I'm a cautious optimist on this. Still very excited and best I can surmise, Paul Elio is credentialed enough to make it happen. Besides, I've waited longer for a stupid tablet on kickstarter to see the light of day, compared to that, this car is doing great!

***** Some insight from a commenter on the next video: "graeme19571 month ago They spent the reservation money and have 70 million debt. With the bonus would be selling cars to the reservation holders for $5300 . They admit there cost to manufacture is $7000. Engine plant has not been started, would take over a year to get going" "graeme19571 month ago +John Painter The plant was set up for assembling cars. The engine is very complex and is entirely a different set up. Even if they got funding today, they would never be able to have it ready for 4th quarter 2016. I consider you the most intelligent Elio supporter, I am sure that you know that this is true. Reply1 graeme1957 graeme19571 month ago +graeme1957 I meant that you know that they will not be ready for 4th quarter 2016 ,not being the most intelligent. I noticed that you do not reply to Rick B's comments on the board, which makes me believe that you have your doubts. You can afford to lose the money, but there are a lot of investors, that did not read the SEC report that can't. Regarding the engine, I asked Elio Facebook about the engine and got immediately blocked, not a good sign" "graeme19572 weeks ago +Guy Fawkes If the loan goes through they might hire 1100. There is no sign that the government will loan them $200 million, they have been trying to find private investors for eight years. The purpose of the Elio guy is to get as many reservations as possible to keep the operation afloat. The government loan program states that the company has to be viable without the loan. Elio raised 25 million, but is 50 million in debt. All they have to show for it is 4 mock up vehicles. Paul Elios record as failing multiple times as a business man will also hurt his chances. This company is making him $250,000 a year and they paid his $650,000 mortgage off for him. Going from a roofer to this lifestyle give him no incentive to progress."

I've been waiting for a while,.. I'd love to be behind the wheel. One of the best selling points back in the days was the gas price's. Today I'm paying $2.67 per gal.( S.California ), a big difference from close to the 4 something almost 5. I seen of MSN yesterday $0.77 a gal in Michigan ( some kind of price war ). Even at those prices, I'd still want to be driving it.

+Jason Morris So put $100 down then. There's no turning back at this point, and even if they did fold, so you lost $100.. a family can vaporize that at dinner. If all anyone (not saying you.. it's a generalization) does is pay attention to the youtube trolls, then everything sucks, you can't do anything right, and nothing good will ever happen. If you take a look at it on the logical side, they're on the final revision.. they're at the gate revving their efficient engine.. it's going to happen. I'm in!

The truth is that they're waiting on a 250mil+ government loan to get the car into production and they haven't received it yet. I mean if every working adult American donated a dollar they would have this car in production by now lol.
@tooge478 жыл бұрын
+TheAhemahemahem That's why I WON'T be buying one: government loan. It is NOT, I repeat, is NOT the duty of gov't to loan money to anyone. If they GET the loan and you BUY one, YOU are part of the problem. Same reason I buy Ford, they didn't take the bailout as Chevy did.
@JJ_ExMachina8 жыл бұрын
+mark marchiafava The Elio motors is getting a Department of Energy Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing (ATVM) loan for $185 million (the ATVM program was set up in 2007 to support advanced and energy efficient vehicle production, it is tax money supported and earns interest from the companies that use it). Same one Tesla motors got by the way. This will allow Elio motors to bring the vehicle to market quickly. It is a low interest loan but still a loan they have to pay back. You are correct Ford did not take a so called TARP fund( all the car companies that did take money from the TARP fund have paid it back) However with that being said companies like Ford are to large for any one bank to support a loan for, so Ford took a Federal low interest loan during that time period. They were not in risk of going under like so many other companies were, but they did want to focus on R&D. They were able to take that money refocus the company and produce many new vehicles (the 2011 Ford Edge was one of the first to benefit from the Ford new direction, the 2012 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, all of them are now under the new Ford approach). Without that loan Ford's R&D towards new designs and advanced technology that can be found in the 2011 and newer vehicles. I was never really a Ford fan until the 2011 Edge and now their newer vehicles. You are right in that Chevy had to take the bail out or they would have closed their doors. They actually took bail out money twice. Which is why the second time the US government stepped up and said they would only give the Bail out loan if they restructured and removed most of the leads in the company.

still won't be buying an Elio. You people and your dependence on gov't sickens me. The more I read, the more I better understand why this once-great Republic no longer is. Land of the Free? LOL, only in your dreams.

You're not even "at" the show, you're stand is on the sideline! I've NEVER seen a "real CEO" stride up with a cup of coffee. JUST PRODUCE or NOT. PERIOD. You're starting to look like a laughing stock & Ponzi Scheme. Also, stop talking about you're suppliers... CAN YOU PLEASE POST THE LINKS TO THE 2 STUDIES YOU QUOTED FROM? I'll be the 1st to buy a vehicle and family & friends will likely follow. I'm honestly on your side, but talk is cheap. Others have produced vehicles, even airplanes (Boeing 787) in less time. If you're going public, I'll be calling the FTC... You need more than a "proof of concept". If you can, just sell out to a large manufacturer & walk away....
