Apples and Oranges.
@cheezbomber2 ай бұрын
I would be tempted to try the Wildhorse but agree it's apples and oranges. I do keep seeing the Zegama 2 in certain colors for a fair discount (e.g. $100), but it just didn't feel as supportive and stable, limiting the versatility. The ZoomX cushioning did seem very comfy though. This Trail 5 does have a pretty good step in feel for me! I think the big question will be how the sole holds up long term. But this one is a winner.
@RowOfMushyTiT2 ай бұрын
@@cheezbomber I have both and the Zegama 2 is more stable and supportive, but still bouncy from the ZoomX. However it's quite clunky and heavy and alos I didn't like the fit that much - low over the instep and some heel slip because of the gaitor. Fit is a bit different from other Nikes, it's more Hokaesque. The PT5 is fit is amazing and very comfortable, one of the best. ReactX is a lot softer and more fun to run in. The shoe will struggle because of the softness and no rock plate in technical terrain - it warps too much (think ankle twists). But that's anyway not the use case for this shoe. It works very well as a daily trainer where it's soft and fun and can handle road and forest. High drop also helps calf recovery. This shoe surprised, as the reviews didn't communicate well what this shoe is actually like.

On the back of this review I picked up a pair in the sky blue colour way. had my first few miles in them this week in Portugal whilst on holiday with a 40/60 split between road and sandy trails and I have to say they've been nothing short of exceptional. Grip on sand and gravel has been brilliant. The fit and lacing up is second to non in my opinion. A great do it all shoe. My only slight criticism is the fact it is very warm with not much ventilation. That said , I was running in 25°C temperatures. I'm sure it'll be better in the UK in autumn temperatures.

You might want to look at a pair of ankle boots tbh. Tying laces at the ankle takes pressure off feet. A rigid midsole preferably with a shank for support. Maybe even a pair of Blundstones? Or Caterpillar Colorados. Come to think of it a wedge sole would be awesome with a shank. Something like a Redwing Moc toe which I think were actually designed to be worn on factory floors. When you consider the amount of top grade leather and build quality that goes into Redwings theyre actually well priced when compared to other shoes.

Great review as usual though, MIGHT give this one a go

It makes we wonder what they produce it for. As it’s not an out and out trail shoe neither a road model. I think my home town and Portland have lots in common. Much rain, ( it’s raining now! ) and probably closer to what you would use a standard trail shoe for. But this is close enough for me
@pierrotgodot7 ай бұрын
@@EDDBUD With the new tread pattern I think they are probably producing it for a sort of "rail trail" or light park trail type setting.
