Here's my 'flu shot' and I've used it successfully for 30 years - works every time: At the first sign of a cold, sniffle, itchy throat or eyes, take you one clove of fresh garlic about the size of your thumbnail and peel it. Next, cut it in half, then each half piece in half, making 4 chunks. Morning, mid morning, mid afternoon and evening, MINCE one of the garlic clove quarters and let if air dry a few minutes - until you can smell it from across the room. Scoop all the little minced pieces into a spoon, shove it into the back of your mouth and chase it with a drink of water. Do this three days in a row. Don't stop midway, even though you may feel great again. Take it the FULL THREE DAYS. THAT'S IT!

I save my strained ingredients by putting them on a flat cookie sheet, freezing them, and putting them in a container. I use this in a tea infuser. A small amount makes a dark tea. 🙂

Heidi, I made a tincture out of the elderberries last year, and added ginger, echinacea leaves, flowers and root to my vodka and let it sit for 6 weeks. I also made a mullein flower tincture as well. We also make garlic honey, Lemon balm tincture, to keep on hand. Thank you for more good information and like you always say! Make sure you do your own research on the herbs you are using.

Did you peel the ginger? I made a tincture a couple years ago for the first time, but cannot for the life of me find that recipe. I have always been someone that needs a recipe to be sure I 'have it right', but I am getting better at 'winging it', if I am guided as to what ingredients go well together and I like the sound of what you used. Thanks for sharing.

I blend up a peeled grapefruit, peeled lemon and 3 cloves of garlic in the blender and drink it. If my sinuses are congested, then I add some cayenne pepper in the blender too. Chase it a glass of water if needed. It might not taste great but it works. I want to make some elderberry syrup as a preventative.

Most AFFORDABLE ORGANIC DRIED ELDERBERRIES I found are from Konexcel / Pristine Nutri available on Amazon. They come in 2 pounds bag. The price per pound is at least 30% below compared to all other brands. Elderberries have long shelf as they are dried so buying 2 pounds and saving money makes more sense. Thanks for the great simple recipe.

New subscriber Ginger root ( 3 slices) Fresh garlic ( 2 cloves cut them in half) Fresh lemon juice (1 lemon cut in half) Put the Ginger root, garlic and lemon juice in a pot of water just enough water to make couple cups for the average tea or coffee cup coffee. Boil the all the ingredients you will know when it ready 🙂 . Put strainer over your cup or if you want the garlic Ginger root slices in your cup it's completely up to you. And if you you want to add raw honey it's completely up to you But my best advice is to stay home when you drink this.

I love using fire cider and elderberry just about anything. But, that's because I can easily get the supplies for my fire cider rather cheaply when I notice that I'm going to need to make a new batch. I've always stuck with elderberry. And the only other thing that I try to keep on hand for these reasons is Golden Seal Root, which I take dry in capsule form

Whenever I get a sore throat (which is rarely) I make a honey, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice hot drink. I drink two or three cups a day depending on how bad my throat feels. Within a few days it's better. I also down chopped raw garlic once or twice a day when sick and when I've been around others that might be. I chop it let it sit for 15 minutes then scoop some up in a spoon and toss it back with a water chaser. :)

My go to is my ginger and honey and my garlic and honey ferments. One year I got such a bad cold and it wouldn’t go away for anything so I took two cloves of garlic one on either side of my mouth and sucked on them and chewed on them for like an hour and the next day I was completely 100%!!! I absolutely love garlic though and add double or triple to all my recipes the same goes for onions!

I hear you, sister! Garlic is just the best. I’ve loved it all of my 70 years! My mama would put it in all of her greens. Back in those days we didn’t have a garlic press. We would chop it up by leave with a knife and end it would go into the pots. I loved to scoop out the garlic and the vegetable juices at the bottom of the pot, spoon that over a piece of cornbread and… Oh, so delicious! My mama has long since passed, but garlic always reminds me of her! Be blessed!

I'm not sure you cover nasturtiums in this video, I just wanted to post where it would be seen by others. After the first Rain Country video I saw, one that covers nasturtiums and about a friend of yours that eats a leaf every hour when he feels something coming on, I somewhat binge watched some others while working on processing my garden. My kids just started back to school two weeks ago. We all know what happens.. my youngest was the first to come down with "it", then my older son, only much worse. I started him on the leaves but he had a hard time with the taste and in 4 days time, 2 actual leaves down, he's better except for some final drainage. My husband already suffers from asthma and copd, so everything he gets turns quickly to bronchitis and then pneumonia. Well the night before last he felt it coming on and I had my handy dandy jar of nasturtium leaves. All yesterday, every time he came into the house I gave him another leaf. Last night he was just exhausted, frustrated from not being able to fully take a breath and I believe he was feverish but he was tired of me hovering so I didn't get a temp. This morning... ITS GONE! The tight chest, the rattle of the congestion. I will add also, we've used mullein for quite a while now also. He mainly smokes it because he can't handle the tea, but in his case I think smoking it worked better for him. Mullein and nasturtiums kicked "it" overnight. It's all gone except for the need to blow his nose. Usually it takes a round of antibiotics, breathing treatments, steroids, inhalers and at least a week in bed.. He's amazed, I'm amazed, God is SO Good!! Thank you Heidi! Your videos have helped me so much, I just wanted to send some love and blessings your way and tell you again that you are so appreciated! My mom has already messaged me telling me she's feeling it, My dad has been fighting stage 4 cancer for 3 years now so his immune system is trashed. My nasturtium leaves will be traveling today, and when I get back I'll be planting more to attempt to over-winter them in the house.❤ Bless. You. Every. Day!!

Yep, Nasturtium is great and I try to eat a couple of leaves or seeds daily while they are growing fresh. This video is more about the syrup. I save my dried nasturtium leaves for using in my anitbiotic though. However, most herbs that are a good antibiotic are also a good antiviral such as thyme, oregano, calendula, and more.

I agree~~switching herbs and nutritious foods up is important! I like tinctures of calendula, oregano, chamomile, echinacea, and/or elderberry for antivirals. I also like raw garlic, especially if feeling ill. You can chop it up and add to warm foods to warm it, but not cook it. (Baked potato, soup, chili, etc.) I've made fire cider a couple of times, but it was wasted as none of my family could stomach it, it tasted so vile. I can't see me making it again as there are other herbals we will happily consume. I am trying to stock my herbal tea cabinet with various blends as preventatives and as warm, relaxing winter drinks. God bless!

We have been drinking calendula tea for the past couple of days. First night combined with holy basil and thyme, last night just calendula. Still trying to decide how I want to mix it for tonight, I am thinking Calendula and holy basil without the thyme. I have a lot dried up so now I am using the fresh flowers in various ways.

To add vitamin C, I add some pine needles after I finish boiling. I don’t want to kill the vitamin c. But be sure to do research if you do this so you don’t use the toxic pine needles. Eastern Pine is great if you have it in your area.

If you mean those Infinity jars, I think I hid that video because those things were just too expensive and I felt bad encouraging people to invest in something like that when they could either buy the Ball amber jars for much less or just cover their jars with paint, fabric, or simply store in a box or cabinet. That was one of the few times I took up an offer to do a review for a product in exchange for that product for free. The other one I did was on the hoselink, which THAT I do believe is worth the expense when one figures in all the cost of the parts and pieces to put one together

I make a couple big batches a couple times a year. Usually about 2 quarts finished. I am wondering about adding mullein? What do you think about that? I add rum just about half a cup to help with preservation. I set some aside w/o alcohol for the children. I do add whole organic oranges and lemons too. This last batch was the first time I added astralagus and am also considering ashwaganda. I supply about 4 households.

If you are using raw honey, there is no need to add the rum. As noted later in the video about the 4 year old syrup we had just finished. Mullein is good for helping with respiratory infection, so yes, this could be a good option if you have it.
