Been testing the new eternal sleep status effect on many different enemies and bosses this is the closest I've gotten to a viable build, Definitely can be min maxed further

Eternal Sleep Functions- 1. Main difference from Normal sleep is that Common enemies once eternally slept will not wake up no matter what, unlike sleep where if you hit them once they wake up. 2. With Elite Enemies both sleep and eternal sleep work the same i.e. it doesn't they get stunned for a millisecond before shaking it off. You have to time the Theolliar's Needle skill within that small time frame to get the burst damage. 3. Godskins and Man Serpents are very easy to sleep. With eternal sleep the Godskins start their wake up animation after 3-4 hits with my testing and with regular sleep they take at most 2 hits before beginning the wake up animation. 4. The human Rememberence bosses if slept will have the same animation as the elite enemies(Malenia, Godfrey etc. NOT RADAGON) but only on the first phase and their resistances are VERY high regardless. 5. Rykard on the first phase has the Head shaking animation but for some reason the Sleep talisman doesn't proc nor does the weapon skill burst damage during that time. 6. In PVP both sleeps share the same status bar and has the same effect of stunning you for a little bit, but eternal sleep drains your fp more than regular sleep 7. Even though the ripple cresent halberd and axe got nerfed they'll still be the best to apply sleep grease to for sleep buildup. A new dlc spear called The Bloodfiend's spear also has an Innate arcane scaling which is much inferior to the S scaling of the Ripple weapons but this spear's AOW can be changed and it has passive bleed 8.Both Swords of Trina are basically the exact same Except obviously the status effects, Velvet just gets slightly better int scalings while Normal one gets slightly better Str and Dex scaling

How does Velvet St Trina Sword and OG St Trina Sword compare? Is there any actual reason to pick one over the other? Ngl, I'm a little annoyed that it seems like they just made St Trina Sword 2.0 instead of literally any other weapon type. lol

Eternal Sleep is just as Useless/Useful as normal sleep but Because of Theolliar's Needle and the Talisman, it's somewhat good even if doesn't sleep enemies

PvP wise I been testing eternal sleep grease and haven’t found a viable weapon to proc it faster or more reliable given the ripple weapons got nerfed.

@@aTypicalMushroom same here What does work tho are well timed Pot throws. In the arena the consumables you use don't get spent outside so that's a plus. It's finnicky for sure but the needle Weapon is pretty solid I have to say, since it does only Pierce damage and a special variant of impaling thrust

The wiki says you also get extra damage from the AoW if the enemy is poisoned. Have you tested this?

@@olecorby6062 No it doesn't, I tested it just now since you mentioned it, on the Omen in the sewers with Deadly poison, normal Poison and Rot, doesn't work. Idk where the wiki got that info from. The weapon says it's only the sleep effects

@@Nek-re Shame. That would have given it a bit more utility against enemies that are resistant to sleep. Pretty disappointing actually, I love sleep so much but it just seems so useless. Thanks for testing it regardless

Okay so here's a little advice for the Velvet St Trina sword: You actually want to use a second weapon with it since the ashes of war put the special buff on BOTH of them at the same time. So u can basicly inflict eternal sleeps two times faster if your second weapon is from the same weapon type and an enchantable one of course, using one with similar scaling is usally your go too. (Like the basic St Trina Sword for example)

It works very well on Bears too. The 2 DLC bear bosses are very prone to sleep. I think it's just a nod to how bears and snake Hibernate. Also Messmer cannot be slept at all by my testing

Awesome, thanks for sharing! I'm only a few hours into the DLC but I'm so excited to NG+ with all the new stuff haha. It's what I always enjoy in the Souls games. I feel like now you can truly make like a full poison or sleep build and stuff like that as long as you don't care about min/max lol.

You're sort of right but It won't be a Sleep build per se. Just an Arcane Dex build, sleep will just be a novelty once in while like "Whoa it procced" cause you will kill normal enemies before they sleep😂

I wish besides being slightly longer than base game St. Trina sword and the sleep being the same in PvP(it could of acted like deadly poison to base poison--not talking about scarlet rot), and gave like a second longer of stun with eternal sleep or something. Also the AoW could of been different while also coating it in that sweet velvet sleep infusion so it's not the same as the base St. Trina sword. A different moveset would of been nice too, it could of been a light greatsword if not slightly small for one? I'm unsure of the full size atm. One of the few things that sadly just got shafted over some other weapons and or such. Which is kind of sad since St. Trina became a bigger presence in the DLC.

I like that since this sleep doesn't immediately break after the first hit it opens up new strategies for killing them aside form just massive single hit attacks. For example you could use firss deadly sin/immolation with frost weapons to rapid proc frostbite over and over.

No, FDS constantly ticks fire damage. If you build up frostbite, it'll pop for a chunk of damage and the following tick of FDS will reset their frost meter. You can keep swinging with a frost weapon or throwing frost pots, and they'll be effective. That was never an issue that needed patching, as it's been that way since DS3.

Thanks for showing us this. The moment I got Thiollier’s Needle and tested it on like normal grunts I immediately wondered “would it put Godskins to sleep for the entire duration of the fight?” Regardless, the Duo can still be trivialized with this weapon, so I’m glad.

Velvet has slightly better scalings you get 20-30 AR over the normal one if I remember correctly and it is very slightly longer

Eternal sleep keeps the enemy sleeping for 4 seconds regardless of if they take damage or not, after that duration it turns into regular sleep and functions as such

Wanna see higher? Lightning perfume bottle + Rolling Sparks ash of war. Lightning + Posture tear. Warrior Shard talisman + Perfume talisman + optional the talisman to reduce aow cost. Pump Dex+Faith. Run to boss, unlock & aim at ground use AoW. It does 7-9k damage at least with my build. The Lord boss in the Abyssal woods area the manor guy. I did 41K damage off his first move it was like ~90% of his HP. Posture broke him in 2 casts. Is very broken. It works on every boss without heavy Lightning resists. So the DRAGON DLC BOSS you know the one if you played it & ancient dragons it will do like 1-2k to. I'm not abusing it cause it is too broken lol. And yes to test it works just as well on the final boss. I purposefully died second phase so I can fight him legit.

If the enemy is slept, the skill will deal percentage based burst damage like Bleed as shown in the video. I'll demonstrate that more on Dragons and other high hp enemies in future videos

Yes, but The unique sleep weapons don't have arcane scaling for some reason. So we use grease with Arcane scaling weapons . The only options currently are The Albanauric Halberd and Axe and a new DLC weapon called Bloodfiend 's spear

@@LexPerfecta I'm still testing it out. I'd recommend Theolliar's Needle or Both the St. Trina's sword Powerstancing. If you want to use The Bloodfiend Spear no matter what you have to keep it at Standard infusion unfortunately to keep the maximum Arcane scaling while also being Greasable. I'd recommend a multihit AOW like repeating thrusts or blood tax. But Albanauric Halberd will always be better for greases

For those weapons yes I don't have the right stats, but Sleep, the sts effect scales with Arcane it's been known forever

@@Nek-rearcane only scales status effects of the weapon itself has innate arcane. In other words since that weapon doesn’t have arcane scaling. Adding arcane points won’t increase the status buildup on the weapon. And since you can’t change it to occult ether, you’re stuck with status buildup it came with.
