This episode is around 10 years old from 2010. If you try but a corrado vr6 now in the UK they are around £11,000 for a good one. I guess the car appreciated and prices are still rising

Ed should have remarked on very thoroughly degrease the whole sunroof- mechanism ( especially the rails), because the old grease now 30 years old is starting the trouble. And than after repairing/ changing all broken parts grease it again with the spezial stuff VW is advising for this job. By the way. Perhaps you have luck and your Corrado- sunroof is not working proper because of 2 tiny parts. VW is calling them " Schliessdämpfer"(in Germany). These are 2 tiny rubber-/ plasticrings

...rubber-/plasticrings, which you can see when lifting the roof. They are totally unspectular, but very important for the smooth opening of the roof. They are worn after 30 years and sunroof- troubles often start here. They are not in stock anymore but rings from Golf 3 will work as well.

This is very common in corrados, pro tip: replace the sunroof - take the one from skoda octavia mk1 prelifting. Also: do not open broken sunroof, you can damage the metal sheet/body panel.

The one from octavia dont have this issue. It is probably upgraded in design.

Lol... that's a throwback. I replaced mine myself twice. Once with a Corrado OEM off a wrecked car, and then the last one from a Passat --- yup, near perfect fit and never broke again. BTW, I don't remember bothering with your first steps of removing the interior center parts. Just dropped the headliner, unbolted the whole thing and pulled it all out. And yes, always the same damn part broke.

What year passat? Did you just use the motor or the whole sunroof panel and tray?

@@KevRWDstarlet It would have been the same generation (1992 or so). From what I remember it was the whole thing.... bolted in and only needed to hook up the drains properly and connect the power. This is a reach in my memory though... 30ish years ago.
