I take a look at how to find a generation ship, in this video I look at the recently discovered Venusian, however there are quite possibly many more out there...

I though the claim was these were in game for a long time, but I always find it all to convenient that as soon as an update comes all of a sudden new things are discovered.

I don't think they've conclusively said these were in the game for a long time, since the models didn't exist in the files before. The Zurara (Rift Megaship) however, was in the game before, but as an Anaconda, that was upgraded to a megaship model with 2.3

Starfire Technology - They have always been in the lore, but they have only recently been added to the game.

I think these were added after the first rift thing was figured out, which is probably what was in game from the beginning. Otherwise it certainly wouldve been found on accident like what happened with Jaques Station.

Just remember that you have to be within 1000ls to see a listening post. It is currently unknown weather Frontier kept all posts at locations within 1000ls or if they are out a bit more. If the first planet is just a bit over 1000ls you might want to supercruise towards it and get in range to at least have a chance of seeing a post if it is around the first planet.

emaPug The pirate thing indicates that this ship was still active when humanity started to use FTL. Unfortunately for them, pirates discovered them before the authorities.

I bought a Elgato HD60, However my PC cant handle it, however I'm in the process of getting something nice. Still making great FOGGY elite content until then. I'm in the bubble right now just did fsd 5 with falicity I wanted to check out a gen ship before I head back home. " colonia migration appeal only has a week left. I don't understand how these people knew about supercruise thech, sure people were developing ftl drive when generation ships left, but those were the old drives from elite 1,2 and 3 that allowed to jump between starts, ships from those eras still had to cruise between planets the old style. Supercruise is very new tech and is first of it kind to allow ships to skip normal space travel.

It appears all the voice actors have been on Generation Ships. I'm glad we have found them and Elite can become a modern game, with roots in 1984, not a text adventure with gameplay from 1984.

About the first discovered ship, assuming the distress messages have been sent a long time ago, how is the location still correct? I mean, even if the ship is perfectly still in relation to the system as it seems to be the case on Elite Dangerous (ships not orbiting a massive body), how is the alignment still the same since the planets are actually orbiting the star?

AFAIK, most, if not all of those that didn't go wrong have already reached their destination. They were traveling in supercruise, so up to thousands of times faster than light.

Nope, basically the person making these logs wouldn't have been part of the first generation that originally left earth. Then later, after FSD tech was developed, pirates located and raided the generation ship.

If you are lucky enough to arrive at a system with a generation ship in it, yes, just the scanner is enough, but if you only find a listening outpost then it's worth the shot. Some listening outposts contain damaged information about other points of interests, like stranded ships on some planets or moons but you need to decypher this messages to find their source system.

Sorry, but this is disappointing. The voice acting is great and the actual text would be awesome... except that it makes no sense. There are a lot of things here that don't make sense, and not in a "this is a mystery" kind of way, but in a "you haven't thought this through very well, FD" kind of way. Mentions of supercruise, heavily modified ships, etc. How do you know about supercruise? How do you know the ships are heavily modified? These ships didn't even exist when you left earth! It would have been so easy to do it better. How can this Deacon dude communicate with the pirates? Heck, language alone will have mutated heavily in 600 years. These individuals have been cut off from society for centuries. Communicating with them would be like communicating with someone from the 13th century: not impossible, but also no easy. I dunno, this should have been thought out a little better.

If we need a video to tell us how to find something in the game, then the game has failed the player. The game failed to communicate so badly that we even need to be told how to find clues. Then we need to be told how to even understand how to decipher the flipping clue! I have never played a game that was this poor in communication with the player. In the end we are still randomly looking in 8000-10000 systems just for a flipping clue. Any person playing this line of quests on their own have almost no chance of finding something for themselves. I don't care if I am the 1st or the millionth person to find it. I just wanted to find these and other things on my own using in game resources without using reddit, youtube or anything else. Currently the game fails badly in that :( Then there is the matter of finding "mysterious things"......totally gave up on this game regarding story and exploration after playing since the beginning and with 3300 hours clocked in game.....many of those hours, searching fruitlessly without a clue or direction. I think Elite will go down in history for other developers on how not to do story and quests.

David Entz maybe it's just not tailored to you. People found these ships before this video was up. There is only a limited number of mysteries, since they are handmade and not procedurally generated, so making them hard to find is the only way to not get boring, repetitive discoveries after the first day since the patch.

The thing is the main story line (the hint is in the word "main") is the core part of everything that evolves in the game. Cutting people of from participating (details point out at the start of the thread) in this is just quite frankly silly. Not being able to find things, without third party tools makes me scratch my head. I have never played a game in my life that had its main story so inaccessible as this one.
