ඉතාමත් හොඳ පැහැදිලි කිරීමත්. දත්තත් එක්කම අපිව දැනුවත් කිරීම පිළිබඳව ස්තූතියි. ආහාර අපි නිශ්පාදනය කරද්දි එන මිලට වඩා අඩුවට ඉන්දියාව වැනි රටවලින් ගෙන ඒමට හැකි දේ එසේ ගෙනඒම වාසියි සහ දුප්පත් ජනයාට ඒක පහසුවක් බව ඔබ පැවසුවා. මට තිබෙන ගැටලුව එලෙස ඉන්දියාව වැනි රටවල් තරඟකාරී මිල ගනන් වලට ආහාර ද්‍රව්‍ය නිශ්පාදනය කරන්නේ කෙසේද යන්නයි. ඔවුන් කරන අපි නොකරන දේවල් මොනාද යන්න පිලිබ්ඳවත් යම් පැහැදිලි කිරීමක් කරන්න හැකි නම් කන්න තමයි ලොකුම වියදම කියන අයගේ ඇස් විවර වෙයි. හැකිනම් ඉදිරි වීඩියෝවක ඒ අපි ආනයනය කරන රටවල් තරඟකාරී මිල ගනන් වලට අපනයනය කිරීම සඳහා ගෙන ඇති ක්‍රියාමාර්ග මොනවාද යන්න පිලිබඳවත් දැනුවත් කරන්න කියලා යෝජනා කරනවා.

WHT The retired elderly have enormously contributed to this country coffers through their earnings paying heavy taxes during their employment. Why the fiscal policy makers turn a blind eye penalising the retired FD depositors to claim the WHT what they are charged above the 100K ceiling amount to recover the over charged filing papers walking up and down to the inland revenue department ???? This analysis is completely wrong from an economic point of view. Why did you select these controversial times (economic crisis? SL controlled import during this period). I am not sure Economists/economics accept these types of ad-hoc analyses to prove economic liberalization for even A/L students. Trade has not been an engine of economic growth during the last few decades, particularly in developing countries. There are many many empirical studies in econometric time series cross-sectional analyses and CGE modeling. This so-called old-fashioned theory of comparative advantage was proved to be a wrong theory by Wassily Leontief (A well-known trade economist) using the UAS data in the 1930's. This is called the Leontief paradox. This Gentleman's argument for import liberalization is inconsistent with welfare economic theory. This is controversial even with Neo-Classical economics. He says that increasing local food prices hurt consumers. Yes (partially correct). However, an increase in local food prices increases the surplus of domestic producers and increases their welfare and it generates a surplus in the agricultural sector and provides savings which is necessary for capital accumulation in domestic industrial sectors. The other important point is that an increase in consumer price depends on the domestic supply and demand conditions and also the elasticity of demand and supply. Thus, when the country reaches food self-sufficiency, the food prices go down and there would be transformation of agricultural sectors. I can write a book against these nonsensical economic arguments. The modern development concept is sustainable development which is based on nationalistic ideology. The Neo-liberal old-fashioned economic liberalization is even not followed by the USA or other European countries. They protect their agricultural sectors using heavy tariff barriers.
