Brazilian here, adding context because a lot of news from here do not go oultside .While Elon is cringe, this time, he is indeed the correct one, the judge in question was doing the censoring of account (that is not permitted here), and Elon refused to comply with the Unconstitutional order, the judge asks for a representative, Elon presented one that was immediately threatened arrest (allegedly the common workers of twitter too) he removes the person to impede this happens and after being trapped, the judge bans twitter. Putting a daily fine of $8000 dollars for the common people that access it. PS: about Starlink Elon is not the only owner of the company making the holding of the assets by the judge possible illegal, a ask of impeachment is already in motion to vote...

@@Shawblade There is a difference between impersonating someone as a parody, like in an SNL sketch, and creating AI-generated content that accurately depicts a person with the intent to defame them and sway public opinion by presenting it as "real." In the latter case, you're using a representation of that person committing acts that harm their reputation by making them appear to say or do salacious or criminal things. This is a new issue, and most societies have yet to determine how to handle it. As technology evolves and becomes more accurate, the urgency to address this matter increases. We may need legal requirements to clearly label AI-generated content, ensuring audiences always understand what they are viewing. Let me pose this question: if someone used AI to depict you in a compromising way, making it undetectable to untrained eyes, and this portrayal led to public bullying, would that be considered parody? Could the bully argue that for their defense? What if you lost friends, relationships, money, jobs, or opportunities because of this? Or worse, what if you faced threats and attacks due to this representation? Elon is smart, he knew what he was doing, he is too ego driven to admit it.

Imagine how this wouldn't have been a news item if he had just done this in the first place. Instead, he acted like a child who wanted to take his toys and go home before eventually realizing that he's actually the CEO of a business and needs to act like one. And in the end he caved into Brazil's demands anyway.

Although making anti-misinformation laws is hard because of the potential for use in authoritative policies, Musk really hasn't been convincing in stopping those laws.

From a purely legal perspective, in the US this still probably falls under the first amendment and the US supreme court would definitely not do anything even close to what the Brazilian supreme court did

Fun fact Brazils networth a bit less than 10 times that of Elon, pretty insane. _Elon 266 billion and Brazil 2.331 trillion USD._

His companies did. He didn't. And arguably the accomplishments of his companies cannot necessarily be attributed to his role in them.
