You ever see an 84 year old elephant before? World record is 86, in captivity. This elephant isn't going to look like what you expect due to age. If she was heavier it is possible she wouldn't be able to stand up. Had she been a wild animal shed likely have been dead 40 years ago. The only reason she's still alive is humans kept her alive.

Yes, elephants have ribs ... that's prolly dermis of this pachyderm as she ages. Granny looks good, unsure weight (edit ES did indicate that 2534 kg) though to me still looks svelte, strong, & healthy.

This really made me tear up. Oh, the things we humans do to Nature and Nature's creatures in order to "entertain" ourselves. They are all old, weak, sick and disabled, but they have to carry iron chairs weighing dozens of kilograms to be ridden by tourists. I don't have the money for tourism anyway, but if I did you can be sure that I wouldn't go on any elephant-riding events.

The way she was putting her trunk in the air to feel the wind on the truck ride is beyond adorable. She's like a granny getting to go on her first motorcycle ride and she's loving it. Living conditions can be hard in many countries, for workings people and their working animals; people in their eighties with no families or social security nets end up stoop-backed and doing hard labor till they literally drop dead from exhaustion. I'm glad someone finally stepped in to give her a retirement befitting an old woman with so much spirit. She knows these are good people and she's come to a good place.

While she is thin from old age her owner must have loved and cared for her to get her to 87 years old! I am happy she is free finally. For 87 her feet and nails look pretty good. Her back bones look good too. Her legs are straight and joints look pretty good too. Wow I am amazed how good she looks. Thank you for taking her into rescue. Keep the groceries coming 🙂

Dearest Somboon ❤ It breaks my heart that this very elderly lady has cruelly been denied her birthright all her life. 87 years! 😢 Nothing will ever make this right but, as she approaches her transition to "home", I am appreciative that she will leave surrounded by love and kindness. I know and understand that many people dont hold to my beliefs but I am truly convinced that Elephants, like humans, return to spirit when their time here is over.
