i would question. also if your shipping quickly like a good ebayer should and which you did, even usps 1st class mail arrives in 2-3 days so thats not really odd, especially if you guys are only a state or two apart. here's how i handle those istuations. i tell the buyer im not trying to pass the buck but please open a claim. ebay/paypal will ask for tracking and you'll proivde it to them showing delivered. you will win the case. typically ebay/paypal will cover the buyers loss because really nobody is at fault assuming the package was really misdelivered or stolen. you shipped quickly as your supposed to and item was showed delivered so you shouldn't be out money. at the same time if this is true buyer shouldn't be out money as well. this is where ebay/paypal buyer/seller protection kicks in andthats the reason we pay the hihgh fees for this protection. as long as the buyer doesn't have a history of saying item not received when tracking shows it wsa basically as long as they have no history of scamming they should be reimbursed. i think its important to communicate to the customer that your not trying to be difficult or give them the runaround or pass the buck but this is how it works.

I sent pictures to eBay to show the differences between my bracelet and this fake copy. I had a $100 purchase marked “paid not shipped” for about 2 weeks. Seller specified payment due within 3 days, but I pay immediately (alarm clock to watch auctions, or buy it now). I buy often on eBay, and had never had an issue, so I wasn’t very worried initially. Finally once I realized it was still not shipped I sent a message to ask if it had been shipped. The next day nothing had changed so I messaged again, but I felt like I was being bothersome (even though she had my money, but I feel like she wouldn’t get paid until she marked it shipped). She responded with a tracking number. I thanked her and searched the number. It was 4 digits short. I messaged again. She apologized and gave me the last 4. I looked and USPS said it was an invalid tracking number. I was frantic. I really wanted the item, but I would’ve settled for my money. I didn’t want to say anything to the seller until I could guarantee I’d get my money back. The next day I came home from work to the package on my porch. I checked my eBay app and it was still marked “paid not shipped” I was so happy. I immediately messaged the seller and let her know that I received it. I left positive feedback, and thanked her for being so helpful through the process. I’m so happy that I didn’t lose my cool, or ask for a refund. I was really worried that I’d lost my money. I still don’t understand why the USPS tracking # she was given didn’t work, or why she would have shipped it without marking it as shipped. I had it for over a week before the status changed. My worst experience was a seller that happened to live in the same town as me. $100 obo auction. I offered $80 to see what kind of wiggle room there was. He sends me a message and says he’ll take $80 if I meet and pay cash. I immediately felt uncomfortable with that. I let him know that I shop eBay because it feels safer. He said of that was the case he couldn’t go lower that $120 because eBay would take a percentage and he would get less than he wanted for the item. I wished him luck on selling it, and moved on.

I have a lot of experience dealing with this crap. here are some of my tips: 1. NEVER accept best offers that are very low because it could be a scam 2. DO NOT issue refunds unless the buyer ships your item back 3. ALWAYS look at feedback the buyer has left for other sellers before you accept offers or let them bid on your stuff 4. Beef up your returns section to state that you will report people who abuse eBay returns 5. If you get a return, record yourself unboxing it, make it a private video on KZbin, and make the eBay returns review dorks watch it if you can. That *might* prevent a bait and switch. If it doesn't, you'll have evidence to show the police and your local media, who can then contact eBay for comment. eBay might refund you that way to save face and not look like jerks who enjoy screwing over hard working sellers.
@samcostello36447 жыл бұрын
If the buyer pays through Paypal, Paypal may automatically take the funds from the seller's account and refund it to the buyer. EBay is doing the EBAY community a disservice when sellers aren't allowed to leave feedback for buyers especially those who don't pay and who pull other scams

I have started recording everything in one continuous shot, from testing the item to packaging, it is backwards thinking in my mind since I could just as easily open it back up off camera and replace the contents with garbage but it has saved my butt more than once. Honestly unless eBay gets their head out of their ass sellers are going to be forced to go to certified third party shippers or something.

hey next step, thats a good idea, have you ever had to send a video to ebay? my concern is this, will ebay even take the time to watch your video? also, even though you package something up on camera unless you have one continuous shot from packing it to driving it tot he post office to dropping it in the box someone could potentially say you packed it on camera but dropped a different package potentially.
@thenextstepp8 жыл бұрын
Rules For Rebels I have actually provided a video to PayPal only once. They actually gave me the idea. I had a dispute with a really shady buyer and after eBay dismissed his case he went to PayPal and the first thing they asked me was if I had photos proving I packaged the item. I asked the PayPal rep what difference it would make since there was clearly no way to provide photos that would prove my case. Prior to this I had simply documented the item thoroughly and packaged everything very well, always did signature confirmation and insured... none of this helped me in this case. After getting burned for $120, not very much I know but still enough to teach me a lesson, I started video recording it. On the one time I did send in a video I won my case but I believe it is hit and miss depending on the rep. I've thought about taking my camera down to the local shipping place and filming the entire process but then I'd have no way to prove the items were working, since I'm mostly selling electronic items these days. I've even thought about seeking out some sort of notary to verify the contents, not sure that would hold weight with PayPal or eBay but it was one of the thoughts I had. If you have any other ideas I'm listening man cause I actually have stopped selling for months at a time because I'm sick of eBay's bias towards sellers.

Actually, I have had quite a few packages that get delivered to neighbor houses, marked as delivered on eBay but held at the post office, or simply never arrived. If eBay told me to screw off there would be a lawsuit. Out of every house on my road mine is the only one 1/4 a mile off the road behind all of the other houses and UPS and FedEx can NEVER find my house. UPS once told me my house was in the middle of some where in Africa.... and I live in Indiana, USA. My house is on the opposite side of the street from my mailbox and somewhat down the road so very frequently the post office will just "close enough" and deliver it to any random house they feel like it. That's not even my biggest problem, my biggest problem is they mishandle packages and have delivered packages empty because the item ejected from the box. And when you try and file a claim they ask if you bought insurance..... so I need a do your job right insurance because if you don't theres no consequences? You can't just deliver the package without damaging the contents unless I buy insurance... o.O Just saying not all people on scammers but in my experience 99% of these situations are scams. But implying 100% are is ignorant.

I've had bad dealings on Ebay and they have a bad rep so ... I no longer do Ebay. I deleted my account on there and i gave one of the sellers I bought from got a negative feedback; which they tried to bribe/buy me into changing to positive by claiming they would give me a 'partial' refund after I changed my feedback. Which i didnt do
@rulesforrebels8 жыл бұрын
hey ray, are your bad experiences as a buyer or seller? as far as the "bribing" i dont know the situation obviously but in many instances what you are referring to is called customer service, not bribary. sometimes its mutually beneficial to give the customer a discount. customer is happy, seller doesn't have to take a return, you dont have to send something back, they dont have to pay for return shipping. i have bought items which were used and said new. me and the seller went back and forth and agreed on a price based on things not being accurately described and we both walked away happy

I got scammed years ago,by somebody who was selling a game system. I didn't pay a whole lot for it,but that's not the point. They never sent me the system. I also,was scammed by a buyer who said I didn't describe what she was getting,because I was trying to be nice and send her extra. So not only,did I lose money I lost the stuff,I sold her. Those are really the only two times i was scammed. I remember,I was selling pictures of dolls and a actress on a CD and clearly said they were CD's. I had about 10 listed and some woman bought,two of them. So I sent them off and it was free shipping. She writes me a few days letter after receiving them. What happened,to the two dolls you were suppose to send? I said huh? What dolls? She said you were selling dolls,ugh no i wasn't. Yes you had dolls listed,I said please go read the description and not only the description,but read the title. Oh! she says,I miss read it. Can i have my money back,I said sure send me the CD's back and I'll refund you. She didn't want to do that,she'd have to pay postage:( Anyhow,reminds me of another item i sold and somebody said it was used,I said no it wasn't used,that's the way it looked when i bought it. I think it was a sweater and it had a string hanging,which didn't affect the sweater at all. She could of clipped it off,but anyhow she got all huffy and so i just refunded her. She paid $2.00,yes! $2.00 and complained about a string hanging.

oh! I forgot to mention,ebay said i sold that woman a hat rack lol instead of a bunch of baby clothes,isn't that funny and i could never get a hold of them to correct them. One thing else people got to watch out for,I got on my ebay one time and there was stuff on there,that i didn't list. I quickly called ebay and told them,that I wasn't selling watches,or computers.

I'm so tired of selling on eBay because of the scams, I stopped doing it. Why? Because eBay doesn't care, and PayPal ALWAYS sides with the buyer! So I ship the item, then the buyer complains to PayPal, and viola! They get their money back, AND the item! I'm sooo sick of it! I sold something once and the person, after paying, wouldn't pick the item up, and the money was left in limbo for weeks until the person FINALLY came to get the item. I still buy things on eBay, and have yet to be scammed. I respect and feel for people who professionally sell on there because I guarantee they have to deal with the B/S every day. It's refreshing to see one of these creeps getting what they deserve.
@rulesforrebels8 жыл бұрын
hey kentucky, totally understandable. i kind of have a rule for myself in terms of the value of items i sell. if its more than im willing to lose i dont sell on there for that exact reason, because if someone says it doesn't work and ships me back their old broken playstation and keeps the new one i sent them they will typically win and there's nothing i can do. on smaller ticket items you still do get the scammers occasionally but its not as worthwhile for someone to play games for a $30 item. ebay is a headache, everyone has to make the choice if its worth the headaches in order to sell on there. is the money worth it.
@KentuckyRanger8 жыл бұрын
It really is sad for sellers. eBay takes the stance that the seller is ALWAYS wrong, and the buyer can do no wrong. I sold a DVD player for $200 a while back, and used seals to keep me safe from parts scavengers. It was a high end Sony. When he complained that the player was damaged during shipping to PayPal, they took my money out BEFORE he shipped the item back! And guess who NEVER shipped my item back?... After complaining to PayPal and eBay with no results, I gave up. The jerk got my DVD player for free... I know you're going to say "But he has to show proof he shipped it back!" Well, he generated a tracking number, showing it was delivered to me. What I got was an empty box. It was my word against his, and because he was the buyer, he got away with it... I'm with you on the value thing. I don't sell anything on eBay that's worth more than $30. That way when someone pulls this crap, I'm not out that much anymore.
@drd68938 жыл бұрын
i thought you have to pay before they ship?
@rulesforrebels8 жыл бұрын
yes you do pay before they ship but the way ebay and paypal handle disputes typically tends to favor the buyer. for example if you buy a playstation from me, i say its not as described, ebay and paypal will make me allow you to refund. if you send me a box with a brick in it and keep the playstation things get kind of fuzzy and many times ebay will side with the buyer and the seller gets screwed over
@eduardoig177 жыл бұрын
about 2 or 3 weeks ago I sold a pair of shoes and when the package was delivered the buyer messaged be saying that when he got home the box was completely destroyed and said he never received the shoes. I didn't even bothered arguing with him because it was only $20 so I just told him to open a return request and I would refund him his money. I am pretty sure it was a scam but I a college student and did not have the time to argue with hime, PayPal, and eBay and still end up having to refund him.
@rulesforrebels7 жыл бұрын
hey eduard, sorry to hear about that man. smart move on your part though. ultimately at the end of the day the buyer always winds up winning, at least in a situation like this, its another thing if they claim they didnt get it and youcan show tracking showing its been delivered. ive always studied ebay policy, i knwo what cases i can win and which i wont but you made a smart move. the buyer would have won so why waste your time and energy on something your going to lose anyhow and get bad feedback for. its part of the game and kind of part of doing business on ebay. the longterm health of your ebay account and paypal account is worth alot more than $20 so i think you made the right move

i think the larger town thing is a double edged sword. yes they have more resources but at the same time they also have higher priority crimes than you not being happy with the toaster you bought on ebay. in a few of these ebay scam stories where the a scamming buyer has been caught its been small town depts who have time to deal with something like this where as a larger city oftentimes may writeup a report just to appease the person but never do any followup.

I've had good luck with eBay. The only time I had an issue was a seller that strangely disappeared for a few days after I won the auction and when they popped up again, I needed to put money on my PayPal and needed one day to do it, the seller got mad and said that I was doing the same time as the last time I bought from them which was another time they disappeared and unregistered for a few days. I did pay the seller and then they unregistered for good. Very odd situation there.

Simple tip, that I had to deal with. The guy said "My brass horse head bookshelf holders were broken in half upon receiving" and instantly thought that's a red flag of course, I mean maybe if the postal service was playing football with my package, who knows maybe one could of broke in half, but BOTH OF THEM, c'mon let's be serious here dude, so, I just simply said "send me a picture of them broken in half and I will gladly refund your money" but he claimed no usb cord for his camera , so knew it was game over for him then. So we went back in forth and E-bay kicked in , and no money lost that round! Weeehooooo (knock on wood) Them damn scammers hurt the whole system! Would you please consider doing a folliow up video to the scammer video on the subject of the practicality of using their fullfillment center options? Thanks!

Sometimes a mistake is made.I purchased an item from eBay. Received confirmation that item was delivered. No item. I asked my wife if she bought item into our home. She said no. Within minutes after talking to my wife,I noticed a box in our dining room. It was the item. My wife forgot that she brought item in house. Luckily, I hadn't contacted the seller. I would have been made a fool !!! This is, I would think, is not common. But mistakes will and or can happen. Luckily we live in a safe neighborhood. Many times, neighbors from different streets, have brought items to me, that were delivered to their address. I have received other neighbors items plenty of times. What I would do is take a photo of item. It got too the point, where I had to go see the postmaster. I didn't tell the postmaster, that I had photos. When the person who delivered the mail was confronted. The postmaster contacted me. Told me that the person delivering the mail,denied delivering items to wrong addresses. They lied.I went to post office. Showed the postmaster the photos. No more deliveries to wrong addresses.
@rulesforrebels8 жыл бұрын
you bring up a great point. the first thing i do when someone claims an item wasn't delivered when tracking shows it was is ask if they live with anyone, if anyone else might have brought the package in ie wife, kids, etc? if they say no ill ask them to ask their mail carrier or a neighbor maybe if they delivered to the wrong address. i think that is the most common though someoen else living in the household grabs it and doesn't notify the recipient.

Fair dinkum you sellers think that just because you get your payment upfront and you dump it into the postal system that you dont have to worry about it anymore. Generally you sellers just clam up and leave the stress and chasing up to buyer. Its your job to chase it up with the carrier and inform the buyer whats going on.

@rulesforrebels8 жыл бұрын
to some extent you dont really have a choice. if you run around cancelling transactions because you dont like someone's feedback your going to hurt your seller rankings and possibly get your account closed. also unless someone has a track record of pissing off multiple people we know ebay buyers and sellers can be difficult so a single sketchy feedback could be the person complaining is the bad one or difficult one
@garyvancamp54523 жыл бұрын
😊 These scammers get a track record and after 2 or 3 times trying to pull these types of scams, ebay/amazon ect. will put there account, name and so on on file. After so many times they just close there accounts 👍 these online companies pay big bucks for security so these scammers will only get away with this a few times. I have also seen it were USPS will get involved and go after these types of scams, that is trouble for the folks trying this type of scam.
