Eddie has no interest in the Labour Party, as he said in the interview he’s not even a party member. And a couple of good trade unionists in the backbenches wouldn’t change the party. They’d still have to toe the liberal whip in the party under Starmer. I believe in his younger days he was aligned with various parties including CPB and SLP but I don’t think he was terribly involved and remained on fringes of politics. In reality this is probably better for trade unionists, court the support of smaller, more genuinely left wing parties that already have made firm commitments to trade unions and workers rights unlike Labour.

We have a shortfall of 340,000 houses a year if the government built those houses, we would make in profit at least £14 billion a year and then the beauty of it is, it only requires one windfall tax on the wealthy as we reinvest the rest into the next 340,000 houses next year and the year after until we need no more. We can put the housing on brownfield sites reguivinating inner city and high streets. Unlike private enterprises that like using greenfield. But the issue is the government makes money and in a tory neoliberal world that's worse than homeless people d ying in the street

Something I think a lot of people have to come to terms with is that the rising cost of living, rising wealth inequality, parasitic landlordism, etc. is not going to stop without direct action. If we're a vehicle headed off a cliff edge, then before we can even think about stopping we need to wrench the controls out of the hands of the capitalists and landlords that are remote controlling that vehicle. Both Eddie and Mick Lynch make their point in an eloquent, cogent and calm manner that is very different from the traditional image of the stroppy 'red' union man from the past, that alienated a lot of people. As he says too, it's apparent that they are simply attempting to address the issue of inequality and not only for their members but working people generally. The idea of greedy unionists holding the country to ransom has gone because men like Eddie are speaking for the many now, not simply a small group. The extreme-right ideology of the Truss government might end up being what finally galvanises people for change and hopefully sinks the party.

I admire Mick and Eddie more than the trades union leaders from the days of nationalised industries and the objective of full employment. To be born into a world of neo-liberal and neo-con extremism and still retain societal values is to be applauded. To hear continuous propaganda of no alternative it would be no surprise of surrender as most others have, e.g. the Labour party. I was a rep. During Bob Crow's presidency and was unable to understand why workers would give their allegiance to new Labour, an affront to the 3rd estate. Everything that has happened is now coming to fruition, the rulers having made out like bandits whilst overseeing the destruction of the foundations of society. If only the electorate would realise that continuing to vote for the same system and expecting a different outcome is insanity.

What will happen in this country of ours when Mass Industrial Action which is building, is met by Massed Police Forces or Even the Armed Forces, such as happened with the Miners Strikes when thatcher used the Police as her own private army, secret documents have shown that Armed troops were on the streets of the UK on 'Exercises'. It's also telling the there is an increasing gap between the Unions which represent Millions of ordinary people from the Working Classes and Labour which seems to increasingly represent the Middle Classes and is more like the Liberal Democrats/Soft tory. Maybe that's why Eddie Dempsey and Mick Lynch don't really seem too bothered about the Labour Conference or attending it.
