I have 3 electric chainsaws, but I don't have the battery chainsaw yet.
I decided to convert my working electric chainsaw to battery chainsaw. It takes time, commitment and effort to get this done. As a result, I can use this chainsaw for working outside, but there are some things that need to be improve. I'm really enjoy this project and I learn something new. Especially I could share my experience with all of you through this video.
36V 9Ah Battery Pack Information
- BMS 10S50A
- 30 cells of 18650 LG 3000mAh 20A
- Plastic box
- DC voltmeter 8-100V lithium
- Three-hole plug tricycle battery power supply
I hope you find this video useful and enjoy!
I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I'm sorry for the mistake if I did this video !!!
** I still keep some parts, I want to help the world environment **
Thank you very much for your likes, comments and subscribe!

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

As a strict follower I can suggest that use or build a foot pedal switch for spot welding just for convenience and you could use a 3d printer for battery housing to integration on the other hand great work as usual keep going :)

I love the works, but I totally agree, never ever, ever use AC household connectors for anything DC. There is always a way to get some weird, awkward, exotic and yet thick enough connectors cheaply to prevent serious danger to all beings and their posessions in its surrounding. I do not know what happens when 110v or 230v AC is directly wired to a 10S Li Ion BMS with 60A of Li Ion batteries in parallel, but sweet Lord, that cannot be good.

@@oliverer3 I was afraid so. I have the impression that the ball bearings shown were specifically obtaines for this project, might as well have bought and presented a set of worldwide available XT30's. Which would have been a great chance to add to the viewers knowledge as I learned about these not expensive DC specific higher current capable yellow connectors just yet from another comment made on this video.
@HansOvervoorde
@HansOvervoorde 3 жыл бұрын
@@wahyutriwibowo1803 Your suggestions are excellent in many ways. I'd prefer the XT type over MC solar type. Both are available worldwide. Not very expensive. And specifically made to handle DC at higher current. XT30 with a max of 30 Amps would be enough for this project at a slightly lower price than XT60. The typical yellow color of XT's shows that they deviate. Wiring can simple be soldered. Any cable will do as long as the wires are thick enough to handle the current. Tables can easily be Googled that show what AWG value or mm2 value is the least that handles the amount of current at work. MC4's handle up to 20 Amps, which is also enough for this project. MC4's are the safest option in terms of being not even closely compatible to any household plug anywhere in the world. But MC's can only be fitted on specific, purpose made wires that cost some and these wires may not be flexible enough for this purpose. Next to that, fitting a MC4 on a wire should only be done using specialized tools. And fitting must be done flawlessly, perfectly, in order to prevent any chance of a short circuit sooner or later that would lead to the great danger of explosion and nonstoppable Li Ion fire at very high temperarure. In far most cases it's a badly fitted plug (by a 'pro') that causes fire with solar panels, not the panels.

I think I'm going to get a small version of that battery spot welding device because I currently just link cells (NiMH) together with office staples and I have to dremel the ends of the cells and the staple links or they won't stick. Maybe I'll get a mini battery spot welder and just use metal strips (order on Amazon) and make my battery builds look better like commercially bought packs. I still have to hot glue them together though because I just use off the shelf NiMH cells so my packs say "Rayovac" or "Duracell" on them but they work. I've made some for my RC cars and just made one for a sweeper.

No centrifugal clutch and no chain brake! That's dangerous! Edit: Chain could also be tightened.

Believe, that's more than good enough for a South East Asian country. Most probably 'Nam or something.

Wym no centrifugal clutch? Of course not, it's an electric chainsaw. And of course there is no chain brake, this is a cheap Chinese chainsaw. Those never have any safety features.

Interesting project. 30x 18650 batteries to power the thing? The battery pack would cost at least the same amount as the saw! I can see why you can only get small battery powered chainsaws. Good learning exercise tho'. Keep posting them videos!

Very cool project. How is the battery charge holding up for your typical work before it needs recharging? Why weren't the wires soldered to the commutator? Won't they end up oxidizing resulting in bad contacts?

I like that now videos are about winding. It's so informative for me. Why the video is so fast? I'm not sure but i think there was some kind of acceleration. Did anyone see something like this in that video?
