Elegoo Neptune 4 (INSANELY FAST SPEEDS) - Setup, Testing, Honest Review

Hey everyone! I’m really liking this newest Neptune 4 pro. It is much faster than there predecessors while still having the same quality prints. The only downside is kinda the loud fans. While it’s not really that big of a deal, keep in mind that it does make some noise if you run it at high speeds. I hope you all enjoy and have a great weekend! See you next time 👍🏻

You can turn the speed down on the large fans, it is probably overkill for most prints.

Does it have a silent mode or something similar so the prints can be slower but more silent? I am considering buying a 3d printer but i live in a smallish room a loud fans would drive me crazy

You can turn the fans off with the switch on top and then it will be quiet. You can also make changes in Cura if you are running it slower and don’t need the fans at high speed.

This printer is the Neptune 4, not the Pro version!

Several issues but one was already pointed out to you which was this is not the pro version. The other was when you lowered the speed of the print profile to 60mm/sec did you also lower the acceleration to something closer to what a slower machine does ? Slower printers like the Ender 3 plus only have 500mm/sec acceleration, where as the Neptune 4 has at least 2500 to 3000 . If you don't lower that to a much lower rate you will still print faster than most slow printers even if you have lowered the print speed. The difference should have been much higher than a few hrs ; so the acceleration was probably not lowered ! To give you an example my old Aquila printing at 50mm/sec was goin to take 23 plus hrs to print a decorative pot. The Aquila has much lower acceleration if any compared to my Ender 3 plus which has 500mm/sec acceleration. I sliced the same pot for my Ender 3 Plus at same print speed of 50mm/sec but with the higher acceleration the Ender 3 plus would print the pot in 17hrs not over 23 . Acceleration can make a big difference! Just some thoughts when comparing speeds and or machines .

The filament sensor has to be wobbly as it moves with the filament. If it was rigid it would pull and limit extrusion.

I'd love to have a 300 mm cube build volume version of the Neptune 4 Pro, with the steel motion control components and segmented print bed to avoid wasting energy to heat my office in the summer when printing smaller parts. While Elegoo is at it, how about WiFi to make it much easier to interface to Klipper via Fluidd, and replace the ribbon cable to the print head with a 4 wire CANbus continuous flex cable. Nags such as these aside, this new breed of fast and precise Klipper bed slingers offer great value. I thought I wanted an enclosed printer for ABS but now I think I'll convert my ABS parts to PETG so I can use a less expensive and easier to maintain open architecture bed slinger.

The new models of this come with a different clip for the wires. Funny thing is that every single assembly video (even the official ones) and all of the review videos has this clip, which is also the one shown in the manual. I had to guess how to put the one that came with mine on. I think it is installed correctly, lol. That filament sensor secures down just fine. There is a built in hinge in the mount and it has to move freely like that or it will bend and twist the filament if it didn't. I love everything about the printer so far, but I will agree that the fans are excessively loud. Even with the speeds adjusted and the extra bank of 4 fans turned off, just the hot end fan alone is considerably louder than any other printer I have owned. Cannot beat the price, print quality, and speed of the Neptune in this class of printer though.

I love it! Just put it at 500 mm just to see what happens lol.. I'm new to 3d printing and I got this on pre order as my first printer..right now I'm borrowing an ender 3 to learn basics on...what kind of nozzles does it use? I wanted to get some hardened ones if possible

@3dmrg I talked to Micro Swiss..and they said they may have 2 nozzles that work for the neptune 4 pro..and if they don't work they will be making ones so people can upgrade

I would like to see when higher prints are made with this Maschine. Due to its moving bed how the layers will come out with higher speeds? I'm printing wings for rc planes and this parts are more in hight but small in width. Have you done so yet?

More accurate printers are usually ones where the print bed doesn't move back and forth. Like the Bamboo Labs x 1 carbon or a Delta Printer ( FL Sun v400) However they are not cheap. I am buying a v400 and it will cost over $1200 Australian . However I like the fact it prints at 400mm/sec with 8000mm squared acceleration. I also own a Anycubic kobra 2 and an Ender 3 Plus . Out of those 2 I am more impressed with the Kobra 2 as it can print the same print I sliced for both machines in less than half the time . Decorative pot on Ender 3 Plus printed in just over 12 hrs Same print on Kobra 2 , 3 hrs 39 mins . That's saving time.

Thinking of getting a 4 after running a larger volume sovol sv03 for fixed-wing and fpv for the last two years. Even with 400mm in height to work with I never go over 250mm at anything faster than 60mms and rarely have printed a part more than 200mm in height. Probably getting a 4 anyway just because it's time for a new printer and Klipper for under $300...

Why did they provide 300degC hot end if they don't give an enclosure?

The nozzle will reach 300 C because it's a fast printer and needs a 50-60 watt hot end to be able to melt enough plastic to support the extrusion rate needed to print that quickly. In practice, a 300 C nozzle is more useful for an enclosed build volume for printing nylon or other high temperature plastic that tends to warp if there's too much air flow and part cooling.

500mm/s would require 37.70 mm³/s of Volumetric Flow Rate. It's embarrassing that this guy keeps repeating 500mm/s all the time :/

I'm not sure what you consider fast and what you consider good print quality but this demonstrates neither.
