My other half wants the head unit upgrade. It’s a huge amount of money though. Plus been worried about some of the negatives. At least we’re more aware of what they are. The reverse camera would be a big thing for her, & strange they haven’t sorted the heated/cooling controls as we also have the TiL. The discount code will help!

Yeah mate little bit frustrating l have ec offroads 2023 10 inch head unit and it has its problems too. I bought it on line January and was sent the wrong install video that took abit of sorting as it was a new release then the simcard slot stop working mid song and the down loadable map app doesn't work spoke to ec offroad and was told they would need the car for 3 days to see what l had done and to fix it, l live 180 kms away from there shop which would mean running 2 cars down to drop it of and pick it up again. I have had several conversations with ec and the 3 day thing stands. Unit crashes often, temp controls dodgy ec are to busy with American truck builds to look after the little sales. Hope you have better luck.

The clock on instrument cluster loses time constantly - about 1 - 2 minutes per week. Also f you change the sleep mode timer setting on the head unit it gets rid of the laggy boot up time. 23:45

Yeah about a minute every week seems about right. I tried changing the sleep timer but if it doesn’t re boot entirely every now and then, then it crashes even more then it already does.

😂. That was just after towing my 2.8t caravan back from Cobar NSW while on 35 inch tyres. Im pretty happy with 21.8 with that in mind hahah. Normally around home it’s 18 ish. Hyw is about 14-15
@cyclemoto8744 Жыл бұрын
@@Australian4x4Adventures Ok, that makes more sense. Notwithstanding the towing, large tyres are certainly the enemy of fuel economy. It's funny with the 70 series, they (well mine at least) stays pretty constant between 14/15 L per 100km, regardless of the environment, with towing it obviously increases but I only have a camper so about 1L more. Cheers

Your not alone with the issues. I have an EC off-road head unit in my 100 series. Less than 2 years old. It’s been a piece of crap from new, screen randomly just goes black and won’t do anything, constantly resetting it. Message EC off-road and they advised to do this. I’m t doesn’t come with any instructions. I wish I didn’t waste my money on it. I’ll never buy another thing from them. Would advise people to just buy the same thing off eBay for 1/4 the price.

I looked at these he’s units and just said nope not yet until all the glitches are fixed and they perform better hard too as live so far away in the country. Don’t want to be turning the car on and off just to get the stereo to work. Old school cars and systems seems to be so much better every day. The old factory system doesn’t crash either that seems to Means a lot. When forking out coin over the factory one.

Or when the reverse camera isn’t working, it’s the one time your child runs behind the car and you can’t see them in the mirror, what’s the real cost. To be clear, wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but it happens and it’s always a series of events that line up.
@Australian4x4Adventures Жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a concern I’m not ganna lie. When it happens, if the kids arnt in the car with me then I stop and make sure I know the wife has them. Or just turn the car off and on again to re set it.

Get yourself 4 autel sensors, clone your factory tpms sensors, and the tpms will work with either rims. No need to relearn the car for each set of rims.
@Australian4x4Adventures Жыл бұрын
Just googled them and they are cheap enough. How do you clone them?
@ashleywright7671 Жыл бұрын
@Australian4x4Adventures Either the tpms pad. 50-70 or the autel tpms tool. A couple of hundred. Either way hold tool near orig sensor and read, or write down code and enter off sensor. From memory use 2008 y61 for sensor configuration. I am running two sets - works great

I went in early with the Tesla style unit when that was the only option. I like it but as with yours it has quirks. Buyers of these things must realise they are NOT like a factory unit designed for the specific vehicle. They are an Android tablet with software to interface with the vehicle features via canbus and are only as good as the time the chinese developers took to get it done before moving on to the next of the probably 50 types of cars the unit runs in. But in exchange for quirks you do get versatility to run whatever you want on it.
