I’m 42 and 8 years ago I woke up and just like that I had a movement disorder. When I walk it’s like walking on ice skates and I fall about 3-5x a day, my hands lost most coordination, and I lost the ability to speak on que. I had to quit my job and go on disability and so my life flipped upside down. I have been struggling for a large part of the 8 years! These videos have helped me immensely!

It's important to meditate and it has to be an every day routine. I have a mix of prayer and meditation that goes something like this... 1. Being thankful for everything I have 2. Wishing health or restoration for the needs of people I know 3. Be aware of various negative situations and how I can prepare my mind to not only overcome but thrive through those situations 4. Dwell on the good that is in me, the desire to help others, to lift people up, be a good influence 5. Understand that death is part of life. It will happen and it's not bad or evil, accept it, embrace it and I will always be ready when it happens.

Isn't it more about accepting how something is? Saying it's how it is supposed to be takes all the responsibility of one's self. So if I'm lazy and just sit around at home doing nothing its okay, because it's supposed to be that way.

@Big Dank Beans I didn't say, that one should fight tooth and nail or to try to change things out of his/her control. I said that the message" Everything in life is how its supposed to be" is wrong or misleading, because it justifies inaction and strips the responsibility from an individual So instead the message of the video should be accept what has happened, take action where you can to better your life and the lives of others and accept/don't worry about things that are out of your control, no matter the outcome.

One of my grandmother’s favorite sayings was “cheer up the worst is yet to come.” I hated it when I was a kid, but now I know she meant that what you’re afraid wasn’t happening right now and probably never would, so enjoy it. The older I get the more I realize this is very true.

My mother pass away from cancer. Day before her death she had surgery. She didn't have fear, she didn't cry. Like she accept her fate no matter what will happen after the surgery, she was afraid to have surgery or any medical intervention before, I think she achieved some virtue to come with internal peace. I don't agree with everything that Stoicism teach, but one I do agree with - Don't worry about things that are not in your control.

This video came to me at a good time I'd discovered late last night my fear of being alone, was deep rooted in the inability to differentiate want from need. I felt as if having a romantic partner was something I needed - like I need to drink water and eat to live I realized; being single, for the time being - and until I find the right person, allows me to be much more self-reliant

This is a prime example of how the Absolute Truth resonates across cultures and different philosophies. 'Amor Fati' (as explained here) is extremely close to the teachings of Karma Yoga, one of the four paths to liberation as described by Hindu philosophy. They both teach that since you have no control over the future, there is no reason to spend a single moment worrying over it. Furthermore, Karma Yoga teaches that instead of developing acceptance or tolerance, surrender to the uncertainty. Do not force yourself to love it because someone says so, simply love it for it is. The only thing we have ownership over is our actions, not the results, and thus it is detrimental to the Self to expect anything in return. Work for the sake of doing work, not for the fruits of the work. Work with love and dedication, but remain indifferent to the results. That is true vairagya (detachment + indifference). Thank you for this wonderful video! I always enjoy listening to what various philosophers around the world have to say, and this channel has helped me enjoy that. Keep up the good work!👌🏻✨

Hey Einzel, just wanted to thank you for your videos. Your doomer to bloomer video inspired me to reach for a change. I'm 23, living abroad in a university that I despise being in everyday and I just finally moved to a dorm in my campus. I was hopeless for a solid two years, constantly being afraid of what would happen if I dropped out, or afraid of what would happen if I stayed. I didnt want to disappoint my parents but I also was afraid that if I stayed this way I would never do what I want and end up hating myself for not making the time for it. Your videos inspired me to first seek order, and so I did. I started first eating healthy, then working out, then meditating then reflecting on my previous acts and finally being clean and organized. I think because of your videos and you introducing me to stoicism, I was able to cope with a lot more than I expected. My dad is sick with what my mom thinks is cancer, I'm living by myself, I rarely see my family now, and there's times where I keep being reminded over my ex. But surprisingly, I've learned to embrace it all. I don't feel sad or depressed at all anymore, I actually feel confident of what I want to do, which is drop out of this school and head back to the states, and maybe even seek out new experiences like the air force or army. Thanks alot Einzel, you helped me in change my perspective for the better.

This couldnt have come at a better time for me. I have been so anxious and impatient about moving to another state, as I live in the city, which I dislike. I love quiet, stillness, nature, and dislike crowds, so living in New York is not ideal for me. Im always seeking nature anywhere that I can, as I feel that it fuels me to my core. Ive been trying to be patient with myself about moving. 1, i have a lot of debt to pay off, and 2, my partner isnt ready to leave as hes been here all of his life. Perhaps one day that dream will happen but for now, I will take life as it comes, as I am still grateful and blessed to have what I have in this moment

I used to practice amor fati since I was a kid, I grew up as a Muslim, and I think a lot of Islamic teachings are inspired by stoicism (since Arabs translated a lot from the Greeks in the beginning of the Islamic civilisation). I took that concept "amor fati" for granted, never gave it much thought, I was just used to it. I moved to another country (different culture), where people are so obsessed on beating themselves for work (to the point where people die of over work and suicidal rates are so high because when people make mistakes they feel unnaturally ashamed), being in that environment did change me, I now suffer from stress an anxiety (which I never or very rarely experienced before). However, I do now realise the value of amor fati, I do now realise that my anxiety isn't caused by my circumstances but simply by the way I think about them. I do now appreciate my bringing-up. Thank you for reminding me!

That part about being afraid of being alone, then exposing ones self to being single for a while - this was my entire life (i have abandonment trauma from childhood) and I was sick of grasping onto strangers to be responsible for my happiness... I was so fed up I decided to write myself off of dating for as long as possible and channel all that energy back into myself. A few things: 1. 110% recommend this. Life-changing. Everything I wanted in someone else, I cultivated in myself :,) 2. I discovered I actually don't like dating unless we are good friends. I'm asexual lol 3. When people can't fulfill an expectation I might have on them, it doesn't bother me like it used to. I'm so much better at accepting it, not personalizing it, and keeping it moving. Stoicism is so deeply personal for me. Thank you for these videos!! I am going to remember to expose myself more to the "negative outcomes" because I do struggle with accepting change and uncertainty, and this is a thing that absolutely changes your life

Your work has value; keep writing books and videos - and most importantly living by your own law and truth. Diversity of ideas and originality is the way towards world peace. We are never alone; even tho it's just so nice to be alone.

Keep this up, man. I joined the Stoic community in the spring of 2018 and haven't looked back. There's been ups and downs and I am not near as Stoic as I should be, but the philosophy has become ingrained within me, and I couldn't be happier.

I just stumbled upon your channel, and ever since doing so, I've at least watched 1-2 of your videos everyday. What I cannot explain though, is that every video brings forth a moment of which my tears cannot do much else but let go. It as if the subconscious is finally being spoken to, and in response is changing to a better me. It has most likely to do with my current point in life, where solitude has replaced companionship, and where I can begin facing what has been so far postponed. Thank you so much for all your work, it is truly helping. Best regards, Daniel from Norway.

Gratitude is at the root of not fearing negative outcome. Keeping life simple and enjoying the basics will keep you happy. Being single is beautiful if not done in fear. Will you do a face reveal someday? Would love to see the face behind the microphone. One day I will release the materialism and embrace many other forms of non material existing. What makes me happy now is feeling gratitude for simple things.
