Ford dominates the segment because the explorer is always the sales leader. Period. Ford sold 31,000 explorers in september. Compared to 6,000 for the palisade, this ain't even on America's radar, no matter how much journalists like it. Lol

@@PCSPITTER4NY did you notice that April, May, and June sales where each month Explorer sales were 8000 to 9000 fewer car sales than 2018 sale in these 3 months. Did you also notice no sales figures for July and August then suddenly 31000 for September? If that 31000 is July's, August's and September's sales figures combined, that would mean an average of fewer than 11000 sales for each month. That would be even less than 13000 average from April through June. Someone is biting into these lost Ford sales. -\ Zephyrus /- How’d you gather from my very detailed comment the only reason I prefer other companies is because of Hyundai being located in South Korea? I literally stated some of the reasons why such as inferior engineering, dependability, lack of great styling, originality and innovation. It has literally nothing to do with where the brand is located. The Chevrolet Tahoe is gorgeous inside and out especially in top trim. The features offered, refinement, capability, space, dependability and power are also a few pros of purchasing a new Premier trim Chevrolet Tahoe. The Chevrolet Tahoe will both effortlessly out-perform and out style a Hyundai Palisade for the same money. You’re delusional.

Lol. Well maybe it’s their self destructing engines that catch fire in brand new Hyundai products that’s the reason why, engines which were built in-house by Hyundai Motors btw which they’re under a class action lawsuit for. Maybe not the same money but not far from it and worth the difference in cash. A top of the line Tahoe Premier is $6k and GM is offering over $9,000 in discounts on a new 2019 Tahoe. A top of the line Palisade is nearing $50k itself and is much weaker, less capable vehicle. GM’s V8 engines are definitely refined and the same goes for their 10-speed auto transmission that’s in the Tahoe. You have internet access, do you use it for any other purpose other than being a brainwashed Hyundai/KIA fanboy impressed by their surface beauty? Apparently not. Bad materials? What “bad materials” are inside the Chevrolet Tahoe Premier? You mean the same plastics that are found in the less capable Hyundai? You’re a hypocrite and delusional Korean fanboy. Lol. "Honda declined"...I'm not surprised. I have looked at and tested the Palisade, the Explorer and the Pilot (along with the Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 and Jaguar F-Pace in the luxury segment) and I can tell you that the Palisade and Explorer (and I suspect the Telluride as it is the same platform as the Palisade) ALL ATE THE PILOT FOR LUNCH! The Pilot, even at the elite trim level, cannot hold a candle to the Palisade in regards to trim, quality of materials, features, technology, spacial layout and over all appearance (appearance is simply my opinion). We have owned 2 Honda Odysseys (2008 and 2014) and I will tell you first hand that Honda is not what it used to be in terms of quality and value. Looking at the Pilot Elite, I saw cheap materials throughout, dated technology and features (it had the same DVD entertainment system that was in our 2014 Odyssey Elite). and a cramped feeling. At the Elite trim level, Honda still had way to many incandescent bulbs (even one is too many at that price point), analog gauges in the dash and just an overall feel of desperately needing a refresh/update. Driving the pilot felt like driving the minivan....totally uninspired. I know this segment is not a performance segment, but come on...we did not want to move from a minivan to an SUV to feel like we were back in a minivan. Honda is coasting on their previous reputation of reliability. And that is all it has. Even the MDX (Pilots luxury TWIN) is WAY behind the times....and still quite homely... So, I am definitely not surprised that Honda refused to step up to its competitors in this review, makes total sense once you have personally experienced all of these vehicles. BTW, we replaced the Odyssey Touring Elite with the 2020 Palisade Limited AWD...and man is it STEPS above Honda.... For reference, we also have a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E300 and a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser 4X4, both of which were purchased new.

I agree with Honda still riding the reliability wave , and I think Hyundai / Kia knew that was going to be an issue early on . How do they compete with the infamous reliability? Oh 100K warranty !! It's like a personal challenge towards Honda , like ok you say you're reliable? Put your warranty where your mouth is let's go ! Hyundai is on top of their game . . @@ablue5419 absolutely no car based cross over vehicle truly performs in real, challenging off-road situations and conditions. Even on sand, I have had to use my Toyota FJ Cruiser to help many crossovers, including Pilots (a lot of Pilots actually) get unstuck because they mistakenly thought their vehicle was capable to venture into “off-road” situations. I was the 1st person at the dealer to pick up my 2020 Telluride and I have not been disappointed in any area. As they stated it is smooth, quiet and comfortable with plenty of power not to mention so many safety features and so many standards including such as leather seats. I drove from Michigan to Chicago, Niagra Falls then to Florida and it was so enjoyable to drive. I then went back to Michigan after setting up my own towing package with a 7 pin wire harness and wireless brake controller and hauled my 5000 lb camper down to Florida. I can assure you it pulled the camper with ease and can accelerate and gain speed in the mountain areas. The only issue was sway if you got up to 70mph with high winds but keeping it at 60mph with the winds it was fine. Soooooo happy with the vehicle and this comes from a 30 year Toyota employee who has owned and driven many Toyota trucks and SUV's over my career.

Oddly enough for this review my wife and I test all three multiple times. And in all actuality we were actually in the market to buy the explorer. However after all was said done after driving all three multiple times we settled on the palisade. My wife enjoyed the comfort of the palisade over the telluride and the price point for the explorer was ridiculous in comparison. Telluride felt tighter and more confined to us and the palisade felt roomier. And although telluride is extremely popular we really didn't like the knock off Range Rover look and the boxiness of it. All three are good vehicles but my wife was more into the Hyundai palisade. It has been the best and most favorite vehicle she's ever owned so far. I would say this though the neighbors four houses down also bought the palisade because it was primarily going to be the wife's vehicle. I do kind of have a thought although not proven that males tend to prefer the telluride and a lot of the ladies like the palisade. Once again no facts to stand behind that but kind of seems that way it is.

I think folks are neglecting the S of SUV. The basic premise that gets lost here is Sport = fun, exciting, performance. I think comfort, tech, and big performance is what Ford was shooting for. The ST is the choice and very few cars compare under $80k. Yes you can haul people cargo and trailers but when on the road driving to work every day the Ford is certainly more fun and confident. All these picks are second to larger 3rd row vehicles and minivans if you care to stretch your legs, haul a bunch of suitcases and kids. A team in Florida has the ST running sub 5 second 60s and impressive quarter mile runs. I don't see anyone taking either of those imports to a track or strip. For goodness sake, the Ford ST comes with a track day experience package. Just my thought...

I just bought a 2020 Ford Explorer ST, used, for about $50k. I was cross shopping with the Telluride, Palisade, and Jeep Grand Cherokee L. I know when purchasing the Explorer ST, I was giving up quite a bit of refinement and especially interior quality. But, and this is a huge but, there are large limitations with the Telluride / Palisade driveline. Watch Driving Sports TV's excellent reviews for reference. They put money where they thought most people would notice, on the interior and refinement. Quite frankly, the Ford engine and trans (twin turbo V6 with 10 spd) just outright smokes anything in this segment. The ST accelerates and brakes about as hard as my stock C5 corvette for reference. And it's fun to drive. By comparison, Jeep does excellent awd / 4wd systems better than anything in the segment. If you want to go off road there is really only one choice. BUT, it's engines are too old. I have compared my ST against my brother's WK2 GC 3.6L V6 pretty well. I get better fuel economy while towing the exact same trailer as he does, yet have significantly more power/ torque and performance than the base hemi. Something to keep in mind. Buy a vehicle which is good at what you'll be using it for. I wanted a tough workhorse vehicle which could tow and be fun to drive and that's exactly what I got. Although an enthusiast and I've watched tons of reviews, in this case the Palisade and Telluride were not best for me. And I could easily tolerate the ST's negatives given it's huge positives. Hope that helps.
