Indeed. And if Hagar didn’t join VH, he would’ve disappeared and no one would remember him. Whatever one thinks of Van Hagar, the band continued to be successful and survived the ‘90s; if Hagar remained solo, he would’ve disappeared by the time 1991 rolled around.

No way the Van Belcher, version ever came close to equaling the original version on stage. I've seen the footage and it was horrible. In his day Diamond Dave was the best who ever did it. At the time we could have never guessed that Dave was so weird. In the early 80's he was the f' ing man.

One of my great friends worked security for a company here in NC in the 80s. He got me backstage for ACDC, Aerosmith, and Van Halen 1984 tour. I did not speak to anyone and being backstage was over rated. This was before selfies. Edward Van Halen is the only person who acknowledged me. He handed me a Schlitz Malt Liquor 22 ounce beer. The people around me tried to get a swallow, but I drank it and kept the can. He opened it, so I had to drink it. So, I always thought good things about him. Also, he did his solo in front of me looking me in the face when he was doing the key board fold out part on his guitar. Should have asked for a pick.

8/10 most streamed VH songs on Spotify for 2023 were DLR era songs. First Hagar song (Why Can't This Be Love) appeared at #8 (and the other one, "Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do" at #9). So 80% of the Top 10 in the most recent year (2023) was DLR era. And the amount of DLR era streams WAY out performed Hagar cause the #1-#7 most streamed had WAY more streams, per song, than the #8/#9 most streamed.

Thankfully, Dave, Eddie, and Alex reconvened and gave the fans what they needed with a new album and tours. Sammy can't get over that it ended without him and always is pointing fingers and laying blame. Seeing Dave with them together for the one only time I did in Buffalo was pretty surreal, and them playing Woman in Love, I'll Wait, and Hear About it Later where highlights of my life.

My biggest gripes from the BOAW tour clips that I've seen on youtube- only three Roth era tunes and they are overplayed Jump, Panama and Ain't Talking bout Love. I love Joe's playing until the solos where he does his own thing. Not exactly a tribute in my opinion. I love all eras of VH but every time I hear Belcher talk about Van Halen I want to puke. He whines like a baby.

@almosthuman56 not so. His last name is Hagar, as was his father and grandfather. A DNA recently revealed however that he doesn't have the DNA of anyone from America with that last name. Some digging revealed that somewhere back in the family tree, that one of his great grandparents might not have been faithful and his DNA matches a belcher family, which it was determined that there were several men within 20 miles of Hagars family in Virginia a few generations ago.

David Lee Roth Van Halen is untouchable I 💯 agree. Hagar stuff is ok but the for unlawful carnal knowledge in my opinion is his best work. I got really tired of Hagar's songs with love in the title. Sammy should not do any solo material whatsoever if he's doing the van Halen tribute. I also hated Sammy singing his solo material when he was with Van Halen. Sammy can't accept that Alex doesn't want to do this ridiculous act of some kind of van Halen cash in tour. I totally understand Alex not wanting to do it. Satriani should only be doing Van Halen material as well. It's just a circus act that I won't ever go see

couldn’t agree with you one iota more, Ralph - the sight of Sammy’s wrinkled old face (not to mention the sound of his stupid voice) makes me want to tear my hair out! i’m a lifelong VH fan (the real one) and i think this whole tour is a joke! also i’m glad you mentioned how bad Jason Bonhams drum kit looks (and let me preface this by saying i LOVE Led Zeppelin and i’ve been playing drums since i was a kid and i have the Bonham “rings” symbol tattooed on my arm and i even met Jason at a meet and greet several years ago so no disrespect intended) - like dude we all know he was your dad, enough already. this ridiculous tour is coming to a venue less then 2 miles from my house and i could go FOR FREE and i too will be painting a wall then watching it dry that day and will be a damn sight happier. you rule Dr. Fukk!! 🤘🏼 oh and you forgot to mention that ole Sammy Belcher recently said in an interview that this tour is more Van Halen than Van Halen!!??!! dude the ONLY thing that is tied to the original Mighty Van Halen is the fact that sammy’s wife Michael Anthony was in original line up - and check out videos from this tour when they get to the “are there any specials tonight” bit from the middle of their lame opening song “Good Enough”, BEYOND laughable! 😆😆😆

Hagar won't even let Michael Anthony sing all the DLR stuff. He can't let MA upstage him you know. I know that EVH was pissed that Hagar was so obsessed with marketing the weak Cabo Wabo water, that Hagar got a tattoo on his arm to circumvent the agreement they reached that Hagar wouldn't mention the brand during the 2004 tour.
