I've listened to rock, alternative and pop punk for many years, but could never quite get into metal. It always felt too angry to me and I couldn't really comprehend the emotion behind it all or the artistry behind it. Over the past few years though (pretty much since the lockdowns started and I was left alone with my thoughts and feelings for a bit), my regular old music didn't really do what it used to do for me. I oscillated constantly between total numbness and extreme anger at the world and life in general. I never felt joy anymore. It reached a fever pitch after I lost 3 family members within the span of 6 months. At that point, I wanted nothing more than to get the anger OUT and not feel so damn alone all the time. I'd always been a very shy kid and feared thinking in this manner meant I was bad and that it was my moral obligation to just put on a brave face and keep going. That's where metal came into the picture. I don't remember when exactly it happened or what song it was, but a metal song was recommended to me on KZbin and I listened, really to the genre for the first time. Something about the music video really resonated with me, so I gave the music itself a chance too. I ended up going down a rabbit hole of suggested songs and saved a few to a playlist. I was initially still a little apprehensive about it, but I kept coming back to it, because it was the only music that resonated with me at all anymore. Metal served as an outlet for all these negative feelings and encouraged me to pay more attention to my mental health. Exploring the metal community, I found myself relating to these other people a lot and at that point in my life, connection and a feeling of belonging was something I desperately needed. Listening to metal, I was able to feel again, if just for short whiles at a time. I started listening to more and more metal and enjoying it immensely. I can say that today, I'm a certified metalhead who can listen to just about anything. My mental health is in a much better spot and I've started attending therapy, which has been extremely beneficial to me. I also started taking better care of my physical health, getting into weightlifting (sound tracked by my metal playlist, of course). I've made a bunch of metalhead friends and a few of us are considering picking up some instruments and forming a band. I've retained my core self that I've always been (which I'm incredibly grateful for), but I've improved my life in so many other ways. I credit a large part of this change in lifestyle, perspective and emotional maturity to metal, along with the things metal led me to (therapy, fitness, community). I always think back to the original few bands that acted as my gateway to this world and appreciate them so much. If I hadn't found their music then, I do not know whether I would still be here today to type this message. Slipknot, iwrestledabearonce, Spiritbox, SeeYouSpaceCowboy..., While She Sleeps, Knocked Loose, Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, Wage War and Bad Omens all hold a very special place in my heart and I always get a smile on my face when one of their songs come up. Now, to the reason for this very longwinded comment: Two bands that featured prominently in my playlist that I haven't mentioned yet were Nothing More and I Prevail. This collaboration is brilliant. I think this has genuine potential for metal song of the year. It carries special significance to me though, because it's the product of one of my favourite bands and a member of my other favourite band. You guys have me sitting here grinning like an idiot. I'm so incredibly happy to be listening to this and feel incredibly fortunate to be alive to hear this. Thank you for this song! I love it so much and couldn't have asked for a better surprise to come across my feed 3 days ago. I've had this on repeat since launch. you guys likely get thousands of comments stating similar things, but please know that you guys make a major impact in peoples' lives and we are grateful for that. Rock on, fellas \m/>.

@@bondvabond messages like this are the reasons why i still always check the comments here on KZbin. It became therapeutic and necessary for my mental health during the pandemic since I live in the sticks of rural Idaho and my circle of people had become almost non existent (coincidentally, at the time, I was experiencing the loss of many people in my life; friends...family...and the woman I thought was for me and the mother of my child...) So thank you for this...your introspection and personal growth is inspiring and helpful on so many levels. It gives me reassurance and motivates me, helps me to connect and relate to my own struggles and progression. Im glad you found what you needed to allow your perspective to evolve and help balance the emotions you experienced. The metal rabbit hole is a bittersweet process, but im genuinely grateful it exists and gives people like us an opportunity to connect and utilize that outlet it can provide. That and it just sounds fucking cool. I hope you continue on your path and you find what you need my friend. If you havent heard these ones yet then I just want to recommend and hope you enjoy: Nothing More - let em burn Metallica - disposable heroes CKY - familiar realm Nonpoint - explain yourself Fair To Midland - dancing manatees Leo ....(crap i forgot his last name) - feel good inc. Ozzy Osbourne - bark at the moon ...just a few of my favorites. Take care!

@@JonnyNM1986 Let Em Burn was my introduction to you guys... for various reasons that song is one that will stay with me forever. I love the music Nothing More creates... but specifically, I wanted to say thank you for creating that masterpiece. I look forward to many more and wish you guys the best! take care

The references and nods in their lyrics are peak. The expansion they made on the biblical iteration of the ones who built their houses on things was really intriguing

WOW; this could easily become one of my favorite Nothing More songs! The pure power in that chorus is incredible, and I love that the band is dedicating even more into metalcore soundscapes. That style really works for them while still keeping their great rock sensibilities. I am absolutely looking forward tot his new album so much!

That opening sequence is probably the most stunning set of images that the music industry has delivered. Simply beatiful and expertly done. Kudos to the visual artists.

@@guvalflores Welp, follow your own advice. The guy who made the intro wrote this on their webstie: "As of 2024, I'm all in on AI content creation. ". Such a shame , the imagery is fantastic. But it's AI nonsense and let's be honest, there wasn't really cohesive theme in the images anyway. It felt like a portfolio. Extra scummy that IMDB lists them mostyl as a director in projects. So seems like that they have a vision that they could have hired real artists to bring to life. But no, they use AI because it's cheaper. While being hired by other artists. What a great year we live in.

Absolutely... these are my guy's. Watching them for over 10 years before they had youtube videos. It's a song of a self destructive and self inflicting thought process. How to break the chains that bind. Sometimes we think we got the tools and things under control but it doesn't pan out like that... So you start again. Face the demons we continue to revisit because we haven't truly found a solution or process to heal properly.

Music is supposed to be angry and depressing. People who don't like that in my opinion don't live in reality.

It's a problem I've seen mostly in people that just don't like rock. To them it's just mostly noise so they don't pay attention to the poetry behind the music. This is a lot more impactful than a song about Ford trucks and beer

I would love this version on Spotify tbh the intro and build up made the main riff hit so damn hard.

AI slop intro aside, Nothing More has a unique aura about them that always made them stand out from the rest of the modern alternative metal bands. Respect. Great tune.

Agreed, the AI intro does no favors to the video and they don't even re-use the imagery later on in the video, so it feels very tacked on. I don't understand why Nothing More would work with AI imagery at all since their entire protest vibe doesn't jive with that low-effort prompt stuff. Especially when you get lyrics from them like "all my friends are dead, they all got fucked by the internet" which is what AI art is doing to the internet, fucking it up. Bot content, and low effort AI trash is ruining art spaces and twisting people's understanding of artistry in general. Nothing More would hate it if someone trained an algorithm on their music, how is the image version any different?
