That's a cool idea, but not what they were going for, I'm pretty sure. If you look closely at the flowers in the red region, they're not just red recolors of the blue flowers, they're spider lilies, a flower associated with horror and used as a symbol for death and mourning. Considering the area, I think that's more the intent.

They're a specific flower species associated with buddhist funerary practices. They're planted around gravesites to pay tribute to the dead. The obvious conclusion from that information is still that they represent love for the deceased. The whole Putrecense/Trina situation right nearby only reinforces that.

On the wing of the dragon, you can find a ‘dragon communion harpoon’, the only other way to get this is from crafting from ‘igon’s cookbook[1]’ Added to that, Igon has access to the ‘greyolls roar’ incantation. whilst we are the ones who kill greyoll, that tells me he obtained it from defeating a similarly large dragon Not only that but the description of the dragon hunters great katana says that the Ancient dragon man was once an ‘arbiter’ of who could face Bayle. Meaning that someone had to prove themselves worthy of facing bayle before fighting him. Just a theory, but I think our boy Igon was the one who took out this Super-drake. If true it only further cements his legendary status as Bayle-hating gigachad

I think my favorite part of this new super dragon is that, as far as i can tell, there is literally no lore on it. Not even a name! Gransax almost leveled a city and left behind a legendary weapon. Greyoll is the mother of all drakes. Placidusax is the Elden Lord of a bygone era. Bayle is a bastard and fuck his lazer beam forever. Then there's dead superdrake, who is definitely just... there, I guess.

There is environmental lore on it. We can see how he died. He died from a titanic harpoon being lodged into the back of its head. The harpoon bears the appearance of jagged stone, and has a smooth groove running down its middle, as if it was meant for a contraption rather than a giant hand. The nature of the giant harpoon, the texture of it, is reminiscent of something you'd see in Farum Azula, so a wild guess would be that the giant dragon was killed by a weapon made and possibly launched from Farum Azula.

also interesting is we now have a defined difference between drakes, and their relation to arcane, and ancient dragons, who draw their power from faith. Also curious if all those dragon corpses are from infighting among the drakes, or from a combined assault against the traitor to plaucidusax. either way, fun lore.

This. I have been waiting since week 1 of ER to understand why there are drakes and dragons and how the hell they got so different. Learning about the 2 lineages was awesome. Also makes me curious about how the drakes tend to absorb elements that they eat/surround themeselves with - Ekzykes, Smarag, Adula and Borealis all gain new breath attacks and essentially bodily infusions of their new environment, but Ancient Dragons only wield lightning. Fortissax clearly shows some capability to adapt to new threats, though. I think the corpses being a mix suggest a combined assault from the Ancient Dragons, being rebuffed by the Jagged Peak Drakes, who likely hold some loyalty to Bayle. It's possible that when the assault failed, the Drakes then turned on each other, perhaps?

I assumed all the corpses are from that one ancient dragon before you fight bayle. Cos that rare gravel stone you get from the corpses says it comes from an ancient dragon preying on drakes. Or it's Bayle killing them cos not sure if he counts as an ancient dragon or not really even though he is the oldest drake

Left unmentioned was the GIANT SWORD sticking out of its neck. If you walk up the sword, you can see that it has a bluish-green verdigris (probably bronze), but it's been fully encased in stone, almost like an enormous version of the stone cased sword. I know that you've extrapolated the Caelid/Mountaintop Titans; I'm curious if that sword would fit their hand?

It’s believed that that dragons name is Charo. There’s an area behind that dragon obviously named “Charos Hidden Grave”, could be a reference to which the dragon now rests and guards entry. The back of the dragon is impaled by which seems to be a large spike or a harpoon, something you can read the description of the one you get nearby! Pretty interesting

Hell yeah This dragon takes up a non-negligable amount of the entire map, really nuts I'm most looking forward to some good camera angles on the entire shadow lands map, to get a sense of the immense verticality. The abyssal woods, how tall vs wide the map is, etc. Seeing this video just got me excited to see how the dragon looks in comparison to the whole island Also please please please, if you can spare the time, can you figure out how deep the abyssal woods is below sea level? What's crazier than the huge dragon is the giant arrow stuck in it. According to the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword, that arrow was the weapon of the "old gods," at least one of whom was clearly on Placidusax's side in the conflict between the drakes and ancient dragons.

I'd assume the lore accurate size of Bayle and Placidusax is closer to Granssax and "Charo", Fromsoft made them smaller for gameplay reasons.

I was actually dissapointed when I first saw bayle cos they really built him up to be this ultimate black dragon and I was getting heavy balerion and the one form silmarillion vibes. But he is a cool dragon in the end none the less

@@joesheridan9451 I think there are a lot of positives there in terms of mechanics. I haaaated Midir. It was annoying as hell waiting for him to stop lumbering around so I could hit him in the head once before he started doing it again. Bayle meanwhile is quite aggressive and doesn't spend half the fight running away from you. But that does make him kinda easy in the end. I one shot him on my second playthrough of the DLC and I wasn't even trying. Maybe it's just inevitable that dragons and other large monsters are always going to be a weak point due to From's combat system?

Not to forget, the dragon was killed by bayle, And another detail I think needs mentioning is the giant stone pillar sticking out of the giant-drake. 1. Did bayle impale the drake over the pillar? 2. Did bayle pick up the pillar and "rules of nature" it at the drake? Plus, the pillar isn't some sort of dragon stone, it's got details on it

i don't think Bayle killed that dragon - there is no lore or item or dialogue to say who the dragon was or who killed it - but the stone thing is like a huge lance piercing it. So i'm thinking it wasn't Bayle.

Look at the rock formation which this new unnamed dragon rests on. The entire rock formation is dragon shaped, and since ancient dragons are made of stone... I think there might be a dragon 10 times bigger laying right underneath this one. Just not as an ingame single model.
