Matt the big Halibut you caught last year (I think) was about 172lbs, this one that escaped was pretty big, I think 225ish? I understand the bittersweet feeling of releasing a big fish, but it sure feels good to watch a big war wear fish go free and I am proud of you and your Dad I know you didn't release it but you didn't moan and cry about it. Karma will take note and perhaps you will be rewarded. Hey do you have a hobby? Or does this keep you busy? I really enjoy your Dad's commentary by the way. You two make a good team!

Halibut is the best fish for a fish and chip dinner. We had a family in our city that ran a restaurant for 70 years end the owner retired and never sold the business. He took the perfect batter recipe with him never to be used again.I miss those halibut and chip dinners so much.
@kerrypitt97893 ай бұрын
May I ask where you are? In Victoria BC there may still be a Fish and chip shop called Burnside Fish and chips that had a great batter recipe. It later changed to Bradey's fish and chips. The food never changed but the setting was too large. Not sure if it is there anymore. I seriously miss their food!

@@kerrypitt9789 Sarnia,Ontario The owner use to get the fish and cut them up himself. I remember going back to see them and he said he use to get 300 lbs ones but now the biggest he received was 100 lbs. The way he prepared the fish,fries,roles and coleslaw was perfect. If he was still open I would go right now just thinking about it. Do not get me wrong you paid for the meal but if it’s good I do not care what the cost is. The price of the Halibut was very high but that was not his fault.

Fished for lobster for years out of Chatham MA. My over the side gear setup was very much the same with about the same over the side reach. When I fished for bluefin I used the same hauling gear but running 550 lbs nylon so we could just haul them in, harpoon , bleed, then and ice them down. Never had any instability even with an 865 lbs bluefin pulling dead on the starboard beam.
