I used to work in a spa as a beauty therapist working late and commuting all over the place London included as well as round the world. No weekends and odd days off not always 2 days together. And I fully appreciate the burn out feeling! I left my house keys in my locker twice once and has to tube back to work 2hr round trip to get them!!! I could have cried. I wish I'd have found your lovely videos then as they are so inspiring to remember to take some time for yourself and treat yourself with kindness ❤

Your video has been really helpful Ellen, thank you. My dog passed away 3 weeks ago & I'm feeling overwhelmed now we've reached December. Work is so busy & my self care routine has been slipping. Waking up at 3am worrying about my day ahead & everything I must do for Christmas is beginning to make me feel burnt out. Thank you for your helpful tips. Your tree looks beautiful. Have a wonderful week ❤x

Oh gosh I’m so so sorry to hear about your dog. I really think there’s almost nothing as painful as losing a dog. Sending you so much love and hugs ❤️❤️

Thank you for your kind words. I need to learn to say no. It's not my nature to do so. I'm always helping others, but I must learn to take a step back & make time for myself too. I wish work offered more flexibility to work from home as well as the office. The time it takes to commute really adds to the working day.. Hope your week goes well. Thank you ❤x

Hey Ellen! I think one of your videos were recommended to me when you had only a couple hundred subscribers and one of your captions reeled me in and I have been watching your vids ever since. Life gets busy and I miss a fair few videos but then just when I get a moment to catch up on some of your vids (sometimes every few months!) you end up posting something so specifically relevant to my life... I have just moved out of Canary Wharf out to a village near Canterbury because I was only working in the office once a week so a long commute was doable, however now I've been told that office days are going up to 3 days a week in Jan and I'm dreading the constant 3hr round commute... I will not be defeated though 😅 Thank you for the calming advice regarding the burnout and also for making me feel slightly less panicky for not being the only one deciding to move so far away from my London job 😅 So pleased for you that your audience is growing, and congrats on the gorgeous new home! 💕

Ellen, you are the sweetest ever to be concerned and encouraging others as you plough through your busyness. I know seeking and applying balance is the theme of this vlog but I sense this is genuinely your character. No pretentiousness detected at all. Having a caring and hands on partner at the end of a brutal day is a valuable and soothing key to that balance. Big up and saluting Cameron 👍🏾. A year into retirement and I still feel crispy burnt but I do feel comfort in your vlogs and look forward to them. Has anyone mentioned how soothing your voice is? I find your voice and tone so comforting. You could be talking rubbish and I’d still feel AAAAH!!!!😊. As if you don’t have enough on your plate but you could easily lend your voice to audio book reading…just a thought…when you retire, maybe 😅. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Do you comute every workday or do you have and option of working from home? I find that I actually sometimes even get more things done when working from home. I work as a consultant with system implementation and strategic planning as well, and before Covid I really was kind of thinking that you really have an advantage if you are at the office because a lot of important conversation kind of happened in between the meetings as well as in the meetings . You know kind of like meeting the right person by the coffee machine and checking off the thing from the list you otherwise would have to schedule a meeting for. Also my work place probably wasnt as flexible at that time. But after Covid, I think it has become much more easy to combine digital communication with onpremise. And it has become much more normal to offer flexibility in corporate setting. So now I actually am able work from home around two times a week. Of course, it depends on the project and it needs. But overall, I feel like I have much more balance in my life that way which is quite important. I randomly discovered your channel yesterday and I really like the ambiance of your videos. So cozy and relatable with a touch of elegance. So glad I found your channel ❤

Hey! Welcome 🤗 at the moment I’m commuting in every day which I find tough. I relate to everything you’ve said, I think there are so many benefits to being in the office and working from home and Covid has made the ‘hybrid’ way of working so effective. My perfect week would be once or twice in the office and the rest from home. I’m only in the office every day until Christmas and then I’m hoping next year I’ll have a bit more balance ❤️❤️

I do enjoy your videos, especially this one as it’s an important one re: looking after ourselves. Thank you for that. but I do have a question… why do you always have to assign gender to objects? What’s up with that? Why does a Christmas tree need to be female? It’s a bit ridiculous and unnecessary … Also, why do you have to jump on the bandwagon of saying “I’m so excited!!!” about absolutely everything?? You say it so much it makes it sound rather fake… and it does grate quite a bit…

I absolutely love watching your videos. And those tips were great 😊 Any tips for adding in self care and avoiding burnout when working from home, not going into an office? 🫶
@ellenalicemiller Жыл бұрын
I think the difference between office vs home is that office gets tough because it becomes overstimulating. Home gets tough because it’s harder to create separation between rest and work. Anything you can do to make it clear when the work day is done and time for you begins is the best place to start. E.g When I work from home I always dress in ‘work clothes’ so at the end of the work day I can change into something else to try and signal to myself it’s time to chill! But I’ll do a video on my tips for working from home ❤️❤️❤️
