This is the machine that made 3d printing fun again! I hadn't done much printing over the last year because the cleaning and curing process was such a pain in the butt and I always seemed to miss spots of resin or puddles of alcohol in the corners. On a whim I bought the Mercury Plus on sale (thanks Bezos) and obviously had to try it out... holy crap! I wash with IPA for 4 minutes, remove the supports and then wash again for 3-4 minutes and models come out sparkling, a couple minutes of curing from different angles as per the instruction manual and I am a happy printer again.

I made a similar setup using a 30 dollar magnetic stirrer and some mainstays containers from Walmart. When it comes to the mean green tackiness feeling, I found putting it in another container with water after the initial wash got it off very cleanly and after curing it was very smooth.

As someone new to resin printing, how do you dispose of your cleaning liquid? Do you change out the cleaning fluid with each print? Do you use 95% isopropyl alcohol? Considering a Mars 2 pro/Murcury plus bundle. Looking on amazon they won't ship the ini carbon filters here to California (Damn their clean air laws). Any alternative that are legal in California? I know lots of questions.

Uncle Jessy, would you say you like this better than a ultrasonic cleaner? I was looking at getting a ultrasonic soon. I have a mars and soon getting a Saturn when that goes up. I was planning on getting a ultrasonic that would fit the Saturn prints. I kind of want to just buy one size cleaning machine so im not stuck with a smaller size unit if i upgrade. Im also trying to use only water washable resin going forward. What are your thoughts?

Great review! Resin disposal question: Have you tried using the curing function on the dirty, resin-filled water (i.e. put the bucket of water in and turning on the curing lights) the as a way of curing the resin in the water for easier disposal?
@Abedeuss
@Abedeuss Жыл бұрын
As someone who tried to put the bucket outside to cure with sunlight... please don't. The bucket will get resin on the walls, the spinning part inside and it's a mess to clean it. Fairly sure if the water was more saturated, it could've damaged the spinning part. Better to put the dirty water into a separate container, leave out in the sun or if the container fits, put it into the machine and hit UVs.

@hed420

Does the Anycubic Photon bed attach to this bracket? Does it also fit down into the container? You can attach the Photon's bed in the Anycubic Wash and Cure but it only fits towards the top of the container because of it's tapered shape so you have to fill it to the top with ipa in order to cover the bed. Would be nice if you could put the bed half way down the container and not have to use so much ipa.
@brightnovastar

hed420 the photon wont attach. I need to design an adapter print it. But I use the basket for my photon prints.

@@brightnovastar Thanks for the info. Does the bed fit half way down into the container?
@brightnovastar
@brightnovastar 4 жыл бұрын
hed420 the bed on the Elegoo fits on the bracket and can travel up and down... so you won’t need a full container of alcohol. The basket fits very low into the container... and if there was an adapter I’m thinking the build plate of the photon could also fit in multiple positions. And I think your asking if you can drop the entire build plate in he basket... yes that works too.... with no issue.

@UncleJessy
@UncleJessy 4 жыл бұрын
Nope, I reuse it for a good long while. Not really sure on specifics on length as it might depend on how many prints you’re cleaning but typically I might go 2-3 months before changing. Simple green will probably work well with something like this since the machine really help agitate the liquid while cleaning

How does the LCD work ? obviously this is a refit of the anycubic wash and cure and the thing that annoyed me about that machine is not being able to set the duration of things (wash or cure) Also, I think the lid has a sensor on the back of the machine or something because on the anycubic if you hold the lid over it low down it will work even if its not resting on the base... and there are obviously no magnets in the cover.

We have a Anycubic original (obviously Elegoo is a clone ;-) ) ...but I have to say that I love the timer on Elegoo's box. Anycubic is without! Though you can set three different preset times but a countdown timer is a good addition on Elegoo. Your review Jessy is quite sloppy. You could at least say that the timer goes from 0-15min and that they use a double wavelength UV LEDs (385 and 405). Bottom line, the Elegoo is better!!!!!

You can reuse it and it's why the container is sealable. Clearly to maximise your efficiency let your models drain for a bit. A good idea is a 2 step wash IMO. A quick dip in a a pre wash tub then into the wash station for a final clean. When you final wash alcohol gets too dirty is becomes your pre wash tub....

Depends on how your curing them (sunlight, 405nm UV light) the type of resin and if you built or bought a curing station. Sunlight takes pretty much all day, the UV lamp can cure models in under 30 minutes and if you have a station that rotates the model and reflects UV all around the model, you can cure models in like 2-5 minutes
