On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I spent the majority of my career in the 493rd FS in Lakenheath, UK. The Eurofighter is the best down and dirty knife fighter I've fought south of the F-22. Fighting them made me a better pilot, I'm certain of it. The Rafael in comparison is like a the 'Growler' version of the Eurofighter sort-of, meaning it's not nearly as dangerous as a dogfighter but has a much more fleshed out electronics package, and the French pilots tend to tailor their combat around that benefit.

The Rafael is good, the 22 is far better.

While F22 is a invincible, actually it depends on the missile, the first serial production of SU57 has the RCS around 0.01m2 (as the size of the human fist) so yeah SU57 wins it's radar range but still there the missile which carry on EF typhoon is meteor missile and this missile is more like a payback in which is more deadlier than the AIM 120D.

No photos exist of the fan blades of su-57, the much discussed image online is a proven photoshop. Real stealth capabilities of production version are unknown, looking at exposed rivets on pre-production planes doesnt mean shit either. Luckily they cant afford to build them though.

The Typhoon's frontal RCS is very low due to the S-Duct engines. It also has a very powerful and capable radar coupled with IRST. It's also incredibly capable with regards to EW. I have a friend who works on their avionics for a living and there's some super interesting capabilities it has which aren't known to the majority of people.

The Eurofighter has light stealth capabilities too…I remember in EF2000 (late 90‘s sim) that there were a British (?) development of a near fully stealth medium air-2-air missile called S-225 …which will make full stealth air planes for air-2-air combat almost obsolete. However it was only a prototype

The S225XR Project was a development of Skyflash and was merged with the German A3M concept which were at the time both competing to become Britain's BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile). The A3M was practically identical to the S225XR however the A3M had winglets compared to the S225XR which was a wingless design. There were fears that the inlets would mess up stability so a winged design would be preferred. With the two designs merged, several years down the line we got Meteor. So the S225XR was only ever a prototype but the Meteor made it a reality.

Stealthiness wasn't a major design requirement in the aircraft, I don't think they wanted to sacrifice maneuverability for stealth too much. They just wanted it to be not too easy to detect but didn't really want to commit to making it invisible to radar.

The Su-57 fighter definitely has a reduced cross section, but it is no where near even the F-35. The cockpit has no rcs coating, the engines are round, rivets as mentioned, and giant square intakes. 90 angles kill stealth. This jet, like the J-20 is only Stealthy from from aspect

The EF is actually quite stealthty fron the front aspect.. it was designed that way.. so while not 5th gen and not stealth it still can do very well in BVR due to low RCS from the front, a very good radar and the combination of that with the Meteor. It also has some nasty tricks like the towed decoys.. it can tow a decoy behind producing a larger target ..so an enemy coming from the front might be attacking the decoy without knowing while the EF counters with the Meteor/AMRAAM

The best professional estimates and computer simulations put the SU-57 RCS AT 0.1m2. For comparison the Super Hornet, F-16V, and Eurofighter Typhoon are in the 0.3 to 0.5m2 region. The F-16C is 3 to 5m2 (block dependent) the F-15c around 15m2. The never built F-15 silent eagle got its RCS down to about 3m2. The F-22 publically released RCS by thr USAF in 2008 was smaller then 0.002m2.

The one thing the SU-57 does have going for it is internal weapon bays. Unless I'm completely mistaken those figures were probably calculated on clean airframes without targeting pods or missiles draped under the wing. So even if the SU-57 is only marginally superior in cross section to say, a Eurofighter - the moment you start hanging munitions off the wings it will start to favor the Felon a little more.

Would be really awesome to know true specifics from the Byelka-AESA from the Felon compared to the CAPTOR-E from the EF. Would not be that surprised, if the EF actually has the edge when it comes to earlier detection and possible weapon-lock. Even though the Felon has a smaller RCS.

The model of the EF2000 is interesting. The Richthofen air wing does exist but ther is no 98+29 model number. Like at all. The eurofighter is the one of the, if not the most capable gen 4+ fighter

The 98+29 was an early test version of Tranche 1 EF 2000. I looked it up too xD. This aircraft was retired in December 2005, you can visit the Flugwerft Oberschleißheim in Munich the aircraft is in the museum's inventory.

According to a patent application by sukhoi the rcs of the felon is .1-1 m^2. The f22 is stated to be around .0001 m^2. The typhoon is around .5.

For a supposedly stealthy aircraft, the Su-57 sure does have a lot of exposed bare metal. I completely believe that it has a lower RCS than a Flanker, but it'd be honestly quite hard to think of any fighters that would have a larger RCS than the giant Flanker family, other than the equally gargantuan MiG-25 and MiG-31.

The su57 with bare metal were prototypes The actual full production su57 should have what you'd expect from a stealth fighter. In fact the su57 may have the capability to hunt down other stealth fighter, cause it may have have secondary radars that operate in the L band

That's because apparently you're unable to read and understand what you're reading, or you rely completely on others telling you things. The Russian RCS numbers available represent AVERAGE RCS. The US RCS represent OPTIMAL minimum. Try giving a Hornet a full weaponload and then turn it around so that it's biggest RCS shows and the result is HUGE. Something along the lines of 45-60sqm. Because you're looking at the whole underside including weapons. Even the F-22 gets well above 1sqm RCS from its worst angles. And the F-22 is a good stealth aircraft. Best attempt at a guesstimate on the F-22 i've seen concluded that it probably had an average RCS somewhere in the 0.2 to 0.7 sqm range. At that point, 1sqm looks quite decent. IIRC, Super Hornet has something like 25-35sqm average RCS.

I think the DCS version of Su57 might not be technically accurate. Su57 apparently has a L band slat mounted radar in addition to the X band fire control radar. Su57 should have found the Eurofighter earlier. Also Su57 have automatic counter measure for both heat seeking and radar guided missiles that are automatically deployed or at command of pilot. Anyways a very interesting simulation which clearly shows the Eurofighter with Captor-E and Meteor combo’s superiority in Air to Air combat in BVR.

Typhoon and SU-57 have similar RCS (by Sukhoi's own admission) and the CAPTOR-M (-E isn't implemented yet) is one of the best in the business - at least on par with many AESA's and the main reason why the -E is taking so long to develop as its got to be worth the upgrade for people to buy it. As a result, it's pretty accurate that the Typhoon and SU-57 are seeing each other at fairly similar ranges.

Su57 might not be as stealthy as F22, but should be close. Su57 also having all aspect radars (frontal, side looking and a rear facing one as well), might definitely have better situational awareness compared to Typhoon.

@@subram2011 it isn't close though. It's not even remotely close. The SU-57 will likely have slightly better side aspect than the Typhoon but the rear will be better for the Typhoon as it's smaller and the SU-57 has no features from the rear. The only 5th gen that does is the F-22.

Actually SU57 gets first see on a radar of EF Typhoon, than EF typhoon able to see the SU57 at the range of 10 to 15 miles, but actually the RCS of SU57 has around 0.01m2 (as the size of the human fist) so yeah SU57 wins it radar range, but still the missile which carry on EF typhoon is meteor, this missile is like a payback is which more deadlier than the AIM 120D. In first move SU57 able to dodge the meteor missile, but then the same meteor missile able to get track again and this time it was able to hit the target. But surprisingly the pilot is save which is a good point that the SU57 is made of strong metal such as stallium with titanium on it.

DCS is supposed to be a simulation, but you have to input proper parameters if you want proper results. What you're saying is quite obvious (although it looks like many don't know about it). So we can only see something useful when both are official modules, those are not, hence this is an entertaining vid but aside of that you cannot draw any conclusions about how effective this or that aircraft is nor even it's very basic capabilities as the characteristics are speculative and imaginary. Honestly, I don't see any 5th gen. aircraft coming to DCS ever, nor any other highly classified project.

The Su-57 did do things in Syria. I believe they fired a couple of hypersonic missiles while they were there. Maybe the Su-57 is a worthy match for the fifth generation or Fourth. We don't know if the F-22 and 35 are a match against the Su-57 or J-20🤷🏽‍♂️. Fifth generation is all on paper and never actually been combat tested except scaring F-4 Phantoms.

Sure these mods are pretty much an estimate and not an exact match to the real thing. The Felon has a canopy bow that impede vision of it's pilot and sends a radar return.
