best parts of this game: 1. Digivolving - tracking your exp, degenerating and watching stats go up fast, having op moves on rookies, etc. really engaging mechanic 2. Digimon following behind you - is just cool to see 3. Boss fights - large scale and epic with the coolest digimon However, I do agree that playing these games emulated with 2x-4x speed enabled is a lifesaver

The spritework of this game was superb. Pokemon was on the 4th gen at the time and its sprites had nothing on Dawn/Dusk's. This trend continues today with 3D Pokemon titles' models and animations having nothing on Cyber Sleuth.

As a Digimon Dawn player (and someone who just as default chose to have the rival stay on our farm) it is mindbreaking to me that (at least in Dusk) not only does your rival stay with your boss if you turn them down.....but its implied they're now a thing!!! Like....that's so wild to me. Yeah it isn't stated directly, but in games like this that option being a thing AND your boss rooting for them in the tourney is as good as saying it. I'm in shambles....from laughing. Good for Koh and Julia.

I completed Digimon Dawn as a kid 100%. Collected all Digimon and did all quests, and got my main team to 999 stats. The only thing I had left to do was get all DigiEggs, but I was too lazy for that lol.

One thing I love about this game *over* Cyber Sleuth, is that you have things like the Platinum Tamer test. Cyber Sleuth unfortunately gets rid of the ability to make even babies uber strong. Glad you went through the post game! I didnt mind the grind too much. Just theowing on a podcast or video and I'm good to go. Thanks for covering the game!

These games, Lost Evolution and Super Xros Wars Red/Blue had an immense challenge during story and post game that I fell in love with. I know some dislike the grinding but I love it. I love having to max stats (1000 in Super Xros Wars) and it helps many Digimon being able to set up proper attacks and traits. Not to mention the post game (Lost Evolution's Legend Tamer Quest and Super Xros War's especially) really umped the difficulty and convinced the player to strategize properly and think about team interaction and team set up. Kind of miss that from the Cyber Sleuth duology. I understand the maxing of stats gets annoying for some but I think Cyber Sleuth could have done this without making it too grindy. These DS games had side quests too, and while not as dark or mature as Cyber Sleuth's, had a nice adventure charm to them and it made us really see more of the world within the games. Cyber Sleuth was filled with too much dialogue that at times it felt like a visual novel (nothing wrong with this as I love Survive but being an RPG it felt too heavy at times and it dragged on). I still replay these games on my DS.

@@ricardomonteiro870 They did, but I meant that you can't make a baby digimon strong in CSHM like in the DS games. You can regenerate them a lot, but their stats will max out with ABI eventually, which the DS games don't do

Oh I was waiting for this! This game may be the closest thing to etternal suffering, I love it very much. Hopefully you can either experience the original Digimon World DS or find a way to play either Lost Evolution or Xros Wars DS, both only released on JP. Really great video

100% do Cyber Sleuth if you can. It has several QoL things and tricks to ease the grind. Story is self-contained so no mysterious Chrono Core at the end suddenly. ALSO our girl Sayo (Night Crow/Claw MC) and Dianamon appear as part of a DLC (I think it was?) storyline. The complete version has it built in. :)

Tbh wasn't as big of a fan ss cyber sleuth as dusk. Getting my max level'd and equipped team killed by imperialdramon omni mode on hard before I could even do one action was a bit of a sore feeling. Felt like bad balancing tbh.

There are a couple of NPCs that tell you about the farm quests in the new areas you unlock in city. The first few ones are pretty straight foward, but they later ones are pretty much just hints on what you need to unlock those. I'm guessing those were used as alternatives to the side quests the game give you by default since you need to complete 2 of them to advance the story. And from what I hear it doesn't need to be an online battle to unlock the Legendary Tamers quest, just using any of the online features to connect to someone else. There are quite a few of these like sending a digimon to train on a friend's farm and breeding for version exclusive mons, but not like it matters now though, since you can't use them anymore.

Farm Quests have hints given to you by the non-store Digimon in each new area you restore access to. They're not exactly straightforward though so looking up guides is the best way to do it.

After you beat gaia origin, super strong digimon show up in other areas. I think it's part of proxy island where sabeleomon shows up and give you 4000 beast exp each, up to 4 at a time, argomon ultimate shows up in one room of thriller ruins and give 6000 dark exp, also 4 at a time, and in the exit room of magnet mine you can face up to 3 armageddemon, giving 8000 dark exp each.

Piece of advice I did this thing with DNA digivolving, it will result in the first chosen mon getting a stat boost if it’s not a combo that leads to a unique evolution. I basically spammed this until I got a Justimon with 999 atk

Actually, no. You don’t just have to hack the game to get the Legend Tamer quest. It’s actually unlocked by being a Platinum Tamer and doing EITHER the Wi-Fi connection(impossible after 2014) OR by doing LOCAL MULTIPLAYER business like trading Digimon, fighting each other’s teams, sending a Digimon from one game to the other, or(the biggest thing to do that’s recommended when you have both Dawn and Dusk in separate DS systems) making DigiEggs.

One way I've done to reduce the endgame grind process was to cancel and restart quests that gives a lot of EXP from quest fights like "Seven Archangels" from Dawn and the two Shadow Abyss quests from Dusk. Later after finishing the Gaia origin quest higher level digimon shows up at certain areas that gives a lot of XP when defeated, although your stats needs to be a lot higher to reliably beat them without any of your digimon constantly dying.

for those who care, a great place to go is the last room in the mine (where you can get moonmon) in dusk and the last room of the mountain (where you get sunmon).

@film fan yes, beat the boss of the quest and cancel. Don't talk to the digimon that gave you the quest because if you talk to them you won't be able to cancel it.

Based on my experience the Digifarm was more meant for passively training up extra Digimon that weren't in your party. I remember using it a lot to fill out my Digidex and help get some cool megas quicker. Also using the farm earlier on like that would of helped you avoid the Farm Quest grinding at the end.

I never beat Platinum rank so I never got that far, and even though I can never do it physically now (not doing an emulator for the grind lol) I’m happy just knowing they make a cameo. Man, Gaia Origin really activated the memories I had for this and its sister game Dawn. I remember doing long grinding sessions in preparation for the whole sequence and was so excited when I completed it the first time and got Gallantmon CM's data because it was an intense grind getting there. That being said, younger me also didn't ever know about the Legend Tamer quest existing and just thought Platinum Rank was I unlocked it using two DS copies and seeing what was up with the online component of these games (Turns out you kind of have to do some Egg creation to unlock some Digimon lines for each game like Keramon for Dawn and Guilmon for Dusk so good call not trying to do this as Eggs also have a set pool of each of the many types that exist and set of conditions for creation). Which made it real fun seeing the Burst Modes and Chronomon for the first time, including getting the data for his in-Training form. Also I remember explicitly not wanting to do the Farm quests because not only were they cryptic in-game (Some NPCs give you hints to varying degrees of use as you play the game) but also were going to be retreads of old areas. Even young me knew how much of a timesink the sidequests in the game were. Something I don't think you did was also getting the data for Calumon which is found by interacting to Calumon on the fixed bridge connecting the two... Cities? Towns? Villages? Headquarters? Main HUD areas. After finishing the Legend Rank quest; which while not that riveting of an reward, is a neat thing to get because it has a passive that increases EXP gain for those collecting needs. After all, farm Island can only get you so far. Also you get to use the little thing in battle after seeing it be so prominent in Digimon Tamers and never throwing hands.

Even though I haven't seen your first video on Digimon Dusk, this was a fascinating video! It was informative and funny! The postgame is decent for those looking for more adventures in Digimon World Dawn/Dusk. I've always heard good things about the DS Digimon World (aka Digimon Story) games from fans. I've only played Digmon World 1 and Digimon World 3/2003 (US Version)....And Digimon World 4.......and Digimon World: Data Squad. * sigh * It takes me back to when I picked Digimon World: Data Squad up for my Birthday, and the GameStop guy thought I ordered Digimon World Dawn. Maybe that was a sign I should've ordered Dawn instead, as Data Squad bored me to death with the high random encounter rate and its very slow battle system. Half the time I forgot what I was trying to do or where I was trying to go. Though I made it to the Final Boss, I never did beat him. I even tried doing the bonus bosses in the Ice Labyrinth for training. But then I got lost in the cave and I couldn't beat the bonus bosses I did find. I finally got tired of all the loading screens, didn't feel like trekking all the way back to the exit, and put the game down forever. Although I wanted to see everything the game had to offer, I think I was trying so hard to convince myself I didn't waste a birthday present. .....at least it came with Stickers.

I remember Gaia Origin being the point where I finally had to give in and grind... Until I remembered the Black AGumon I got as a starter had been in the DigiFarm for hours and been trained up to a Machinedramon with stats that made him a god among men cutting down a lot on grinding as beating them actually became quite feasible as long as I made carful use of healing game mechanics and kept an eye on how I spent every single turn, was extremely satifwying when I eventually beat them, but due to me playing the post game irregularly in 30 minute sessions right before school at the time and several rage quits (plenty months at a time) by the time I finally beat the entire postgame 6 years had passed since I started the playthrough (still easily my most memorable gaming moment tho). BTW if you ever replay I recommend doing the ranking up battles as they come along, they're a nice challenge like that and actually give you bonuses to the amount of scan % you get from wild Digimon encounters making it easier to actually Digiconvert some at a high percentage (converting at a higher percentage instead of as soon as it hits 100% gives a stat boost). Also equipment is something not to sleep on as well as digivolution and degeneration (resets digimon to level 1 massively speeding up level gain and rasing stats fast), for a long time I didn't pay much attention to these but they make a world of difference. Hints for the Farm Quest were given out by NPC's in the new hub areas you unlock throughout the game, one of this games biggest weakpoints is how some really cool things are only told to you by obscure NPC's like how there an NPC in a shop that tells you combinations for DNA digivolution and the ones he tells you changes depending on your progress in the game, it's cool if you find and figure it out but it's unintuitive so I magine many players never came across alot of these NPCs

In defense of the farm quests, sidequests 02 to 07 can be found on the Dark Terminal areas you restore: Dark E Area will actually tell you which personality to get, but Dark S Area and Dark N Area only have them talk in a certain way and from there you guess the personality (or look up a FAQ). Still don't know where to find the peeps that tip sidequests 08 and 09 though. Still, glad you stuck with Lunamon. I adore the line but by the gods the devs screwed her over: every other line has at least one form where they gain stats different (Attack, Tank, Technical, Speed, HP, MP) but the Lunamon line is entirely "Balance" which means their stats will develop evenly but also will not excel at any particular area, taking ages to get more stats compared to other mons who have preferences towards different stats as they evolve. And for the version-exclusive mons you can get almost everything by having someone to pair with, even if both are using the same version, as eggs are created by pairing up specific mons or types at certain levels so you can get Guilmon in Dusk despite him being a Dawn exclusive. I think the only one you need the opposite version to get is the mascot, as only Apollomon and Dianamon can produce the baby egg which hatches into either Sunmon or Moonmon.

the farm quests, at least some of them, are told to you by talking to NPCs in the first "unlocked" new shopping area early on. I think others are just told from random NPCs in the city

The grinding game is insane, even in postgame, if you want some digimon. I remember the effort it took me to get and Agumon and Gabumon and then evolving them to their last stage, then DNA digivolve into Omegamon. I also wanted a zeedmilleniummon but i couldnt keep. 14:33 i don't know if this is scripted but i like to pretend that you choosing to not let Koh into your house made Chief Julia and Him actually closer. So you only have yourself to blame

These video remind me Cyber Sleuth's focus on ACTUALLY COMPETITIVE ONLINE was why I play it and go "I wish there was NG+ in DUSK" because yes not every Digimon is connected but you can DNA a lot like WORLD 2 style and abilities matter more to team build instead of SLEUTH META. I really want a DIGIMON DS collection or even DIGIMON WORLD'S STORY collection, just all the old games in one disc or cartridge! 😢

As a kid, I remember grinding for days to beat Gaia Origin, and when I did I barely beat them, but since I wanted to finish the Digipedia I grinded a lot before my brother got Dawn, so the Legend Tamer quest wasn't that hard. I did a nuzlocke in the game recently, and since I didn't want to lose to Gaia Origin and I didn't know their stats, I accidentally over grinded and crushed them (I had a stat at 999 on some Digimon, whoops)

Awesome video man!, i like it a lot, i'm sorry for what happen with Julia tho, Koh really push it this time, anyway, i wil like to tell u that are some special wild strong digimon that gives huge exp for a faster grinding because can appear in groups of four!, this digimon can be encounter in different places in the two games: SaberLeomon (Dusk) Lvl 71: Can be found in the Proxy Island Darkdramon (Dawn) Lvl 70: Can be found in the Access Glacier Argomon Ultimate Lvl 78 (Dusk): In the Thriller ruins Anubismon Lvl 80 (Dawn): In the Thriller ruins Armageddemon Lvl 93 (Dusk): Magnet Mine Imperialdramon FM Lvl 90 (Dawn): Task Canyon (Each of this digimon can be found at the end of their area after beating the gaia origin quest and reclaimed it) Also u can boost ur exp more with some exp boosting trait and a exp ring Theta Lucky Gods is the trait that can boost ur exp and some digimons have it like Alphamon and MarineAngemon , there are others that have it. Exp ring Theta can be found in the second area of Transfield in a chest. Lucky Gods doesn't stack with other traits but does stack with the ring, so having these two in a team member (this team member can be in the relief group and the effect will still be active) will boost ur exp. I think you'd probably enjoy Digimon Cyber Sleuth as it has a story that is mainly connected to its sidequel game Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory which both come in the same collection for more modern systems. My recommendation though is the Switch version as the Switch's Sleep Mode makes grinding not a huge pain since it will act as if the game is still running over night. Its also generally streamlined and easy to learn and play. The only real downside given what I've seen of your Dusk run is it doesn't exactly have a full 3 Mon team as Dusk and Dawn do at the start and gives 1 Starter Digimon ala Pokemon. But the other two options you don't pick are also available in the main story so you aren't locked from using them. You will also need to look up grinding Memory items as that helps to up your team size and how strong your mons can be on the team.

Lore-wise, Tamers are a secondary way for Digimon to get stronger. Digimon that have Tamers absorb their strength *directly* from the Tamers themselves; usually through their emotional state, and/or quality of their care. Digimon that have strong bonds with their Tamers grow to be good, heroic Digimon that will defend their Tamers with their lives… while Digimon that get abused tend to Digivolve into evil, monstrous Digimon that will attack or even outright kill their Tamers. (See: SkullGreymon, Wendigomon, and Megidramon) Naturally, Digimon without Tamers can *only* get stronger by defeating and absorbing the data of other Digimon; the Chaotic “eat or be eaten” philosophy. …and you can see why that is not a good thing for Digimon who just want to coexist in peace. When Digimon have *two* power sources to draw from (their Tamers and the data of other Digimon), you can see why Digimon *with* Tamers have the potential to grow MUCH stronger than Digimon without one. The problem… is that the gluttonous, selfish Digimon that live to subjugate/consume their brethren tend to not comprehend why Tamers are beneficial; for obvious reasons. …and the *other* problem is that not all Digimon games convey the symbiotic relationship between Tamers and Partner Digimon well; especially for a game designed like a numbers-based dungeon-crawling RPG. V-Pet sims like Digimon World, Re:Digitize, Next Order, and even the visual novel Digimon Survive (along with the several anime) communicate this point much easier. Hell, even Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory briefly addresses the concept during the Sistermon training mission with Nokia.

The tips for sidequest were in the shop areas, all the digimons there are the ones you need to have for the quests, and then talking with em would give you the personality idea, but yeah, kinda odd how they made those quests.

I will note about the farm quests, in some of the areas that are restored to Darkmoon City and such, there are Digimon with new stores there but also some you can talk to. I know that some of them there mention about a farm quest thing but that’s about the only hint you get. And there is a tamer in the city that will mention about 3 strong Digimon appearing in certain areas. Dawn and dusk both have 1 of them considered as a ‘Superboss’ kinda deal and can have anywhere from 1-3 in a battle. Dusk is in the Mine area at the very last room where it’s a dead end with a transport pad. That would be Armageddemon and honestly, if you can beat that, leveling is a joke later. Dawn’s ‘Superboss’ is ImperialdramonFM in one of Dawn’s exclusive areas, can’t remember its name though. Same principle, in the last room. Edit: also no spoiling but… If someone had played Digimon World DS, they do have quests related to farm Digimon there too. A whole tab for them.

I loved this game as a kid! Had most of my favorites in it. I always thought the whole Julia and Koh thing was so weird though. It's only mentioned like 2 or 3 times and what is supposed to be the age difference?? the tamers all seem like kids but the chiefs adults. P.S. I always felt bad for Raigo since he was in love with Chief Julia too hehe. :(

I feel you'd enjoy Digimon World DS quite a bit more than Dusk/Dawn due to how it respects your time by not forcing you to do sidequests just to proceed with plot + having an actually competent story. In general though, I feel these DS Digimon games suffer from not having any strategy that isn't "use an attack that is only separated by how strong it is and how many spaces it occupies". There's not really a lot of emphasis on status effects for one, which would at least affect how you deal with encounters. In my opinion if the game utilized a bigger emphasis on team composition and utility, we could let the player bypass needing to grind to infinity. Also the long drawn out animations for both attacks and enemies entering fights. Cyber Sleuth at least did one of these right. Tldr: I like your videos and hope to see more from you.

You should try Cyber Sleuth, the complete edition one. You have the option to choose Easy or Hard mode on the fly, so you don't really need to grind too much if you go easy mode. Also, grindings are way easier with passives from the poop mons.

I played that game and I still have original. I remember devolved from mega to baby Digimon. To beat Gaia I didn't struggle. But I grind alot. Idk if you are aware both there were 2 strong Digimon that gave out alot exp. In Paradise there was one that gave 25k exp. Then the dark dungeon one that gave 80k. I normally gring them. They only appear after Gaia tho

On a side note a steam sale starts tomorrow and I plan to get cyber sleuth, and in my opinion digimon is currently doing better than pokemon quality wise.

I started a playtrough of world dawn a few months ago. I still need to finish some things on that playtrough. as in couple farm quests, the platinum test and the last quest. and I knew what team I wanted from the start, so I built good shit. from the beggining I knew I wanted imperialdramon PM so I started gathering the various pieces I needed for that. last I left that save file it had omnimon and imperialdramon DM and Im basically just leveling those to max before I fuse them together. and goddanm, not even those assholes, 2 of the strongest digimon in the game are enough to beat some of the post game digimon like darkdramon and anubismon without going trough multiple denerations and evolutions. mind imperialdramon PM requires 2 prior DNA evolutions, 1 of which is a fusion of 2 megas and the other having to denerate back and forth once. all I gotta say is thank god the transfield has this area in the dark zone that has all attributes in the game and u can just grind a lot of EXP from there. I want to work on a lot more stuff in the future, some digimon are ridiculous tho. Im working on gallantmon CM and an alphamon for the main team (shame oryuken mode isnt in this game). in the future I would love to work on a chaosmon, a zeedmileniumon (however the fuck I do that, since that needs so much work alone) and a shinegreymon BM which also requires a bit of work. and then the mother of all grinds. trying to get chronomon which u need to dna digivolve a goddanm susanomon with a valdurmon

so I actually went back to this. finished the game. did make my imperialdramon PM, dukemon CM and alphamon. however I realized both chaosmon and mileniumon are locked behind linking dawn with dusk which is obviously not doable anymore. a shame really. i could cheat them in but it kinda beats the point of making them

Sorry for late to the party Dude. I spent way too much time Digivolving, Degenerating, DNA and again degenerating from that I had a Sleipmon that had moves from a completely unrelated Digi Line. I had a freaking CHART when I was younger!!! I was dedicated to this and it's weird how I basically did it for the shits and giggles XD was worth it but yeah, as much as I love this game and Sun, the grind sometimes is a nightmare. Still fun as hell

Man... Im still kinna sad that we never gonna have a chance to chief Julia. We may became the pride of Nightcrow, but we never get heart of someone we want. That desicion where chief Julia invited Kyo to her home is now my head cannon since it support that dialogue when Julia suports Kyo more than her team mate(players). Putting Julia aside, I'll say Dusk/Dawn is an okay game, but not an okay sequel nor the best digimon game out there. Digimon World Dusk's story is like mixing the edgy/serious and funny at the same time, but did not end well, possibly bcoz the director also decided this story as another piece of puzzle of what is going on at this Digimom universe. Comparing this to prequel, I say Digimon World DS's story is much more heart-warming story just as how Digimon story should be, like yes there is odd going on digital world(always there is) but doesnt matter so as long as u got digimon friends with u + people to admire and look up. In terms of gameplay, kinna safe to say that nothing much has been added to Dusk/Dawn except more Digimon and DNA Digivolution.

I probably should have given this advice sooner but... Degenerating from Mega, all the way down to baby, and then going back to mega... Actually gives you a TON more stats. And eventually, Rainbow Spit if you commit to leveling a baby digimon high enough. AKA: probably the attack that Imperialdramon Paladin Mode's partners in platinum rank probably used to body you.

I played Dawn after i beat Gallantmn CM. I got Gallantmn CM scanned 100% instead of Beelzemon BM scanned 100%. Still remember the late game where stats i want all stats to be 999 and hp ,mp 9999

The intended interaction with the farms was to digiconvert bew digimon, then put them in the farms to level up, swinging by to see if they need to digivolve between quests. There is a chance you'd discover the fsrm quests thst way. Since you were focusing on progression and not engaging in the more side content, you weren't getting the full experiance. As for cyber slueth, calling it a sequel is incorrect. Completely unrelated games, but many of the same mechanics as they are both part of the Digimon Story series of games. (Dusk and Dawn, and even DS before then being a part of the Digimon World series is something that was changed for the international releases)

The most "sequel" Cyber Sleuth gets is Sayo herself showing up in one sidequest(which is DLC or Postgame IIRC) and she is PISSED. The gist of it is that after the events of the game, Sayo's Dianamon was sealed away and forced her to ask the Cyber Sleuth protagonist to help her, in the most unpleasant way possible because she's understandably upset her partner is gone and she can't do anything about it. That said, I like that Sayo came back at all and has a nice update design, really hits that "Dark Type wielding goth girl" energy.

My personal tip for this game? Use an emulator to make things faster. being able to have everything go at 4 times speed really helps with some of the slower aspects of this game. also you can use cheats to help with grinding/make the farm have 99 memory, so that its more useful.

I think you missed some exp spots, but again it's not like the game tell they exist. After Gaia Origin quest there'll be i think 3 new digis that start to spawn in some maps, they are insanely strong and give equally insane amounts of exp, almost sure you can even find up to 3-4 of them in the same battle.
