Peter Jackson's trilogy isn't a perfect adaptation. He had to make some cuts and rearrange some thing. However, it is clear on the screen how much he and his team loved TLotR. They put so much time and effort into the films, when they could have half-assed it by CGing everything. But that effort made the films timeless. They are just as good now as when they came out 20 years ago. Amazon's attempt will be remembered and regarded less than the weird old animated movies and even the Soviet TV version of the Hobbit.

Amazon waited until Christopher Tolkien died early in the production of its DumpsterFire, his "demand" was that Amazon could use the Appendices to make the show, but they couldn't change the lore. As soon as Christopher died, Amazon delayed the show for reshoots, fired Tom Shippey who was the lead Tolkien scholar & friend of Tolkien himself; they wanted Jackson on the team. PeterJackson asked for the scripts then they ghosted him. Then later when asked about it he basically told them good luck.. You can blame this garbage show on Simon Tolkien (who Amazon used to get around all the laws and protections set around the estate and JRR Tolkien’s legacy), its stink doesn't reach Christopher. Firstly: they merge events (from thousands of years of history & build up towards several events but puts them all into one moment as if it’s happening in the same few years without time jumps or anything.) Guyladriel the murderous one dimensional girlboss heroine version of Galadriel never met Miriel(one of Aragorn’s ancestors) because, as an elf, she would have been sacrificed to Morgoth by the King's Men. A precursor to other events to come in later ages. Also Elendil would never say “forget the past and toss it aside.” That’s the whole thing about the Faithful Númenoreans!!! I wish Hollywood would go back to ADAPTING stories instead of remaking them for modern audiences. The 90s and early 00s were truly the golden age of adaptations of books. From Tolkien to Jane Austin, to JK Rowling. Movies based on books was like seeing the characters and setting leap from the pages. But with DEI initiatives and modern writers who HATE the past, those days are gone and likely will not come back. Hollywood is a monopoly and there is no true competition. Hold on to your old DVDs because if you let go of the great stuff from those golden days, you are completely stuck with Hollywood's modern identity politics infused garbage. There will be NOTHING else. You want an amazing new telling of King Arthur or Mary Shelley or a new Harry Potter series that gets in all the details that the old movies just couldn't do? Well, you will get the woke DEI rendition that checks every identity box whether it needs it or not; rams uncomfortable sexual and gender identity concepts into simple stories for children; and alters the story to make villains more sympathetic and you have to just deal with it. There is no competition and Hollywood will not make anything else.

Pinterest shows many of them and model castings by Tolkien fans that curated the best people for the job! So many nice things. Even mornienna did some great work too just like council of the rings rewrite of ROP with full voice acting and illustrations. Fully self funded. Tolkien Untangled did a great job too.

I always thought of elves as closer to angels but still flesh.. in this show they r not magical at all and none of them look like elves at all. I can’t get over how old celebrimbor and Cirdan are! They should mostly be supermodel looking tall people in their 20s or early 30s and in peak condition to point of subtle cgi enhancement. Should seem ethereal and good in a way no morally gray modern writer can even comprehend It’s cultural vandalism and can only imagine Tolkien’s depth of horror if forced to see this done to his life’s work. It is amazing to think that the “creatives” at Amazon studios somehow went forward in time and watched this video you created. Which, they then took this as Tolkien’s word for what he wanted and made, Rings of Power. It’s truly incredible that your video gave us, Amazon’s The Rings of Dour. Though, with as much money as Amazon has at their disposal. For me, at least, it’s not hard to believe they had the ability to create a machine just to see what Tolkien wanted for a television adaptation. It’s all your fault, Echo! But, I don’t blame you. You couldn’t have predicted that they had a time machine and the massive damage your hilarious video would do. Just because I fathomed they could travel into the future. Well, it was a long shot at best that it was really true and possible. You are forgiven, good sir. 😂
