Fascinating to see their Irons. I had an Edel putter fitting today and the craftsmanship and effort that goes into their clubs is pretty special. I'm not mad keen on one-length irons (love Mizuno irons) but if i did try them I would definitely seek out the Edels.

This video is edited really well indeed. The story-line is well laid out, with Mark going from course to dry data and back again with a seamless script. Well done Mark. I like it. I don't need to see you put out the greens on these club tests though. Once you're on the green, I'm ok... enough.

It would be neat to have 3-7 at a single length, then have 8 - PW stay the traditional length. I could get behind short long irons, just not long short irons.

I love the look of them. I would love them. The fact they have a 3 iron in the set is cool. Cobra stops at 4 iron and i think the Sterlings stop at 6 iron then 5 hybrid. The Paederson shafts are amazing as well. I could give them a good home if you dont want them. Pretty please!!! lol.

Played the Cobra F7 and F8 and then forged one lengths for the past 4 years, my iron striking and consistency greatly improved. Played Mizuno JPX Forged prior. Guess my iron play was so good it was getting boring, so I went back to variable length and I hate them. Now trying other one length irons to see what I might like. Tried the 1 Irons, didn't care for the shafts. Tried the Gria Golf hybrid irons, loved the way they felt, liked the shaft, but hit them high and lost a lot of distance...but they were stupid easy to hit and very consistent. Just ordered a set of the Giga Golf because they have a 30 day play guarantee and they are cheap...who knows, they might be just fine. Been trying to get a local fitter for the Wishon line to respond, but no one has...even emailed Wishon and no response. Tried the new Radspeed OL at the PGA store, they were awesome and crazy long...carrying a 5 iron 205-210...but over 1k for a set right now since they are new. I like the look of the Edel's, seem like Mark liked them as much as he could like a OL iron...even though they are expensive, going to find a local fitter to at least give them a go. I'm 47 and been playing a high level of soccer all my life, still playing in young man's really good leagues, but leaning heavy towards getting better at golf and doing less damage to my body at this point in golf. In 3 years I've come down from the mid 90's to low 80's very consistent with multiple rounds under 80 this year, so I feel now is the time to attack this game. Love your content Mark.

Hey Mark, love that your picking up clubs that are much more fit-focused and spread across all brands within the industry. Love to see a head to head comparison between these single length irons and the Wishon Sterling irons (which I know you tested). Curious differences in the technologies used in those 2 sets: this one using COG and shaft design for gapping and flight shape which the Sterlings using a single shaft, but with different metals in the heads as well as face design changes through the set. Seeing how both perform side by side on a swing monitor in the studio would a great video!

Definitely got to get fitted for these. I went for 3/4/5/6 and once the shaft transition was sorted even changing the weighting in the heads really affected descent angle/distance and gapping....probably easier for higher SS players IMO in the long irons. One thing I loved (although thought I would hate tbh) is playing longer "short" irons. Dispersion improved massively and numbers were spot on for distance control...I guess I just swang smoother with the longer club which in turn felt more controllable. Very pricey though no doubt...I guess the jury's out on these still for many people. I like them though.

I tried the cobra one length and found that gapping was an issue for me. The 4-6 were 5-6 yards gapped when my irons (when I was playing di9s) were 7-9 yards. Not a huge difference but when I got to the 9-pw and they were 10-12 yards gapped and my Wilson's were still 7-9. Just did not feel on course that they could be consistent. I now play the callaway big bertha irons, they are almost like hybrids through out. Didn't think I would like them at first but love the feel and the consistency

Definitely the mizuno iron. I don't like the thick top line and the off set of the Edel irons. I could be interested in single length for the long irons, but then keep standard length on the short irons. For ideally 6, 5, 4 and 3 irons single length and standard for 7 - lob wedge? I don't know if that would work or just confuse even more?

I’ve had all sorts of single length irons. Currently have the cobra king forged that Bryson games. They are really nice to hit feel wise, but no question these Edel single lengths are special. The craftsmanship and precision that goes into Edel is what makes them so much more expensive then other single length. The same as Mizuno vs Miura. No comparison in price or quality/feel. Once you hit a Miura hand forged iron, Mizuno’s don’t even exist. And I love Mizuno so not saying anything bad about them of course. Not many people want to pay 3000 US for 7 irons though but if you do, Edel is king of single length and Miura would be king of forged blades.

For some reason I'm reluctant to try one-length, although logically they make a lot of sense to me. The fact that I just picked up a new set of JPX-900 tours is probably swaying me :-). Still, part of me thinks this approach could become the default in years to come. One question about the feel - since they have varying face thicknesses to assist with gapping, does the impact feel change from club to club?

I think the only query or issue I'd have is you have to go back to longer shafts if you have your hybrids and 3 woods etc. So it would be a marked difference and you'd need to be comfortable with that change up. But if you are - I reckon they're a bloody good concept. I love swinging my 7 iron as most do I'm sure.

IMHO... Faster swinging players struggle with gapping. My normal 4 iron srixon z745 is 200m carry. 3900-4500 spin subject to strike. The only way to know about one length irons is to try them yourself....I ran into a Cobra demo recently and got to try them; the longer irons were so much easier to hit and still delivered the distance. The short irons were easier too; a full swing with a 60 degree wedge (at 7 iron length), consistency produced 80 yards distance.... it is a bit strange to to make such a big' swing; but these one length clubs work....I will consider them in the future for sure. Carly Booth was present at the demo and she was political in her answer; but hesitant to game them. I guess the masses will follow, when more top pro's start playing them and more brands put one length option in their line up.
@garysmith707 жыл бұрын
The Edel`s look bloody awesome but the price is Massive. I would love to try them. There is the Mizuno MP18 who would turn their nose up at those probably the finest clubs on the market at this present time. They are at a more sensible price,

Been waiting for a review of these (honest review that is 👍👍👍). Edel put a lot of work into those shafts as they claimed, that in the longer irons it is so difficult to get the launch up that they couldn't get it to work in steel. Those shafts are meant to have different numbers of layers in various places in order to get the launch up. Was there a big difference in peak height between the 4 and 3 iron ???
@444emann7 жыл бұрын
7 iron to 3 iron same length is a good idea - makes it easier. 7 iron to PW is a bad idea- makes it more difficult.
@legend90187 жыл бұрын
Eamon Mann agreed, I think the future of single length may be a split set where 4-7 are all the same length and 8-LW are conventional lengths.
@perlangefors53047 жыл бұрын
I would say that it is the opposite that is more likely the future. You need a high swing speed to hit the low loftet irons.
@legend90187 жыл бұрын
Per Langefors possibly however as shaft technology improves I think that a shaft with the proper balance/kickpoint and tip section could provide a "truer" launch in those long irons. It would really be a very custom fit set with a specific shaft in the 3 iron, 4 iron etc and on down while maintaining single length.
@danboustead24387 жыл бұрын
Per Langefors In the case of these irons the high swing speed is simply not true. I got fitted for a set last week and I am not a massively fast swinger etc and I found the 3 and 4 irons ridiculously easy to hit. I got decent launch angles however it really does need to be paired with the right shaft for your swing speed etc. Some I tried wouldn’t go more than 15ft off the ground. If anyone bought these clubs without being fitted I’d imagine they’d hate them. I would also say that whilst they felt weird the PW and SW were really very easy to hit. I won’t go it’s them as I like my wedges so I’m going down the 3-7 (Edal) and 8 downwards my Callaways.
@JJ-lm4pg7 жыл бұрын
I have the edels sls from 4-SW, every club especially the wedges are easy to control.
@richiehunt50977 жыл бұрын
It's not exactly single length. I mean, they can be if you want them to be. But they can also make half your irons one length and the other half another length. Or you can have 1/3rd of the clubs one length, 1/3rd a different length and another 1/3rd a different length.
@DanB-7 жыл бұрын
I would love to try the one length out just out of curiosity, I cant really see them as anything but a gimmick though otherwise more pros would have changed, they are hardly working very well for Bryson..... Long irons have already been replaced with a easier to hit option in hybrids which are much more versatile than irons as a bonus.
@Tartan7 жыл бұрын
Hardly working well for Bryson Dechambeau? What, you mean having a very successful amateur career with them, turning pro and picking up 2 professional wins?
@DanB-7 жыл бұрын
Yep, Without his win this year the guys done nothing and neither have these irons. If a club comes out that looks like its making the game easier then the pros are going to be all over it, just look at the tour spider :D

Dan B . You are certainly hard to please. The guy won two of the top amateur events and a PGA tour event. Obviously you have made up your mind and any facts that contradict your opinion are ignored.
@DanB-7 жыл бұрын
Your opinion is not a fact, neither is mine, missing the cut in over half his entered tournaments however is fact, winning one event on tour is a fact to. I would love to be in his position he has achieved a lot in his life, but as a pro golfer the majority of his time has been spent missing cuts(again fact not opinion) :) Its all subjective but the point im making which you all seem to have missed and focused on a lad made famous for using weird clubs and a hat if these clubs provided any improvement over standard sets more pros would be playing them, I dont know how anyone can argue/debate that??
@Tartan7 жыл бұрын
You made a silly and ignorant comment. The lad has reached the top 0.1% of people in his chosen field, so obviously his choice of clubs has worked rather well for him, even if he never wins another tournament. He has achieved more than millions of other aspirants.

I went with the Sterling Single length earlier this season and liked them but the short irons (8, 9 , PW , SW ) kept going left and killed my scores , sold them and went back to a Mizuno MP-64 blades and scores dropped ! @MrMalditor7 жыл бұрын
At nearly $2000 for a set of irons I'm not sure I'd be interested in these. It's possible that one length irons would give me some more consistency in my iron game, but given most of my trouble comes from Driver and wedges I doubt it'd really be worth it.

@johnnypenso95747 жыл бұрын
I found a 14 degree driver on the discount rack at SportChek a couple of weeks ago and put a 3 wood length shaft on it and I've been carrying it in place of my 3 wood. I don't hit the 3 wood off the grass most of the time but do hit it off the tee 3 or 4 times a round on many courses. It works really well. Only a couple of inches shorter than my X2 Hot driver but it's much easier to hit and keep in the fairway, while being about about 20 yards shorter. Comes in real handy on the shorter par 4's, tight fairways or when you have a stiff following wind and are going to gain 20-30 off the tee anyway. I'm going to pick up a used 10.5 and shorten up the shaft and see how that works out as well.
