First Tip: Start slow with any routine! For example, add the differin, use it for a month, wait for your skin to get adjusted, and then add the benzoyl peroxide in the morning!
Second Tip: Wait 2-3 months to see results with your acne! Be consistent. Patience and consistency are key!
Third Tip: The moisturizer and sunscreen here are interchangeable. Just use ones you already have or pick ones you like!

NO. I have naturally oily acne prone skin. Adapalene and acids like glycolic and salicylic, hyaluronic acid, and benzoyl peroxide should not be used in the same routine. It is VERY drying. This caused flaking and drying and reactive acne. My skin was so tight and dry after washing, toning, and adapalene. I recommend a basic gentle cleanser without those items above!

Earlier my face looked dry and dull constantly, even in the mornings. But after I conducted a bit of study and made some adjustments, my face began bright and glowing in just a few weeks. Here is what I did: I consumed a balanced diet including items such as lentils, roti, green vegetables, and brown rice. This assisted heal my body from the inside. I applied a face wash with the appropriate pH level and had black rice water. I chose the Litlextraa riceberrry face wash, and it performed nice for my skin. I formed it a regular practice to drink a minimum of 2 liters of water every day. I engaged in physical activity on a daily basis, this made me sweating and removed impurities from my body.

So, you’re going to want to use products like a good serum with a blend of tranexamic acid 10%, and glycolic acid. Other fantastic ingredients that work extremely well on dark spots are AHA’s & BHA’s, lactic acid, Vitamin C, retinol, kojic acid, azealic acid, and niacinimide. So anything that you see with these ingredients will work very well. I’m using a number of different products right now with a combination of these ingredients to get rid of my melasma/dark spots, and it’s working- especially the products with tranexamic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid and AHA’s. There’s an amazing 7% glycolic toner that I love- and it doesn’t have any alcohol so it doesn’t dry your skin out, it has aloe and hyaluronic acid and a lot of other great stuff. And it’s about 11$ on Amazon. (It very well could be at target) The brand is VA (Vital Affair), Vital Allure Glycolic acid 7%. (It’s a yellowish/green label) Also another great one is Biossance Vit C Dark spot serum. I’ve been using this for about 5 months consistently now and it’s been helping a lot. It took some time but they all do. And it feels wonderful. It’s about 50$ but if you get it on sale and in one of their bundles, it’s way cheaper- like 20$-30$ a bottle. Sometimes cheaper. And they give you a bunch of free, large, travel sizes of all their products almost every time you order. Just sign up for their loyalty program so you’ll get the best discounts. Anyway I’m totally rambling.. Hope this helps you out a bit.. I know I was so lost when I first started looking for stuff like this, and I wish someone would have taken the time to answer me. I know these aren’t at target but you can order them online just as easily:) Cheers, and good luck!✨

I saw this video a few months ago and the SA cleanser changed my skincare game FOR LIFE. I had cystic acne and up to 70 on my face and broke out everyday. Like when I tell you it was bad… it was HORRID. 2 years after Covid but I wore a face mask everywhere because I was ashamed of it and I NEVER looked in the mirror if I could help it and I HATED people seeing my side profile. Until I prayed about it then I found out my skin type was actually dry (I thought it was oily until I moved to the States and realised my skin was had only oily because I lived in a tropical location but on its own and in the US it’s actually dry) and I used the Cerave Renewing SA cleanser (but for dry skin) and the Cerave moisturiser and the ordinary alpha arbutin serum but the serum only for 2 months. Yes! I’m not sure why he recommended that moisturizer. Cetaphil has a basic lotion that’s formulated for the face and body. The moisturizer he showed in the video has shea butter, which can cause breakouts. Also that cerave cleanser is not gentle whatsoever. Too much exfoliating can disrupt the moisture barrier of the skin and if you’re already using Differin, you don’t need an exfoliating or strong cleanser. A good basic cleanser will suffice.

@@chelsea8082 do you recommend replacing the SA cleanser with the cerave foaming facial cleanser?
@chelsea8082
@chelsea8082 2 жыл бұрын
@@wosoyunapapa3892 It honestly depends on what you’re looking for with your skin. I know a lot of people don’t like the foaming cleanser because they said it’s very drying and strips their skin. The SA cleanser has salicylic acid in it, but that one is more for exfoliating and smoothing the skin. If I had to chose between the two though I’d go with the SA cleanser. I personally use the hydrating cream to foam cleanser and I love it.

it seems you guys are allergic to it or something. if it's just sensitivity then you should make sure it's fragrance free, but if it's more of a allergic reaction i think you should maybe try switching your sunscreen type (there are physical(zinc oxide) and chemical(homosalate, oxybenzone, etc) sunscreens). maybe this could be the problem?

Just copped this whole thing. It was 67 bucks but some of the containers were larger. I’ll edit to let you know how it goes. Wish me luck Edit 1: Been 4 weeks. The first 2 I did everything as said. Worked but dried out my skin completely. It was weird just tearing off dead skin that used to be zits. So I had no acne but at the price of a constantly burning face with dead skin. Looked like I got sunburnt. Had to stop so the acne partially came back week 3. I started it again doing the same thing but moisturizing more and not doing it everyday. Also I only put the benzoyl peroxide on the zits themselves. The adapalene I still put all over my face. Keep in mind I have mild acne. Overall it works but listen to your skin. Edit 2: 8/10/24 (8 months later): Been acne free for 2.5 months now just so it took 5.5 months for this to work. I thought I’d let y’all know that. I’m now onto just benzoyl peroxide on the occasional pimples and moisterizer all over my face twice daily and that’s been enough. I also still use a salycilic acid cleanser in the shower. Hope this helps.

Check it out. 🤍 Meanwhile to brighten skin, I use pure Vit C and Alpha Arbutin 2% but the difference isn’t huge and Lactic Acid 10% is good. Thinking of trying out Azelaic Acid next. Hope it works! For acne I use the classic Benzoyl Peroxide 10%. Goood results, but they always only show after a month. Start with 2.5% bc otherwise you’ll feel the face burning. Then increase. Even 5% is as effective as 10%.

There's no way to get rid of pores permanently but from what I've read so far here's some tips: 1. Double cleansing - make sure you're doing it thoroughly like rubbing the oil slowly in a circular motion, don't rub too hard, 3- min cleansing with water-based cleanser. 2. Avoid pore strips as they could cause irritation and larger pores that's harder to remove 3. Use chemical exfoliants

Yes, because both could be irritating. You could try short contact therapy with retinoids (using for 30 minutes then washing off for 1 week, then gradually increasing the time to overnight and more often during the week, see Lab Muffin's video on starting retinoids). You also don't need to use retinoids every day, even 2-3 times a week is enough. You could use SA on the nights you are not using retinoid. This is what I know, I think you should watch another of Doctorly's videos or talk to a derm for better advice.

So you recommend using actives before moisturizer... Do you let the skin dry completely first? If so won't that cause trans epidermal water loss? I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it

I spent a few hours reading research papers on acne treatments, and this video provides research backed treatments. I currently use Adapalene 0.1% gel + a non-comedogenic moisturizer daily, and it's reduced comedones by about 80% on my face, neck, and back. I highly recommend starting with either Adapalene 0.1% gel or Benzoyl Peroxide, or both if your skin can handle the combination. Best of luck on clear skin

hey…i just had a question so if i’m getting benzoyl jel…do i use it like first face wash then this gel and leave it on then moisturizer or just leave it on the gel for the day?
@erikb4407
@erikb4407 2 жыл бұрын
@@cruelsummer2 hey quick disclaimer, I haven't done any research on what order to apply the combination of benzoyl peroxide + adapalene + moisturizer in medical literature, but my best guess is you should apply adapalene, let it dry (it dries quick), then benzoyl peroxide, let it dry, then finish with moisturizer. Order of application likely doesn't significantly change the efficacy, but my gut feeling would be to apply the adapalene and benzoyl peroxide before the moisturizer. I hope this helps! edit: (and we both really should be using sunscreen, but I'm too lazy..)

Perfect timing, thank you for this! Just bought an SA face wash today (La Roche Posay Effaclar) and am nervous to take the plunge after my skin has finally calmed down and accepted tretinoin regularly after a slow 7 months of incorporating it into my routine. You make it sound safe. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Gratitude from Okinawa 🌺.

@@SaiverMC not great, every time I use the LRP Effaclar cleanser, I break out. Tried it a few times a week for a few months thinking it was just part of the purging process but it was always the same so I stopped using it. I'd rather deal with a few blackheads on my nose here and there than the painful pimples it was giving me. Might just need a different SA product, haven't wanted to experiment anymore for now.

@snowella rose thank you for your tips! I never used it every day, tried it just 1x a week for a while then 2x a week for a bit, it just wasn't for me. More recently tried a different SA & Glycolic Acid cleanser that I'm now using 1x or 2x per week and it's working well and not doing what the LRP one was doing to me. It's a shame, it was pricey and now it's just sitting there.
