Now that’s how you repair an engine! I learned at a machine shop, dirty parts are a big mistake. You can’t even see if the part is still usable. Let alone getting chunks in everywhere you don’t want them. Nice to see real mechanics work. And every detail is shown. Along with your informative and sometimes amusing commentary. Thanx for the help that actually...helps!

Bill thank you for posting these vids. You're show and website have always given out an overview of power stroke information and trends while dieseltechron, master tech and some other showed mainly how to videos. I appreciate the value you and the rest offer the community. With master tech and Ron gone, it's nice to see you are still ensuring the community gets the detailed how to videos. Thanks.

13:53 - While I still have a set of those Snap-On Torx sockets, they sometimes don't get deep enough on really tight bolts and start to strip the fastener. The full Torx socket set from Cornwell is a great alternative, these usually go deeper and have less of a chance of stripping the bolt. Comes with regular and tamper proof sockets, as well as an E-Torx set. Cheaper than Snap-On too.

You are a good guy, and smart way to delete those egr coolers without a block off plate and removing the cooler. Keep it looking stock.

17:32 - A Roloc cookie is definitely not suitable for aluminium, but a wire brush wheel I have a hard time understanding how it would be less abrasive. I'd be using a 3M rubber bristle disc myself, it will come clean but not really remove material like a wire brush wheel would.

I have a tip for cleaning parts and stuck bolts. I started using gunk engine cleaner for stuck bolts and nuts. I just spray it on let it soak for 10 mins, and off they come. instead of pb blaster and all the others try gunk you will be surprised.

Thank you for your videos they have been very helpful. Using Archoil and have no siction issues while using it! I had some no starts on my 6.0L. it has 2003/04 round HPOP and air tested through IPR socket. Only place I chould here noise was bubbling through Oil filter housing. does the mean the HPOP is bad? or the O Rings on the tubes are bad. It seemed to provide enough pressure. I'm cleaning the HFCM after watching you vid as I had drain back in top fuel filter housing. Thanks again for your videos.

Great Videos. Can you make a video of what to look for on a oil filter inspection after changing the oil to a 6.0. Thank you for sharing all this knowledge.

Question, The EGR cooler with the welded ends, does it change the tuning or will the engine see a fault code? If no to both, where will I get one?
@jojomorgan8556
@jojomorgan8556 4 жыл бұрын
Some will have a code but most won't and the only thing it changes in tuning is a slightly higher back pressure and hotter fuel burn causing slightly higher EGT (solved with 4" turbo back straight exhaust) and in extremely rare cases can cause already weak rear cylinder exhaust valves to melt... so do the job right (I.e. check health of everything while you're in there don't just parts swap)

Bill, I am 19 years old and am dying to buy a powerstroke. I am currently going to college but I do make about 200 bucks a week from my job. I am very close to being able to afford a truck and I am torn between an obs 7.3 and a super duty 7.3. I don't haul anything but I do mud a decent amount and plan on lifting whatever I buy by a few inches. Ive got about 10 grand to spend. Any help would be stellar, thank you.

Back in the day when I worked at ford stealership I had a lady bring in a Taurus was 18 months old had 81k miles on it her complaint was lack of power and loud engine so I got to looking it over so I fired it up sounded horrible so I pulled the dipstick no oil on it so I add 2 quarts still off the stick did compression test on front 3 cyclinder. All were very low under 30 psi there was no oil stickers in car and had motorcraft filter on it and we had no records of this car other than selling it to her 18 months ago dealer prep was all that was in computer so I went and asked her when was the last time you got the oil changed she looked me straight in the eye said its a new car don't need the oil changed the service writer had to tell her that her new car needed a new motor she went crazy throwing stuff we had to call police to have her removed from the property car sat in my extra bay about 3 days then I got tired pushed it out side ford motor credit Finially got it towed to auction about 3 or 4 months later

Lmao! And people wonder why some shitty mechanics try to take advantage of the women that come into their shops. 99%of the time women don't know anything about cars and the mechanics get away with screwing them over

actually Bill ford has not been ahead in technology. they didnt even have turbos first. cummins in 89 had a turbo and very efficient injection system. that from the factory made 20+mpg. and not to mention suspension on the trucks. in 94 dodge had 4 link and coil springs. ford waited 11 more years before they decided to ditch the SHIT riding leaf springs. theres nothing wrong with a cable driven throttle. it doesnt ever fail like throttle position sensors on drive by wire systems.....

Guess you don't use torque wrenches in your shop. Just get them tight and strip them. Plus the first powerstroke was 94.5 not 93 one would think a powerstroke guy would know that. And you have to be one of the most annoying bosses out there. laughs at his own jokes
